MARY MOUTSATSON, 90, of Traverse City, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, at Martin Luther Memorial Home in Holt, Mich.
      Arrangements are pending and will be announced by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
     
      FLORENCE ORCUTT, 76, formerly of Johannesburg, died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2003. Arrangements by Nelson Funeral Home, Gaylord.
     
      GLEN ARBOR - Dr. Homer A. Hindman, Jr. 83, of Glen Arbor, died Friday morning, Nov. 7, 2003, at Munson Medical Center.
      Born Feb. 11, 1920, in Urbana, Ill., he was the son of Ida (Ward) and Dr. Homer A. Hindman, D.D.S.
      Dr. Hindman was a general surgeon with his own practice in Champaign, Ill., retiring in 1987. He received his undergraduate degree in 1939 from the University of Illinois and his M.D. degree from the Northwestern University Medical School in 1942.
      After his service in the United States Navy, Dr. Hindman completed a residency in general surgery at the U.S. Public Health Service Hospital, Staten Island, N.Y. in 1951.
      Dr. Hindman became chief of staff at Burnham City Hospital, was a member of the Champaign County Medical Society and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
      Dr. Hindman was active in the Illinois Division of the American Cancer Society and received its Distinguished Service award in 1974.
      Dr. Hindman and his wife Doris moved to Glen Lake in 1987. He was a member of Glen Lake Community Reformed Church, and was well known as a gifted wood worker.
      Dr. Hindman is survived by his wife, the former Doris Marie Reutter, whom he married on June 9, 1979, in Champaign, Ill. He is also survived by his children, Dr. Jeffrey and his wife, Mary Hindman, of Huntsville, Ala. and their children, Dr. Jeffrey Hindman, Jr., David and Brian Hindman; John and his wife, Debbie Hindman of Kalamazoo and their children, Nathan and his wife, Daryn, Robert, Michael, Jacob, Patrick, and Samuel Hindman; Carol and her husband, David Sousa of Redlands, Calif. and their children, Rebecca and Laura Sousa; a great-granddaughter, Lauryn Hindman; and a brother, Dr. Joseph Hindman, of Ft. Worth, Texas.
      He was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife, Ruth Henrich Hindman in 1978.
      Friends may call at Glen Lake Community Reformed Church on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.
      Funeral services will be held later in the week in Champaign, Ill.
      Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Urbana, Ill.

      TRAVERSE CITY - Roy E. Morse, 88, of Traverse City, died on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003, at Tendercare Nursing Home.
      He was born in Traverse City, the son of Lloyd and Edith (LaPlant) Morse. He Married Ann Kocevar in May, 1951. She preceded him in death in October, 1982. He then married Dorothy Pritz on Dec. 22, 1983.
      Roy graduated from Traverse City Central High School in 1933. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a staff sergeant in the military police. Roy worked as a security guard in the Traverse City area for several years. He retired from the Traverse City Water Works after 42 years of service as foreman.
      Roy was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors.
      Roy is survived by his wife Dorothy of Traverse City, his son Don (Diane) Morse of Mt. Pleasant, two daughters, Diane (Dan) Weaver of Traverse City and Connie (John) Manville of Traverse City, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two sisters; Irene Risky of Traverse City and Jean Nicholson of California.
      Roy was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Velda Carlson, three brothers; Ralph, Dale and Blair Morse, and two grandchildren.
      Visitation will be held on Monday, Nov. 10 from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at Covell Funeral Home. A rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
      Visitation also will take place from 10 a.m. until the start of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11. The Rev. James Gardiner will officiate.
      Burial with full military honors will take place at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens under the auspices of Cherryland VFW Post #2780.
      Memorial donations may be made in Roy's name to the American Diabetes Association or to the charity of one's choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
      Arrangements have been entrusted to Covell Funeral Homes.
     
      RAPID RIVER, Mich. - Rose Elizabeth Doonan, 84, of Rapid River, died on Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, at Marquette General Hospital.
      She was born Jan. 19, 1919, in Fife Lake, the daughter of Leo and Elsie (Bonewitz) Brunett.
      She married Charles Doonan on Oct. 18, 1939. Together, they resided in the Rapid River area since 1964.
      Rose worked as a realtor for the Allied Real Estate Company until her retirement in 1981. The couple wintered in Florida and summered in Fife Lake after her retirement. Mr. Doonan preceded her in death in 1995.
      Rose is survived by five daughters; Joan Black of Sequin, Wash., Helen (Steven) Olson of Frederick, Mich., Ann Johnson of Rapid River, Nora (Larry) Doonan Walters of Rapid River and Kathy (Terry) Krebs of Escanaba.
      She also is survived by four brothers: Eugene (June) Brunett of Fife Lake, Charles Brunett of Belmont, Mich., John (Joy) Brunett of Fife Lake and Fel (Pat) Brunett of Fife Lake; two sisters, Frances Kretowicz of Grand Rapids and Leota (Walter) Cimo of Clermont, Texas, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
      Rose was preceded in death by her husband Charles, three sisters, one brother and her son-in-law Daniel Johnson.
      A memorial mass for Rose Doonan will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9 at St. Charles Church in Rapid River with Fr. David Sedlock officiating.
      The Skradski-Boyce Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the family.
     
      FRANKFORT - Zella Emma (Nugent) Johnson, 86, of Frankfort and a lifelong resident of Benzie County passed away on Oct. 27, 2003, at Metropolitan Hospital in Grand Rapids.
      She was born on June 27, 1917, to Wesley and Mary (Burns) Nugent on the family farm in Blaine Township. On Nov. 24, 1938, she married Clarence M. Johnson, who preceded her in death in 1978.
      Zella was a Past Matron of Mt. Olive Chapter #347 Order of the Eastern Star and a life member of the Benzie Area Chapter #405 OES. She also was a long time member of Frankfort United Methodist Church and its women's groups.
      Zella is survived by her son, Douglas (Margo) Johnson of Hudsonville, her daughters, Sharon (Delbert) Parsons of Frankfort and Kristine (Harry) Simpson of Williamsburg, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, her brother and sister, Chester Nugent and Sylvia Morgan, both of Frankfort, as well as many nieces and nephews.
      In addition to her husband, she also was preceded in death by nine brothers, one sister, and one grandson.
      Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 30, at Frankfort United Methodist Church.
