December 3, 2004ObituariesGEORGE E. COCHRANE, 86, of Boon, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at his daughter's home in Boon. Services will be Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, at 2 p.m., at the Boon Baptist Church, with the Rev. Clifton C. Burritt officiating. Arrangements are by the Hitesman-Holdship Funeral Home in Cadillac. Memorial services for JoANN H. LINSLEY, 74, of Hamilton, N.Y., who died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, have been changed to Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, at 7 p.m., at the Colgate University Chapel House in Hamilton, N.Y. Arrangements are by the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad St., Hamilton, N.Y. CHESTER E. NUGENT, 94, of Frankfort, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004. A full obituary will follow in the Record-Eagle. The Benzonia Chapel of McElduff Funeral Home and Cremation Service is handling the arrangements. MIKE WESTON, 68, of Traverse City, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at home. Friends may call Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. A complete obituary will be in Saturday's edition of the Record-Eagle. RAPID CITY - Almon "Al" Horton, 83, of Rapid City, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at his home. Born on Sept. 28, 1921, in Chelsea, he was the son of Albert and Vera Horton. Al married Marie G. Papke on Feb. 6, 1942, in Wayne. He was a veteran, serving in the Army Air Corps, and was stationed overseas for three years. Al and Marie moved to Rapid City in 1981 from Wayne. He retired from Wayne County Child Development Center in Northville in 1976, after 27 years of service. Al was avid golfer and enjoyed hunting. He loved his wife, sons and grandchildren immensely. Surviving are Marie, his wife of 62 years; two sons, Michael A. (Priscilla) Horton and Kim A. Horton, both of Rapid City; two wonderful grandchildren, Laurie (Gabe) Glynn of California and Matthew Horton of Rapid City; brother, Lyle Horton of Wayne; sister-in-law, Dorothy Horton of Ypsilanti; and several nephews. Preceding Al in death were his brothers, Robert and Donald. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Munson Hospice, 1106 Sixth Street, Traverse City, MI 49684. Arrangements were made by the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. NORTHPORT - Madeleine R. Gaudette, formerly of Somersworth, N.H. and Ellenton, Fla., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at the home of her daughter in Northport after a lengthy illness. Madeleine was born Dec. 6, 1927, in Somersworth, N.H., the daughter of Adelard J. and Aurore (Couture) Hebert. On June 7, 1947, she married Arthur C. Gaudette, also of Somersworth. They were the parents of two children, Steven C. Gaudette and Carol A. (Gary) Fredrickson. Madeleine was a member of St. Martin's Church in Somersworth, N.H. and a bookkeeper for Public Service of New Hampshire for many years. After their retirements they moved to Ellenton, Fla., where she was a bookkeeper for Siemens Corporation, and later, a receptionist for Lane and Associates. She was also a member of Holy Cross Church in Palmetto, Fla. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, sewing and reading. She is survived by her husband, Arthur (Joe) Gaudette; daughter, Carol (Gary) Fredrickson of Northport; grandchildren, Michael (Michelle) Gaudette of North Berwick, Maine, Christian (Holly) Gaudette of Dresden, Tenn., Jeffrey (Ronda) Gaudette of North Berwick, Maine, Gregory (Dee) Fredrickson of Grawn, Nels (Kathy) Fredrickson of Jenison and Christine Fredrickson of Northport; great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Dunn of North Berwick, Maine, Grant, Elizabeth and Davis Fredrickson of Grawn and Owen Fredrickson of Jenison. She is also survived by her brother, Eugene (Ruth) Hebert of Somersworth, N.H.; and by a niece, nephews and many cousins. Madeleine was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Therese Hebert; son, Steven Gaudette; and granddaughter, Randa Marie Fredrickson. Visitation will take place at the Bernier Funeral Home in Somersworth, N.H. on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, from 3 to 7 p.m. Her funeral will be at St. Martin's Church in Somersworth on Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, at 10 a.m., with burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Somersworth. Those desiring may consider memorials to the Grand Traverse Area Hospice or the charity of your choice in place of flowers. Arrangements were handled by the Martinson Funeral Home in Suttons Bay. TRAVERSE CITY - Lavina B. "Vi" Kimmerly, 91, of Traverse City, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at Orchard Creek Assisted Living. Born Jan. 26, 1913, in Leland, she was the daughter of William and Anna (Nerland) Carlson. On Aug. 23, 1934, in Leland, she married Bruce A. Kimmerly, who preceded her in death on Jan. 7, 1968. Vi worked as a clerk for Bartlings Clothing Store in Traverse City for 48 years. She loved to play cards, read, do crafts, and will be remembered as a very independent woman. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Jean Hill of Muskegon; granddaughters, Julie A. Hoad and Kim M. Medema; six great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Donna Vowinkle; sister-in-law, Beatrice Kimmerly; good neighbor, Jack Priest; and special nieces, Bonnie and Eloise. Vi was preceded in death by her husband; sisters, Leone Telgard and Gertrude Kimmerly; and brothers, Clarence, Lester and Edward Carlson. Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at 2 p.m., at the Martinson Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Pam Fulton will officiate. Burial will follow in the Leelanau Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions would be appreciated to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are by the Martinson Funeral Home in Suttons Bay. GRAND RAPIDS - Mrs. Terri Lynn (Hartley) Wilson, 46, formerly of Traverse City, went to be with her Lord Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004. Mrs. Wilson is survived by her husband, Todd; son, Brandon and fiancé, Courtney Raschi of Traverse City; stepdaughters, Kelli Renee of Detroit, Kyla Rae and fiancé, Aaron Murrel, and Hannah and Mariah Wilson, all of Grand Rapids; granddaughter, Koralee; mother, Zurlene Folse of Belle Chasse, La.; brother, James D Hartley of Interlochen and his children, James and Nicole; sister, Deana and Marshall Tompkins and their children, Meagan and Mike Zych, Ian and Cary. She was preceded in death by her father, James Hartley. Friends may meet the family on Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Saturday, Dec. 4, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., at the VanStrien-Creston Chapel, 1833 Plainfield N.E., Grand Rapids, MI 49505. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, at 3 p.m., at Oakhill Presbyterian Church, 1930 Leonard N.E., Grand Rapids, MI. The Rev. Jeff Carlson will officiate. "Bill" Garvin, 74, of Maple City, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at Munson Medical Center. Born June 14, 1930, in Ashland, Wis., he was the son of J. Howard and Mildred L. Garvin. In September of 1973 he married the former Patricia L. Clark, the most wonderful woman a man could ever hope for. Joining their two families together, they completed the raising of their five children. Survivors include his wife, Patricia; children, Michael R. Garvin, Holly K. Blevins, Timothy J. Garvin, Scott R. Garvin and Steven R. Garvin; and grandchildren, Liesse Marshall, and Tia and Jayna Garvin. Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time. Memorials may be considered to the American Cancer Society. The Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home of Traverse City is serving the family.
