Obituaries

TRAVERSE CITY - David Vincent Snell, 61, of Traverse City, died suddenly Monday, Dec. 20, 2004.
      David was born April 6, 1943, in Whitmore Lake to Vincent and Ruth (Eberhardt) Snell. He graduated from Whitmore Lake High School and attended Cleary College.
      David worked in real estate for over 30 years, and recently had been a sales representative for True Green Chem Lawn.
      He was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force.
      An avid fisherman, David enjoyed tying his own flies for fly-fishing.
      David is survived by his wife, Sharon. He was the father of Michael, Richard and Robert Snell; stepfather of Steven and Brian Gibson; and leaves behind several grandchildren.
      He was predeceased by his parents.
      A private remembrance gathering will take place at a later date.
      Memorial donations will be appreciated to the Father Fred Foundation, P.O. Box 2260, Traverse City, MI 49685-2260.
      Arrangements are being handled by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.

      GRAND RAPIDS - Mrs. Beatrice O. Keenan, 88, of Grand Rapids, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004.
      She is survived by her son, Tim Keenan, and his wife, Dawn Campbell of Traverse City; daughter and son-in-law, Eve and Marshall Baer of Woodstock, N.Y.; daughter, Charlee Keenan of Saugatuck; daughter, Cindy Soto-Keenan, and her husband, Reynaldo of Grand Rapids; grandchildren, Christine, Gregory, Geoffrey, Ian, Jovan, Beatrice, Jonathon, Colin, Jacob, Morganne, Katie and Mikki; great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Eli, Evan, Xavier, Tessa and Nathan; great-great-grandchildren, Hannah, Talula and Valen; sister, Edna (Norm) Laham of Grand Rapids; and numerous friends that meant so much to her.
      She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, who was the love of her life.
      The family will greet relatives and friends today, Dec. 22, 2004, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., at the Pederson Funeral Home in Rockford. The Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Keenan will be offered Thursday morning, Dec. 23, 2004, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2750 Burton St. SE, Grand Rapids, with additional visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Please gather at the church where the Rev. Monsignor Ernest P. Schneider will be presiding. Interment will be in Rosedale Memorial Park.

      GRETEL D. (SLACK) BERNARDINI, 88, of Traverse City, died Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, at Arbor House Assisted Living.
      A full obituary with service information will be in a future edition of the Record-Eagle.
      The family is being served by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.

      MISTY CASEY, 19, died suddenly in Kalkaska County.
      A memorial gathering and celebration will take place on Monday, Dec. 27, 2004, at 11 a.m. at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.

      THE REV. CHARLES E. FRANKLIN, 50, of Wellston, died Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, at West Shore Medical Center in Manistee.
      The family will receive friends Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the Johnson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, at 11 a.m. at the Cherry Grove Church of the Nazarene near Cadillac, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
      The family is being served by the Johnson Funeral Home in Manistee.

      KENNY LeROY RONK, 53, of Traverse City, formerly of Marion, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, at Munson Medical Center.
      Funeral services took place at the Fosnaught-Holdship Funeral Home in Marion. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

      EVELYN RUTH STAIN, 92, of Benzonia, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, at Munson Hospice House.
      Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, at 1 p.m. at the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home in Beulah, with Deacon Rene Hoenscheid officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
      Arrangements are by the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home in Beulah.
