Obituaries


      MICHAEL JOSEPH LEE, 46, of Eastport, formerly of Ellsworth, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at home.
      Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
     
      EVELYN E. KIRSCH, 89, of Traverse City, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004, in Davison.
      Arrangements are pending and will be announced by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, Traverse City.
     
      RICHARD J. NOVAK, 62, of Beulah, passed away on Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, at home.
      Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, at the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home in Beulah. Visitation will be held Friday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
      A full obituary will appear in the Friday edition of the Traverse City Record-Eagle.
     
      TRAVERSE CITY - Arthur L. Barnard Jr., 83, died Dec. 13, 2004, at Hope Village in Williamsburg.
      Arthur was born March 4, 1921, in Detroit to Arthur L. Barnard Sr., and Gladys (Files). He married Helen Mae Kettunen on Oct. 28, 1944, in Highland Park.
      After 37 years of working at Excello Corp., Art retired as Plant Manager in 1981.
      Retired and living up north, he attended the Presbyterian Church.
      Art enjoyed golf and was very proud to say that he had two holes-in-one. He also enjoyed table tennis and had won many medals in county and state competitions.
      Art loved to make people laugh as the Master of Ceremonies at many gatherings. Family and friends will remember him as being the life of the party.
      Besides his wife, Helen, Art is survived by two sons, Michael (Sherry) Barnard of Traverse City and John (Joyce) Barnard of Central Lake; a sister, Shirley Miller of Dearborn; a granddaughter, Leanne Barnard, and grandson, Jeffrey Barnard of Gaylord. Art is also survived by former daughter-in-law, Nancy Barnard.
      Arthur was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Virginia Cummings.
      Cremation has taken place and a gathering and memorial service of family and friends will take place at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, at Hope Village in Williamsburg, with Rev. Becky Chamberlain officiating.
      In lieu of flowers , memorial donations may be directed to Munson Hospice, 1105 Sixth St. Traverse City, MI 49684-2386, or to the charity of one's choice.
      Arrangements are being made by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
     
      TRAVERSE CITY - LaVerne "Tom" Winchester, formerly of Traverse City and owner/operator of Winchester Aviation died Dec. 11, 2004. He resided in Green Valley, Ariz., and Gulliver Lake, Mich.
      Tom Winchester was born Dec. 9, 1926, in Doerr, the eldest son of Walter and Florence Barber Winchester. His wife of 57 years, Margaret Rozeboom Winchester survives; as do three children and six grandchildren.
      Memorials may be directed to the Tucson Heart Hospital, 4888 N. Stone Ave, Tucson, AZ 85704.
