      JACK EDWARD ALLEN, son of Sen. Jason and Suzanne Allen of Traverse City, was stillborn Friday, Oct. 24, 2003, at Munson Medical Center.
      Arrangements are pending at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, Traverse City.
      EMMA B. BULLOCK, 69, of Lake Orion, formerly of Central Lake, died Friday, Oct. 24, 2003, at the North Oakland Medical Center in Pontiac.
      The family will receive friends this evening, Oct. 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28.
      ANNA FIK, 52, died Friday, Oct. 24, 2003, at her Grayling home.
      Visitation will take place this evening, Oct. 27, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Sorenson Funeral Home, McEvers Chapel.
      Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
      Arrangements have been made by Sorenson Funeral Home, McEvers Chapel, in Grayling.
      ELIZABETH MAE (HOCHSTETLER-CHUPP) KERTES, 87, of Harrietta, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003, at Bortz Health Care in Traverse City.
      Visitation will take place today, Oct. 27, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac.
      Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sixteen Cemetery in Harrietta.
      Arrangements were made by Peterson Funeral Home, Cadillac.
      CHARLOTTE JACOBS, 84, of Manistee, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003, at the Manistee County Medical Care Facility.
      Visitation will take place today, Oct. 27, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Manistee, where funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28.
      ROBERT JOSEPH RIESCHL, 82, of Beulah, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003, at his home.
      The family will receive friends Tuesday, Oct. 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home in Beulah, with a rosary service at 7:30 p.m.
      Memorial Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Copemish.
      A full obituary will be in the Tuesday edition of the Record-Eagle.
      The Bennett-Barz Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
      DONALD L. SCATES, 82, of Onekama, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Oct. 26, 2003. He was a resident of Curry House Assisted Living in Cadillac.
      Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 28, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, in Benzonia. Visitation will be held Tuesday, from noon until time of services at the church. Interment will be in the Bear Lake Township Cemetery.
      The Bennett-Barz Funeral Home, in Beulah, is in charge of arrangements.

      TRAVERSE CITY - Marcella Bee Grof, 78, of Traverse City and formerly of Chippewa Lake and Inverness, Fla., died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003, at the Grand Traverse Pavilions.
      Marcella was born on July 6, 1925, in Muskegon Heights. She married David William Grof on April 26, 1946, in Lansing, and he preceded her in death on June 27, 1970.
      Marcella is survived by her sons, David D. (Lorrie) Grof of Traverse City and Richard W. (Wendy) Grof of Pensacola, Fla. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Luke and Emily Grof, Holly (Miles) Roe and Heather Grof; her brothers-in-law, Richard G. Grof of Traverse City, Wilbur (Thelma) Grof of Dallas, Texas, Charles (Arlene) Grof of Florida; nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Patty Pascoe of Traverse City.
      In addition to her husband, Marcella was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Katherine (MacDonald) and Milburn D. "Scoop" Collard.
      Graveside services will be held in the spring in Chippewa Lake Cemetery, Mecosta County.
      The family would like to extend their appreciation to the Grand Traverse Pavilions, the Maple Pavilion staff and Patty Pascoe for the wonderful and loving care they provided to Marcella.
      Memorial contributions may be directed to The Grand Traverse Pavilions Foundation, 1000 Pavilions Circle, Traverse City, MI 49684.
      The family is being served by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.

      RAPID CITY - Jean L. Stewart, 80, of Rapid City, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2003, at Birchwood Nursing Center in Traverse City.
      She was born on Dec. 7, 1922, in Alba, the daughter of Harry and Edna (DeLong) Kobel.
      She had worked in food service at the Pontiac State Hospital and later at the Traverse City State Hospital before retiring in 1976.
      She enjoyed gardening, cooking, fishing, hunting and she loved spending time with her family.
      On Nov. 18, 1940, in Benton Harbor, she married Douglas Stewart who preceded her in death on Aug. 19, 2000.
      Also preceding her in death were two brothers, two sisters and her parents.
      Surviving are two sons, Jack (Judy) Stewart of Rapid City and Russell (Joyce) Stewart of Clarkston and Rapid City; four grandchildren, David (Anne) Miller, David Stewart, Bryan (Lori) Stewart, Steven (Violet) Stewart; seven great-grandchildren, Jenna, Dustin, Maggie, Wayne, Stephanie, Trevor and Phillip; and one brother, Earl (Phylis) Kobel of Midland.
      Visitation will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
      Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 29 at the funeral home. The Rev. Mary Brown will officiate.
      Interment will take place in Fairview Cemetery, Mancelona.

      Ruth A. Etzcorn
      Died October 24, 2003
      SOUTH BOARDMAN - Ruth A. Etzcorn, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on Oct. 24, 2003, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
      She was born on Sept. 28, 1922, in South Boardman, the daughter of Charles and Hazel (Johnson) Hall.
      Ruth married Herbert N. Etzcorn on April 18, 1941, in South Boardman. She was a resident of South Boardman her entire life.
      Ruth was a secretary at Kalkaska Elementary School, a homemaker, and worked in the Equalization Department for Kalkaska County until she retired. She was also a past Orange Township treasurer.
      Ruth enjoyed farming, gardening, reading, knitting and crocheting.
      Ruth is survived by her daughter, Marilyn L. (Ralph) Zirkle of South Boardman; her grandchildren, Jeffrey, Peter, Michelle, Michael and Daniel; 10 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Wilda (Howard) Babcock of Rockford.
      Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert, on Jan. 30, 1995; her brother, Devere Hall; and her sister, Gladys Krumlauf.
      Visitation will take place this evening, Oct. 27, from 4 until 8 p.m. at Wolfe Funeral Home.
      The funeral service will be on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Lodi Cemetery.
      Memorials may be given on behalf of Ruth to Forest Area School Library, 100 Shippy Road, Fife Lake, MI 49633.
