Obituaries

      ROBERT A. BROWN, 45, of Central Lake, died Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, at home.
      Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes, where the family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until time of services.

      LT. COL. LEE FARRELL, 88, of Buckley, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, in Savannah, Ga. He was the son of Lee and Mildred Farrell.
      Lee graduated from Buckley High School in 1935, and from Michigan State University in 1939. He was a retired 26-year veteran of the U.S. Army.

      PATTI A. ROSE, 47, of Frankfort, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
      A memorial service will be held at a later date.
      The Benzonia Chapel of McElduff Funeral Homes is handling the arrangements.

      ROBERT 'BOB' SABOL, 72, of Lake City, passed away Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, at his home.
      Visitation will take place today, Dec. 21, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Young Funeral Home in Lake City.
      Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Kalkaska. Burial will be in Lake City Cemetery.

      DAVID L. WILSON, 46, of Kalkaska, died Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, at his home.
      Visitation will take place this evening, Dec. 21, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska.
      Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, at Wolfe Funeral Home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
     
Joseph S. Gatzke Jr.
Died December 18, 2004
      TRAVERSE CITY - Joseph S. Gatzke Jr., 77, of Traverse City, died at his residence Dec. 18, 2004.
      Joseph was born April 22, 1927, in Detroit to Joseph Sr. and Josephine (Schneider) Gatzke.
      After graduating from Denby High School in Detroit, Joseph became a United States serviceman. Over the years he belonged to the United States Navy and the United States Army, and served in World War II and Vietnam.
      Joseph also worked for the United States Postal Service since 1965, and was a letter carrier in the City of Grosse Pointe until his retirement in 1987.
      Joseph was a member of the Cherryland V.F.W. and the Traverse City Coin and Stamp Collecting Club.
      Joseph was the father of Terry Gatzke. He also leaves one brother, Raymond (Peg) Gatzke, and one sister, Shirley Schopieray, both of Traverse City. He was the uncle of Mark, Colleen, Geralyn, Schally, Robert, Diane, James and Susan.
      Joseph was predeceased by his parents; twin brother, James (1969); and a brother, Leonard (1933).
      Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, at St. Francis Catholic Church with the Rev. Ken Stachnik officiating. Family will be receiving visitors one hour prior to Mass.
      The family would appreciate memorial donations be given to Mass Intentions.
      Arrangements are being handled by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.

Linda Jean Filhart
Died December 19, 2004
      BAY CITY - Linda Jean Filhart, 55, of Bay City, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, at her residence. She was born June 22, 1949, in Traverse City, the daughter of William and Helen (Milnickel) Dunham.
      Linda had worked as a nursing assistant at Bay Medical Care Facility in Essexville, and also at The Maples in Frankfort. She was a past member of the American Legion Read-Osborne Post Ladies Auxiliary in Copemish; and in her spare time she enjoyed arts and crafts, and playing cards and bingo.
      On Aug. 10, 1979, in Beulah, Linda married Michael John Filhart, who survives. She is also survived by four sons, Kevin (Amy) Voice of Kingsley, Todd (Missy Monroe) Voice of Thompsonville, Mick Filhart of White Lake, and Jon (Dawn) Filhart of Pontiac; her mother, Helen M. Manville of Thompsonville; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, William (Pam) Dunham of Thompsonville and John (Cheryl Powell) Dunham of Thompsonville; one step-sister, Charlotte (Bill) Drake Traverse City; one step-brother, James (Amy) Manville of Colorado; one half-sister, Christie Dunham of Traverse City; her special friend, Mary Lawrence of Bay City; and several nieces and nephews.
      Linda was preceded in death by her father; her sister, Diana Kitchen; a step-sister, Sharlene Spears; and her step-father, Ralph Manville.
      Visitation will held today, Dec. 21, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Terwilliger Funeral Home.
      Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, at the Terwilliger Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Cleon Township Cemetery in the spring.
