      NETHLA FUKSA, 88, of Beulah, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at The Maples in Frankfort.
      A full obituary with service details will be in the Tuesday edition of the Record-Eagle.
      The Bennett-Barz Funeral Home in Beulah is in charge of arrangements.
     
      HERBERT EVERETT HOLMES, 82, of Omena, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
      A gathering of friends will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.
      Funeral services will be conducted at noon Friday, Dec. 12, with visitation one hour prior to the service at Keswick United Methodist Church.
      Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home is serving the family.
     
      IRENE H. JOSLIN, 90, of Manistee, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at Tendercare of Manistee.
      Visitation will take place today, Dec. 8, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee, with an evening prayer service at 8 p.m.
      Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, at St. Mary's of Mt. Carmel Shrine Church in Manistee. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
     
      HAZEL FAY PARROTTE, 83, of Benzonia, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, at The Maples in Frankfort.
      The family will receive friends Wednesday, Dec. 9, from 3 p.m. until time of services at the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home in Beulah.
      Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, at funeral home. Interment will be in the Benzonia Township Cemetery.

      TRAVERSE CITY - Robert Daniel "Bob" Lund Jr., 54, of Traverse City, died unexpectedly on Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at Munson Medical Center.
      Bob was born on June 6, 1949, in St. Paul, Minn., the son of Robert D. and Emma Jane (Keller) Lund. He and his family later moved to the Detroit area, where Bob graduated from Brother Rice High School and earned his business degree from the University of Detroit.
      A resident of Traverse City for the past 18 years, Bob had previously lived in the South Bend, Ind., and Bloomfield Hills areas.
      Bob owned and operated Thrifty Car Rental, Bob Lund Motors, and Thrifty Valet. From 1985 until 1990, Bob owned and operated Bob Lund Chevrolet dealership in Traverse City.
      He attended Christ the King Catholic Church, and was a member of the Michigan Automobile Dealers Association. He was also a member of Rotary and the Chamber of Commerce.
      A constant supporter of organizations in Traverse City, Bob provided vehicles and assistance to the Father Fred Foundation, the Grand Traverse Area Catholic Schools and St. Francis Gladhander. He also sponsored many athletic programs of Traverse City's Central and West high schools, as well as St. Francis High School.
      Bob enjoyed skiing out west, travel and auctions, and always wanted to learn how to fly. His greatest enjoyment was found in making others laugh and spending time with his family on the bay in his boat, "Dealers Choice."
      Bob is survived by his wife, the former Christine Elizabeth Reason, who he married on Sept. 27, 1975, at St. Hugo of the Hills Church in Bloomfield Hills; by his children, Robert Daniel Lund III, Patrick Dana Lund and Leslie Alison Lund, all of Traverse City; his father, Robert Daniel Lund Sr. of Scottsdale, Ariz.; his brother, John Lund, also of Scottsdale; his sisters, Natalie (Daniel) Kommeth of Holland, Ohio, and Catherine (Steven) Moore of Atlantis, Fla.; cousin, Michael Ryan of California; his father in law, Robert E. Reason of Bloomfield Hills; his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Michael Reason, Bob (Katherine) Reason, of Bloomfield Hills, Cindy (Paul) Byrd of Troy, and Mary Pamela Reason of Boca Raton, Fla.; many nieces and nephews; a great-nephew, and a great-niece.
      Visitation will take place at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home today, Dec. 8, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m., led by the Rev. Father Edwin Thome.
      The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tueday, Dec. 9, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Acme, with the Rev. Father Garth Hilmer officiating.
      Memorial contributions in Bob's name may be directed to The Father Fred Foundation or Brother Rice High School of Detroit.

      GEORGETOWN, Fla. - Helen Bullock-Keast, 60, of Georgetown, Fla., died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003, at her home. Formerly of Williamsburg, Helen has lived in Georgetown for the past six years.
      Helen was born in Ann Arbor on July 27, 1943, the daughter of Raymond and Mary (Gross) Bullock. On Nov. 17, 2000, in North Ft. Myers, Fla., she married Richard Keast.
      Helen worked at the Holiday Inn in Traverse City. She then owned and operated the Town Twenty Restaurant in West Branch.
      She was a hard worker and loved the water and snow. She enjoyed handicrafts, and truly loved her family and grandchildren.
      She is survived by her husband, Richard Keast of Georgetown, Fla.; four daughters, Karen (Glenn) Wright of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Tandra (Calvin) Greiner of Traverse City, Mary Vizzier of Traverse City and Anna (John) Penoza of Escanaba; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four sisters and two brothers.
      Helen was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Bullock.
      A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 9, from the Elk Rapids Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes, with the Rev. Thomas Pier-Fitzgerald officiating. The family will greet friends from noon until the time of service. Burial will take place in Maple Grove Cemetery in Elk Rapids.
      Arrangements were entrusted to Covell Funeral Home in Elk Rapids.

      TRAVERSE CITY - LaVern F. Lautner, 81, of Traverse City, went home to be with his Lord Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003.
      LaVern was born Nov. 28, 1922, in Traverse City, the son of Florence (Courtade) and Joseph Lautner. On May 11, 1943, he married the former Maxine W. Draper.
      A farmer by trade, LaVern had lived in the Traverse City area his entire life. In 1943, he began working for his grandfather and ran the Courtade farm. In later years, he worked for the Traverse City State Hospital and at Parsons Corporation.
      LaVern had been employed by the City of Traverse City, working in the street department, and had been employed there for 13 years at the time of his retirement in 1985.
      LaVern never lost his love of farming and always had a garden. He was well-known for giving his vegetables and flowers to friends and family. He loved animals and loved to fix things or improve them.
      A member of Bible Baptist Church, one of LaVern's many joys was spending time with his grandchildren.
      LaVern is survived by his wife, Maxine; his children, Larry (Terri) Lautner, Loren (Sandy) Lautner, Dan (LuAnn) Lautner, all of Traverse City, Jim (Sally) Lautner of Wilson, Janice Lautner of Traverse City and Jeff (and friend, Tammy Ransom and her son, Larry Ransom) Lautner of Lake Ann; 16 grandchildren, Larry Lautner Jr. and Tiffany Lautner, Dan, Kim and Kari Lautner, Tammy Strickland, Mark Lautner, Michelle Johnson, Riki Kirshner and Jesse Gorzinski, Jamie, Jesse and Joseph Correll, Christian DeWitt and Sarah Lautner; 18 great-grandchildren; his brothers and sister, Ralph (Mary) Lautner, Cletus (Marie) Lautner and Cleo Cavitch. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Arlene Lautner.
      LaVern was preceded in death by his parents; grandchildren, Tod Lautner, Ricky, Scott and John Lautner; and by his brother, Jerome Lautner.
      Visitation will take place today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Bible Baptist Church, 1915 Cass Rd., Traverse City.
      Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, at Bible Baptist Church, with Pastor Jerry Bauman officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
      Memorial contributions may be directed to Bible Baptist Church.
      The family would like to express their appreciation for the wonderful care LaVern received from his Bortz Health Care "family."

      Ronald Gregory Evans
      Died November 11, 2003
      TRAVERSE CITY - Ronald Gregory Evans, 56, of Traverse City, formerly of Camden, N.J., died Nov. 11, 2003, at University of Southern California Hospital in Los Angeles.
      He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1965, and was a minister with the Jehovah's Witnesses for 20 years.
      He is survived by his wife, Adele; four children, Misty Gonzalez, Sarah Sah of Michigan, Sunseri and Nathanael Evans of Florida; mother, Ruth Herndon; brothers, Jack Evans, Tom (Debra) Evans, David (Trudy) Evans; sisters, Pearl (Lester) Morgan, all of New Jersey, Barbara Harsen, Diane (Larry) Revard of Michigan; grandchildren, Katelyn and Tyler; stepchildren, Aaron Benso of Gaylord, Alyssa Benso-Baxter and Aundrea Livingston of Traverse City; and a stepgrandchild, Drew Livingston.
      He was preceded in death by his father, Jack C. Evans.
      A memorial service will be held Dec. 13, 2003, at 11 a.m. at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1950 Chase Rd., in Traverse City.

      Dorothy Jane Cruden
      Died December 6, 2003
      BEULAH - Dorothy Jane Cruden, 67, of Beulah, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at home surrounded by her family.
      She was born Aug. 20, 1936, in Detroit, the daughter of Vernon and Evelyn (Rundell) Westbay.
      Dorothy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who enjoyed baking, cooking and going shopping with family and friends. She also was known for helping others in their times of need. Most of all, Dorothy loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
      Dorothy is survived by her children, Kathy (Larry) Carter of Livonia, Karen (Bill) Teal of Beulah, Donnie (Sophie) Cruden of Ohio, Debbie Cruden of Honor, Gina (George) Henry of Redford, Gary Cruden of Hawaii, and Robert (Melissa) Cruden of Thompsonville; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers, William Westbay of Charlevoix and David (Tina) Westbay of Allen Park; two sisters, Phyllis (Richard) Doty of Charlevoix and Patricia James of Novi; her brother-in-law, Earl (Judy) Cruden of Lupton; numerous nieces and nephews; and her special dog, Freddie.
      On Dec. 9, 1952, in Detroit, Dorothy married Donald Owen Cruden, who preceded her in death on Feb. 5, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Richard Westbay, on June 9, 2003.
      Visitation will be held today, Dec. 8, from 2 to 9 p.m. at the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home in Beulah.
      Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, at the funeral home, with Pastor Dan Ingersoll officiating. Interment will be in the Homestead Township Cemetery.
      Memorial contributions may be made to Munson Hospice or to the Alpha One Foundation. Envelopes are available at the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home.

      Donald Laverne Lettau
      Died December 5, 2003
      THOMPSONVILLE - Donald Laverne Lettau, 84, of Thompsonville, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
      He was born Nov. 23, 1919, in Manistee County's Pleasanton Township, son of the late Alfred and Eunice (Putney) Lettau. He was a graduate of Arcadia High School, class of 1948. Donald married Dorothy M. Zilch on Sept. 19, 1942, in Frankfort.
      He had been employed as a lift truck operator for Smeltzer Orchards for more than 30 years. He also farmed the family homestead until 1972.
      He is survived by his wife, Dorothy M. Lettau of Thompsonville; and a daughter and son-in-law, Donnetta and Floyd Lillie of Thompsonville.
      The family will receive friends at the Edwards Oak Grove Funeral Home in Bear Lake this evening, Dec. 8, from 4 to 8 p.m.
      Funeral services for Donald L. Lettau will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, at the funeral home, with Pastor Mark Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the Blaine Township Cemetery.
      Memorials may be directed to the charity of one's choice.
