Kenny LeRoy Ronk
Died December 18, 2004
TRAVERSE CITY - Kenny LeRoy Ronk of Traverse City, formerly of Marion, went home to be with his heavenly Father for Christmas on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, at Munson Medical Center. He was 53.
Kenny was born May 16, 1951, to Neal and Esther (Brothwell) Ronk. On Dec. 1, 1970, he became the proud father of his only child, Christine Michele.
On Dec. 21, 1973, Kenny was in an auto accident that changed his life forever. He never gave up, kept fighting, and started over from the beginning. We were blessed with 31 more wonderful years of his smile and laughter.
Kenny touched so many lives. He had a smile for everyone he met. His heart was generous and always trusting. He saw the good in everyone, even if others couldn't. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, smoking and riding in his wheelchair with his friend and partner in crime, Glen. Most of all, you could always find Kenny with a lottery ticket.
Kenny is survived by his mother, Esther of Bay City; daughter, Christine (Ricky) Adams; four grandchildren, Shelby, Knowl, Landon and Maitland Adams of Traverse City; two brothers, Neal (Bonnie) Ronk of Bay City and David (Carol) Ronk of Jackson; one sister, Barbara Krawczak of Bay City; his former roommate and friend, Burke H. of Grand Traverse Pavilions; his best buddy, Glen B. of Birchwood Nursing Home; and many nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his father; and one grandson, Quincy Adams.
The family would like to thank the staff at Birchwood Nursing Center for all the love and care they have given Kenny over the past four years. He came to love each and everyone of you. We know you brightened his day as much as he did yours. A special thank you to the staff of Munson's ICU step-down for making Kenny comfortable during his final hours and for being so comforting to us during this rough time. Thank you David, Claine, and especially Myk for the Coke and sneaking the children in to see grandpa. He really loved that. Dr. Mike Carroll, thank you for standing by even though it was your weekend off. You showed us what a truly caring doctor really is, and you have renewed our faith in medicine.
Visitation and funeral services have taken place at the Fosnaught-Holdship Funeral Home in Marion, with burial in the Greenwood Cemetery in Marion. Pastor Dennis Williams officiated the services.
A memorial service will be held Thursday Dec. 30, 2004, at 2 p.m., at Birchwood Nursing Center in Traverse City.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Education Fund of his Grandchildren, in care of Christine Adams. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
