August 29, 2004ObituariesOTTO GEORGE MOLMEN, 73, of Fife Lake, died Aug. 27, 2004, at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center-Long Term Care. Visitation will be on Monday, Aug. 30, 2004, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004, at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. A full obituary will be in a later edition of the Record-Eagle. Arrangements are by the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. RUBY ROHN, 75, of Frankfort, died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004, at Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital Long Term Care. Arrangements are pending. Arrangements are being handled by the Benzonia Chapel of McElduff Funeral Home and Cremation Service. OSCAR "DOC" FRANCIS WARREN, 81, of Mesick, passed away Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, at his home in Mesick. Visitation will be held today, Aug. 29, 2004, from 3 to 6 p.m., at the Minar Bible Church on M-115, in Mesick. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, Aug. 30, 2004, at 11 a.m., also at the church. Interment will be in the Mesick Sherman Cemetery. The Terwilliger Funeral Home, in Kaleva, is in charge of arrangements. TRAVERSE CITY - Christan Lee DeWitt, 16, of Traverse City, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2004, as the result of an automobile accident. Christan was born, in Traverse City, on May 18, 1988, the daughter of Janice Kay Lautner and Richard Lee DeWitt. She was a student at T. C. West Senior High School, where she was active in band, the color guard and track. Christan loved animals, swimming and writing poems and especially looked forward to vacations with her Grandma Judy. She enjoyed going to the derby as well as motorcross. Christan was always willing to participate and work on any project or activity that presented itself. She attended Bible Baptist Church with her boyfriend, Brandon, and together they enjoyed being involved in the activities there. Christan is survived by her best friend and boy friend, Brandon Gilbride; by her dad, Richard DeWitt and her mom, Janice Lautner, all of Traverse City; by her brothers, Jamie (Marcie) Correll of Lake Ann, Jesse (Jessica) Correll of Grawn and Joseph Correll and friend Jeannie Brooks, of Traverse City; by her grandparents, Mike and Judy DeWitt and Maxine Lautner, all of Traverse City; her nieces and nephews, Aaron Joseph Correll, Tiffany Kristan Brand, Don Brand, Jesse Alexander Correll, Jazmyn Hope Correll and Kala May Taylor-Correll; by her aunt, Kelli DeWitt of Traverse City; and by her Lautner aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandpa, LaVern Lautner; and by her cousin, Tod Lautner. Visitation for Christan will take place Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 30, 2004, at the Bible Baptist Church, with Pastor Joel Brown officiating. Burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery in Traverse City. TRAVERSE CITY - Sometimes there is given to us a brilliant burst of starlight to reflect God's awesome presence in our midst. Adrian Elyse Morris was one of those wonderful points of light that was granted to us for a short time. On August 25, 2004, our beautiful bright angel was suddenly taken to the presence of her Heavenly Father, where she lives in joy and peace forever. Her family sadly, but prayerfully, releases her to our God, whose grace and mercy endures forever. He surely knew we would have her but a short time; so He gave her multiple talents and gifts to amaze and delight us. Adrian was an artist, singer, musician, writer, dancer, and so much more. Her faith in Jesus was secure and strong and her joyful spirit will continue to give us light forever. Born on July 21, 1987, in Forrest City, Ark., Adrian had lived in Traverse City with her parents for the past 12 years. She enjoyed working with her mom at Curves and had recently begun working at Banana Tree in downtown Traverse City. Adrian is survived by her parents, Loyd A. and Penelope L. Morris and her brother, Kent; her half sisters, Celeste Morris and Mallory Glover; by her boyfriend, Nathan Landrum, who was the love of her life; her grandparents, Jerry and Sherry McMinn of Wynne, Ark.; and Pastor Robert and Roxanne Collier of Lake Ann. Also surviving is her great-grandfather, Marshall Durham of California; great-grandmother, Alma McMinn of Wynne, Ark.; her aunt, Leahanne; her uncle, Chris Collier of Fla.; and her aunt and uncle Elaine Brooner and Bill Morris, both of Kansas. Several cousins also survive. Visitation will take place today, Aug. 29, 2004, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Services for Adrian will take place at 3 p.m., Monday, Aug. 30, 2004, at the Church of the Living God, with her grandfather officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery at Long Lake. Front St., Traverse City, MI 49684. NORTHPORT - Roland Douglas "Buster" Dame Jr., 80, of Northport, died Aug. 27, 2004, at the Leelanau Memorial Health Center. Born Oct. 11, 1923, in Peoria, Ill., to Rose Schaeffer and Roland Douglas Dame Sr., Buster spent his elementary school years in Northport, moving to Wheaton Academy in Wheaton, Ill. until his junior year in high school, when he returned to Northport, where he graduated. On March 20, 1943, he married his high school sweetheart, Jeanne Stowe, who survives Buster, and they remained together for 60 years until his death. Immediately following their wedding, they set off together for Texas, where Buster began his military career in the Army. Buster served as an MP in the 80th Infantry Division from 1943 to 1946 and took part in World War II, in Europe, from 1943 to 1945, where he provided protection on numerous occasions for meetings among Generals Patton, Eisenhower, and Bradley. After his military service, Buster returned to Northport where he worked as a rural mail carrier for 33 years. Buster loved hunting and fishing, but he will be best remembered as one who dedicated his life to working with the youth of Northport. In 1957, he founded the Northport Youth Program and co-founded the Leelanau County Little League. He was the recipient of Northport's Most Distinguished Citizen Award on June, 22, 1986, and to honor his many years of service, the baseball diamonds in Northport were renamed Buster Dame Ballpark at a community ceremony held on July 30, 1995. Buster served as Boy Scout Master for 30 years, earning the Silver Beaver Award, one of the most prestigious awards in Scouting. He was also active in officiating basketball games at both the high school and collegiate levels, receiving a plaque from the Michigan High School Athletic Association for his 30 years of service as an official. Buster is survived by his wife, Jeanne Dame; brothers, Orlin of Traverse City, Elwood of Tampa, Fla. and Cleland of Utica; daughter, Maxine (Gaylon) Charter of Northport; sons, Guy (Carol) Dame of Coppell, Texas and Denny Dame of Lake Ann; grandchildren, Abbi and Greg Charter of Northport, Sarah Dame of Lake Ann, Allison and Trevor Dame of Coppell, Texas, and Meghan Dame of Tolar, Texas. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Trinity Church in Northport. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, at 2 p.m., also at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Martinson Funeral Home in Suttons Bay. \ Phoenix, Ariz. - Shawna Marie Call, 45, of Phoenix, Ariz., beloved mother, daughter and sister, passed peacefully, having been called to be with our Lord on Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, at the Cancer Center of America in Tulsa, Okla. Shawna fought a valiant and courageous battle against a recurrent bout of breast cancer that had spread to her lungs. Shawna was born Sept. 17, 1958, in Huron, S.D., living also in California and Washington, and spent the remainder of her life in Phoenix. Shawna lived life to the fullest, a single mother, especially proud of her children and her accomplishments. She loved animals, enjoyed her early mornings on her porch, enjoying the peace of the Lord and watching the birds. Shawna worked hard in life, at times struggling as most single mothers do, achieving recent graduation from Devry University. She worked as a computer analyst at Salt River Project in Phoenix, gaining many friendships over the last few years. Throughout her ordeals over the last several months, friends, including some she had yet to meet, stepped up to help maintain her home, donate their vacation and sick time, and stood by her in her time of need. Shawna is survived by her mother, Rose Ann (Small) Marlar of Mesa, Ariz.; son, Shane (Chrissy) Hunter and their son Tyler of Benzonia; son, Damon (Dana) Hunter and children, Corey, Alyssa and Blake of Wichita, Kan.; daughters, Amanda Marshay Aguilar-Miller and Rheanna Leigh Call of Phoenix; brothers, Brad (Pamela) Maunders of Arlington, Texas, Rocky Maunders (Kristine) of Phoenix, and Joe (Jana) Maunders of Tea, S.D.; stepmother, Flo Wright of Phoenix; nine nieces and nephews; and other relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Rex Call; grandparents, Helen and Chuke Small; and stepfathers, Ross Frampton, Art Wright and Sam Marlar.
