      NORBERT DAVID EATON, age 79, of Manistee died Friday, Nov. 21, 2003, at Tendercare of Manistee.
      Military graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Manistee.
      The Oak Grove Cremation Center is serving the family.
     
      ROBERT WALTER LARSON, 75, of Manistee, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, in Mason County.
      Cremation will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery.
      The Oak Grove Cremation Center is serving the family.
     
      MARGARET E. NICHOLLS, 97, of Traverse City, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003, at Grand Traverse Pavilions.
      A funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, Nov. 29, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
      The family is being served by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.
     
      OLIVE L. RADTKE, 88, of South Boardman, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003, at Bay Medical Center of Panama City, Fla.
      A celebration of her life will be held in the spring at South Boardman Cemetery.
     
      CLARA MARIE SMITH, 94, of Bear Lake, died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, at the Manistee County Medical Care Facility.
      Memorial services will be held Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Bear Lake. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service. Cremation took place at Oak Grove Cemetery, with final interment to be in Pleasanton Township Cemetery.
      The Edwards Oak Grove Funeral Home of Bear Lake is serving the family.
     
      MARJORIE MARIE MONK JOHNSON TUISKU, 99, of Kaleva, peacefully passed away Nov. 24, 2003, at Orchard Hill Adult Foster Care Home in Brethren.
      Visitation will be held today, Nov. 25, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Terwilliger Funeral Home in Kaleva.
      Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Kaleva, with Pastor Donald Stroup officiating. Interment will be in the Brethren Cemetery.
     
      FRANK D. VERELLEN SR., 82, of Wilson Township, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, at Charlevoix Area Hospital.
      Visitation will take place today, Nov. 25, at Keehn Funeral Home in Brighton.
      Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 26, at the funeral home.
      Local arrangements were handled by the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.

      ELK RAPIDS - Maxine Marker, 71, of Elk Rapids, died peacefully Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, at her home.
      Born March 29, 1932, in Como, Miss., she was the daughter of Selma (Davis) and Valley Holder Jr. She married Roger Marker in Elk Rapids May 8, 1954, and he preceded her in death May 26, 1989.
      Maxine worked as a librarian assistant at the Elk Rapids Public Library for 25 years, and had planned to retire at the end of this year. She was a longtime member of the Elk Rapids AMVETS Post # 114 Auxiliary.
      Maxine loved the outdoors and had many hobbies. Her real enjoyment in life was her family.
      Maxine is survived by six children, Dan of Kewadin, Dave (Karen) of Cardiff, Calif., Don (Michelle) of Elk Rapids, Doug (Donna) of Elk Rapids, Sheila (J. Bret) Marker-Hollabaugh of Elk Rapids, and Melody (Roger) Marker-Addison of Kewadin; seven grandchildren, Geoffrey, Meryn, Joshua, Matthew, Kali, Natalie and Robert.
      A Celebration of Life Service for Maxine will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Elk Rapids, with Rev. Wally Draeger and John Hoover officiating.
      The Marker family invites all of Maxine's friends to a gathering at the new AMVETS Post #114 facility on Bridge St., Elk Rapids, immediately following the service.
      Memorial contributions may be made to the Elk Rapids Library. Flowers may be sent to the Marker home at 611 River St., Elk Rapids. Maxine truly loved yellow roses.
      Arrangements have been entrusted to the Elk Rapids Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes.

      TRAVERSE CITY - Marion "D" Smith, 78, of Traverse City, formerly of Davison, died at his home Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003.
      He was born in Flint on Aug. 10, 1925, the son of Phineas M. and Maggie M. (Ervin) Smith. On May 7, 1945, he married the former Dorothy H. Jones in Reno, Nev.
      A veteran of World War II, D served on the U.S.S. LaMar and joined Adm. Halsey's 3rd fleet on the U.S.S. Dayton. He helped patrol Tokyo after the surrender.
      D retired in 1982 from Michigan Bell after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Rivers of Life Fellowship Church and was a charter member of the Judson Baptist Church in Burton. He was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
      D enjoyed his home and especially his yard, and loved his family and grandchildren.
      He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Smith of Traverse City; three sons, Michael (Mary) Smith of Swartz Creek, Steven (Michele) Smith of Minocqua, Wis., and John (Carol) Smith of Otisville; his daughter, Janice Smith of Traverse City; seven grandchildren, Tiffani (Doc), Marc, Krista (Brandon), Daniel, Tracy, Troy and Chapin; his sister, LaVera Mince of Crystal Falls; two sisters-in-law, Iris Smith and Betty Jones; and several nieces and nephews.
      He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Elton and Edwin Smith; a great-granddaughter, Elyce Smith; sister-in-law, Mae Smith; brother-in-law, Chester Mince; and nephew, Larry Smith.
      Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at the Rivers of Life Fellowship Church, with Pastor James Hemgesberg officiating.
      In lieu of flowers, donations in D's name may be directed to the Rivers of Life Fellowship Church Building Fund.
      Arrangements have been entrusted to the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes.
