Obituaries

      CURTIS BROWN, 62, of Gaylord, died Friday, Dec. 10, 2004, in Georgia.
      Visitation will be today, Dec. 14, 2004, from 3 to 7 p.m., at the Nelson Funeral Home in Gaylord. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004, at 1 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Gaylord, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Columbia, S.C.
      Arrangements are by the Nelson Funeral Home in Gaylord.

      DOROTHY JOHNSTON, 89, of Manistee, formerly of Ludington, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, at the Manistee County Medical Care Facility.
      Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Dorrell Funeral Home, 605 N. Washington Ave., Ludington. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 16, at 1:30 p.m., also at the funeral home.

      WAYMOND KIRK, 71, of Gaylord, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, in Petoskey.
      Visitation will be today, Dec. 14, 2004, from 1 to 8 p.m., at the Nelson Funeral Home in Gaylord. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004, at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Gaylord.
      Arrangements are by the Nelson Funeral Home in Gaylord.

      MARGARET M. MAJKSZAK, 92, of Eastlake, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004, at her home.
      Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., at the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee, where Prayers from the Order of Christian Funerals will be held at 8 p.m. The Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated Thursday, Dec. 16, 2004, at 10 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee. Burial will follow the Mass in the Mount Carmel Cemetery in Manistee.
      The Herbert Funeral Home of Manistee is in charge of arrangements.

E. "Scott" Connine
Died December 12, 2004

      HASLETT - E. "Scott" Connine, 58, of Haslett, passed away Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004. He was born in Traverse City on Jan. 27, 1946, the son of Edwin S. and Viola (Ohrenberger) Connine.
      Scott had been a bus driver for C.A.T.A., a Delhi Township police officer and retired from General Motors in 1999, following 19 years of service.
      He was also an aspiring concert pianist.
      Survivors include his wife of nearly 20 years, Anne Connine; daughters, Tara Demarcov and Mischa Connine; stepchildren, Rob (Laura) Everett, Elizabeth Everett and Elaine (Michael) Rexford; six step-grandchildren; and one brother, Ronald (Mary) Connine.
      He was preceded in death by his parents; and his stepmother, Diane Connine.
      A memorial service will be held at a later date in the state of Washington.
      In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Capitol Area Humane Society.
      Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.
     

Gary Watson
Died December 6, 2004

      BENZONIA - Gary Watson, 67, of Benzonia, passed away suddenly Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at home. He was born Sept. 6, 1937, at home on East Duck Lake Road in Grawn, the son of Linton and Ethelyn Watson.
      Mr. Watson was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and building. He and his wife were the founders and owners of Silver Orchard, Inc.
      Gary is survived by his wife, Sheryl, whom he married on April 19, 1963; five children, Brenda (Gary) Weisenberger of Ovid, Mark (Chris) Miller of Kingsley, Gary "Bud" (Susan) Watson II of Interlochen, William Watson of Interlochen and Jayne (Lonny) Radtke of Interlochen; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; mother, Ethelyn; sister, Marlene (Elwin) Evans; and many nieces and nephews.
      He was preceded in death by his father; and three children, Joseph, Chad and Amy Jo Watson.
      Funeral services were be conducted Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, at the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home in Beulah, with Pastor Dan Ingersol officiating. Interment was in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Grawn.
      Memorial contributions may be considered to the American Red Cross for the Florida hurricane victims to help with the tragic losses that Gary witnessed first hand this fall. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
      The Bennett-Barz Funeral Home in Beulah is in charge of the arrangements.
