DIESING, 85, of Manistee, died on Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, at the Manistee County Medical Care Facility.Visitation will be held on Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the Johnson Funeral Home in Manistee. Services will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Manistee. Arrangements by Johnson Funeral Home P.C. in Manistee. ROSEMARY CLARE HULWICK, 68, of Fife Lake, died on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at home. A memorial service will take place at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Kalkasa. A full obituary will appear in a later edition of the Record-Eagle. Arrangements are being handled by Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. MINNIE M. KENEL, 89, of Kalkaska, died on Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center LTC. Visitation will be held on Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m., also at the funeral home. Arrangements are being handled by Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. INTERLOCHEN - James N. Hickey, 54, of Interlochen died on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, in New Smyrna Beach, Fla. Born on Aug. 25, 1949, in Cadillac, he was the son of Ruth (Mertes) and Merlin Hickey. He married his wife, Charlotte (Torrey) Hickey, on Aug. 5, 1967, in Cadillac. Jim was employed at United Engineered Tooling Company of Traverse City and enjoyed sports, especially fishing. Surviving Jim are his wife, Charlotte 'Char' of Traverse City; two sons, Brent (Lori) of Interlochen, and Aaron (Kelly) of Frankfort; three grandchildren, Ian, Jacob, and Jenna Hickey; one sister, Karen (Edward) Piontek of Portage; one aunt, Lucille Samuelson of Traverse City; two uncles, Bill and Bob Kildee; a niece, Mary Piontek; and a nephew, Todd Piontek. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, at 10 a.m., from the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Robert Zimmer will officiate. Memorials may be made to the James Hickey Grandchildren Memorial Fund. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes. TRAVERSE CITY - Wilfred Charles 'Bud' Speas, 91, of Traverse City, died on Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. Born on Oct. 17, 1912, in Barberton, Ohio, he was the son of Dean Ian and Marie (Rondon) Speas. In 1935, in Pontiac, he married the former Mary Elizabeth 'Betty' Carney, who preceded him in death in 1992. Bud had been employed as a fire chief in Royal Oak for many years. Following retirement, he moved to the Traverse City area. Bud liked to hunt and fish, and he especially enjoyed 'puttering' in his work shop. He will be fondly remembered for his love and support of his family. Survivors include his children, Betty Charlene (Bill) Fletcher of Traverse City, Charles Wayne (Diane) Speas of Cedar, and SuAnne Marie (Al) Pinoniemi of Arizona; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Along with his wife, Betty, Bud was preceded in death by his sisters, Virginia Welch, Marita Speas, and Rita Young. Friends may call at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City, on Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Bible Baptist Church on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at 11 a.m., with additional visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Gerald Bauman will be officiating. Burial will be in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be directed to either Bible Baptist Church or the charity of your choice. The family would like to extend a special 'thank you' to all the caregivers at Ritter's Senior Adult Living Center, for all the love and compassion that was shown to their loved one. Arrangements are being handled by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.
