November 13, 2003ObituariesRICHARD 'BILL' BROWN, 65, of Muskegon, a native of Manistee, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2003, in Muskegon.Visitation will take place Friday, Nov. 14, from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Systema Funeral Home in Muskegon. Visitation will continue at Edwards-Oak Grove Funeral Home in Bear Lake Sunday, Nov. 16, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, at Edwards-Oak Grove Funeral Home. Burial will be in Conway Cemetery, Arcadia. ROBERT F. ELSENHEIMER, 77, of Interlochen, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, at Munson Medical center in Traverse City. Arrangements will be announced by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, Traverse City. DOROTHY E. ENGELMAN, 101, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at Munson Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 15, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Central United Methodist Church, where friends may begin calling one hour before the service. A full obituary will apear in Friday's Record-Eagle. Arrangements are be handled by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. ARTHUR LeROY JOHNSON, 81, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at his Bear Lake home. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at Edwards-Oak Grove Funeral Home in Bear Lake, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Cremation will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, with final interment in Pleasant View Cemetery. HELEN M. KOCEVAR, 91, of Interlochen, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, in Elk Grove Village, Ill. Friends may call Friday, Nov. 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, Traverse City. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at the Interlochen Bible Church. A complete obituary will appear in Saturday's Record-Eagle. ROBERT H. MUSSER, 75, of Traverse City, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at Munson Medical Center. A memorial service will take place on Monday Nov. 17, 2003, beginning at 3 p.m. at the Traverse City Elks Lodge. TRAVERSE CITY - Lucille Marie "Luci" Hebert, 82, of Traverse City, formerly of Mt. Clemens, died at her home Monday, Nov. 10, 2003. She was born in Bayfield, Wis., on Feb. 11, 1921, the daughter of James and Kathryn (O'Shogay) Morrin. On Dec. 10, 1941, in Bayfield, she married Clarence "CJ" Hebert, who preceded her in death in 1999. Luci owned and operated Luci's Hair Fashions in Mt. Clemens for over 15 years. A member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Luci was very active in the Senior Citizens Center and belonged to the Kitchen Band. She enjoyed bowling, crocheting, fishing and crossword puzzles. Luci loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and enjoyed people. Luci is survived by three daughters, Eileen (Howard "Bud") Denryter of Sterling Heights, Mary (Russ) Chambers of Paradise, Calif., and Linda (Jere) Brown of Lake Ann; a son, John Hebert of Eastpointe; 11 grandchildren, Wendy, Michael, Allicia, Joe, Lisa, Sarah, Emily, Jessie, Jodie, Jena and Douglas; six great-grandchildren, Tyler, Kyle, Eric, Frankie Lane, Jesse and Madelyn; and a brother, David (Ollie) Gordon of Clinton Township. In addition to her husband, Clarence "CJ" Hebert, she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and three sisters. Visitation will take place today, Nov. 13, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church, 1025 S. Union St., Traverse City. A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at the church, with visitation one hour prior to the service. The Rev. James Gardiner will be celebrant. Burial will be in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be given in Luci's name to the Senior Citizens Center. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes. SUTTONS BAY - Samuel "Lee" Nelson, 95, of Suttons Bay, passed away at home Monday, Nov. 10, 2003. Lee retired in 1973 after serving 42 years as a coach, teacher and school administrator. Surviving are two sons, Richard (Kay) and Dennis (Dee); a daughter, Cherry (Marty) Scott; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Lee was preceded in death by his wife, Donna, in 1999. His body has been donated to the University of Michigan Medical School. No services are planned. Memorial contributions may be directed to Sharecare of Leelanau, P.O. Box 217, Northport, MI 49670. TRAVERSE CITY - Ezra H. "Ezzie" Ramoie, 76, of Traverse City, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, at Munson Medical Center. He was born June 2, 1927, in Flint, and moved to the Traverse City area after World War II. Ezra was the son of Ezra J. and Beatrice (Tremain) Ramoie. He married Marlyn "Molly" (Wenzel) Ramoie Feb. 19, 1949, in Traverse City. She preceded him in death Sept. 30, 2001. Ezzie was employed by Consumers Power Co. and retired after 35 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in both World War II and the Korean War. Ezzie could be described as a colorful gentleman. He loved flying and aviation, and obtaining a pilot's license was an accomplishment in his life. He enjoyed building and flying radio-controlled airplanes, and was a founding member of the Traverse Area Model Pilots Society. Collecting model airplanes, trains and ships was a favorite pastime. He also enjoyed dogs, hunting, fishing, and camping. Ezra is survived by three sons, Daniel (Patti) Ramoie, Ron (Janet) Ramoie and Kevin (Mary) Ramoie, all of Traverse City; three daughters, Barbara Summers, Joni (Bob) Weiselberg and Mary Ramoie, all of Grand Haven; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson; two sisters, Arlene Clark of Stuart, Fla., and Virginia Schaeffer of Elk Rapids; and a brother, Harold Ramoie of Elk Rapids. Visitation was held Tuesday, Nov. 11, at the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes. A funeral service was at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, at the funeral home, with Rev. Brent Brutlag from the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church officiating. Burial was in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made in his honor to the Grand Traverse County Humane Society through the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes. TRAVERSE CITY - Forrest Manville "Frosty" Thompson, of Traverse City, formerly of Goodrich, died at home on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2003. Mr. Thompson was born Oct. 17, 1921, in Osborn, Mo., the son of Arthur and Goldie Thompson. He married Jean Elizabeth Servoss on June 18, 1946, in the City of Pontiac. They raised their family on a farm in Goodrich before moving to Traverse City in 1992. Mr. Thompson was employed as a Construction Supervisor by Michigan Bell Telephone for 32 years. He was a decorated veteran of the Pacific theater during World War II, having served in the U. S. Army from 1942 through 1945. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and the Telephone Pioneers of America. He was also a charter member of his local Lions Club. A vital and robust "gentleman farmer," he enjoyed a lifelong interest in music. He is survived by his wife, Jean; two of his nine siblings, Harry Thompson and Virginia Johnson, who reside in Missouri; one daughter, Denise, of Hollywood Fla.; and four sons, Allen (Sally Trumble) of Suttons Bay, George (Sally Carless) of Traverse City, Gary (Sally Halsey) of Oxford, and Terry (Kelly Roth) of Traverse City. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. His children and grandchildren were the center of Frosty's universe. His family have decided to honor Forrest's memory with a service at The Presbyterian Church, 701 Westminster, Traverse City at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003. The Rev. Dr. Homer Nye will officiate. Graveside services will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, with military rites being provided by Cherryland VFW Post #2780. Visitation will begin at the church at 10:30 a.m. Saturday and will continue until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed in Mr. Thompson's memory to The Presbyterian Church. The family is being served by The Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
