Obituaries

      MONROE - Prudence A. McIntyre, a lifelong resident of Monroe, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at the Monroe Lutheran Home. She was 97.
      Born in Monroe on May 3, 1906, to Jay and Edith (Golden) Harrington, she was the third of five children.
      In 1922 she was elected Miss Monroe and graduated from Monroe High School in 1924. On March 3, 1928, she married William D. McIntyre in Toledo, Ohio.
      "Prudy," as she was known, enriched the lives of all who knew her. She was a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. As a woman of faith, she was a daily communicant throughout most of her life and had a strong devotion to the rosary.
      A homemaker for many years, Prudy was very devoted to her family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who fondly called her "Mommie-too."
      Prudy loved to entertain and enjoyed her many friends, especially her Monday "sewing club." She was a founding member of the Monroe Thrift Shop, supported numerous civic and charitable causes and quietly helped many people in need.
      Prudy traveled extensively throughout the United States, Europe and Latin America with her husband, William, Sr., during his tenure as a senior officer of the Monroe Auto Equipment Company.
      She is survived by four of her six loving children, who are grateful for her long life, William D. (Susan L.) McIntyre Jr. of Monroe, Sharon M. Malone of St. Louis, Mo., and Priscilla M. Payne and Thomas G. (Sheila W.) McIntyre of Traverse City; and her son-in-law, Stephen J. Linsenmeyer of Marco Island, Fla. She had 26 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister; Beth Ann (Edward) Dobie of Monroe.
      She was preceded in death by her firstborn daughter, Prudy Ann, in 1938, and her second daughter, Jan M. Linsenmeyer, in 1995; and her husband of 36 years, William D. McIntyre Sr., in 1964. Additionally, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Johanne Marie "Jody" Payne, in 2002; her sisters, Helen H. McGowan and Frances A. Gartner; as well as her only brother, Charles G. Harrington, the former sheriff of Monroe County.
      Visitation will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Friday, Nov. 14, from 4 to 9 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m. and a vigil service conducted at 8 p.m.
      A celebration of her life will be held at a Mass of the Resurrection at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 10 a.m.
      In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Saint Mary Catholic Central High School Endowment Fund, and The Lutheran Home of Monroe.

      TRAVERSE CITY - Ezra H. "Ezzie" Ramoie, 76, of Traverse City, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, at Munson Medical Center.
      He was born June 2, 1927, in Flint, and moved to the Traverse City area after World War II. Ezra was the son of Ezra J. and Beatrice (Tramain) Ramoie. He married Marlyn "Molly" (Wenzel) Ramoie Feb. 19, 1949, in Traverse City. She preceded him in death Sept. 20, 2001.
      Ezzie was employed by Consumers Power Co. and retired after 35 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in both World War II and the Korean War.
      Ezzie could be described as a colorful gentleman. He loved flying and aviation, and obtaining a pilot's license was an accomplishment in his life. He enjoyed building and flying radio-controlled airplanes and was a founding member of the Traverse Area Model Pilots Society. Collecting model airplanes, trains and ships was a favorite pastime. He also enjoyed dogs, hunting, fishing and camping.
      Ezra is survived by three sons, Daniel (Patti) Ramoie, Ron (Janet) Ramoie and Kevin (Mary) Ramoie, all of Traverse City; three daughters, Barbara Summers, Joni (Bob) Weiselberg and Mary Ramoie, all of Grand Haven; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson; two sisters, Arlene Clark of Stuart, Fla., and Virginia Schaeffer of Elk Rapids; and a brother, Harold Ramoie of Elk Rapids.
      Visitation was held Tuesday, Nov. 11, at the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes.
      A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. today, Nov. 12, at the funeral home, with Rev. Brent Brutlag from the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
      Memorials may be made in his honor to the Grand Traverse County Humane Society through the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes.

      TRAVERSE CITY - Estella Marie "Stella" Lautner, 70, of Traverse City, died Monday, Nov. 10, 2003.
      She was born in Freeland on Feb. 15, 1933, the daughter of Harold G. and Cora Belle (Davis) Fritz. On May 17, 1952, she married Sylvester Lautner at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Traverse City.
      A mother and homemaker, Stella also volunteered and worked in the community on political campaigns, with the Women's Resource Center, Girl Scouts, the Father Fred Foundation, and many other organizations. She was also a foster mother to many people.
      Stella enjoyed reading, especially cookbooks, playing cards and the Bunko club with friends, and gambling. She also bowled on a league for many years at Timberlanes. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and took many bus trips throughout the United States. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for more than 50 years, and was active in the Catholic Daughters.
      Stella is survived by her husband, Sylvester Lautner; children, Michael (Mickey) Lautner, Jeanette (Greg) Sherman, Gary Lautner, Terry (Kim) Lautner, Cynthia Lautner-Dumas, and Kevin (Deanne) Lautner, all of Traverse City; 11 grandchildren; and her sister, Barbara Riley of Mount Pleasant.
      She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law, Patrick Riley.
      Visitation will take place Thursday, Nov. 13, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City, with a rosary at 7 p.m.
      A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with visitation one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Father James Hayden will serve as celebrant. Interment will be in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
      The family asks those wishing to give memorials to please remember the Father Fred Foundation or the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and the church.
      Arrangements have been entrusted to the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes.

      BEULAH - Donald L. "Don" Woznick, 76, of Beulah, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital in Frankfort.
      He was born July 5, 1927, in Detroit, son of the late Leo and Lottie (Skura) Woznick. He married Lorita (Rita Page) Moreno on March 11, 2001. Don and Lorita vacationed in the Benzie area for 20 years before relocating there two years ago.
      Don attended Thomas C. Cooley High school in Detroit. After serving two years in the Merchant Marines, he was called into the U.S. Navy, where he served aboard the U.S.S. Ajax in the South Seas during World War II.
      Don worked as a hydraulic engineer for Vickers Inc. for 37 years before retiring in 1988. He then worked in general construction at Trico Sash for his brother, Ken, until 1994.
      In addition to St. Raphael Church of Copemish, Don was a member of the National Rifle Association. He was an outdoor sportsman who enjoyed hunting deer and small game, as well as collecting guns and loading his own shells. RV camping with his family was another favorite activity of Don's.
      Don is survived by his wife, Lorita "Rita" Woznick of Beulah; six children from his previous marriage, Karen T. Cornwall of Arizona, Marie C. Woznick of Plymouth, Anne B. (Sylvester) Garcia of Westland, Joseph A. Woznick of Nevada, Michael F. Woznick of Southfield and Sharon "Shari" Pfaff of Canton; two stepchildren, Joseph A. (Rose) Page of Sterling Heights and Janet M. (Page) Kueber of Royal Oak; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
      He is also survived by three brothers, Ramon (Virginia) Woznick of Beulah, Ken (Vera Brown) Woznick of Warren, and Ralph (Denise) Woznick of Waterford; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
      A Memorial Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated Saturday, Nov. 15, at 11 a.m. at St. Raphael Church of Copemish, with Father Raymond Sonefeld, celebrant. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Cremation has taken place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Manistee.
      Memorial contributions may be made in Don's name to St. Raphael Church, 18440 Cadillac Hwy., Copemish, MI 49625. Envelopes will be available at the church.
      The Oak Grove Cremation Center is serving the family.

      GLORIA MARIE SCHMIDT CONE, 73, of Kaleva, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at her home.
      Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at the Terwilliger Funeral Home in Kaleva, with Rev. Floyd Soper officiating. Interment will be in the Maple Grove Township Cemetery.
      Visitation will be held Thursday, Nov. 13, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home.
     
      LUCILLE 'LUCI' HEBERT, 82, of Traverse City, passed away Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, at her home.
      Visitation will take place Thursday, Nov. 13, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church in Traverse City, where a rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m.
      Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at the church.

      LYLA MARIE ROKOS, 84, passed away Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, at the Grand Traverse Pavilions.
      A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Nov. 15, at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church in Traverse City.
      Arrangements have been entrusted to the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes.
     
      FORREST THOMPSON, 82, of Traverse City, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at his home.
      Service arrangements will be announced by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
