January 12, 2003ObituariesADRIAN - Edward W. Rowe, 48, of Adrian and formerly of Traverse City, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003.He was born in Alexandria, Va., to Julia Morris on July 29, 1954. Ed grew up in both Virginia and North Carolina. He served his country in both the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard as a cook. Ed is survived by his two sons, Jeremy and Michael Rowe of Traverse City; his twin brother, Robert Rowe of Traverse City; his mother, Julia Morris of Virginia; his Aunt Annie of Virginia; and his close friend, Charlie Brown of Texas. Funeral services officiated by the Rev. Daniel Biteman and followed by military honors under the auspices of the VFW Cherryland Post #2780 will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, at the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes. Interment will be in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for the children's education. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes. BEAVER ISLAND - Melvin and Judy Bellamy, both 55, of Beaver Island and formerly of Newaygo, died Nov. 10, 2002, of accidental injuries following an airplane crash in Lake Michigan near Charlevoix. They are survived by their children, Melissa (James) Crova of Romulus, Jennifer Bellamy of Royal Oak, and Michael (Jenny) Bellamy of Newaygo; and their granddaughters, Anna and Renee Crova. Melvin is also survived by his mother, Leona Bellamy of Newaygo; his brothers and sister, Ron (Edie) Bellamy of Newaygo, Dale (Glenna) Bellamy of Caledonia and Bev (Bob) Karman of Kentwood. Memorial services for the couple will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at the Calvary Church, 777 East Beltline in Grand Rapids, with Pastor Darryl Britton officiating. Arrangements will be announced by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home of Traverse City. LORENA M. RITER, 78, of Alba, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, at Charlevoix Area Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. today at Penzien Funeral Homes, Inc., Mancelona. JOHN P. ROSENFIELD, 83, of Suttons Bay, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, at Grand Traverse Pavilions. Arrangements will be announced by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. MARTY R. SELBY, 58, of Traverse City, drowned Saturday morning, Jan. 11, 2003, while ice fishing on Long Lake.
