Obituaries

PLYMOUTH - Kenneth E. Way, 77, died June 4, 2004.
      He was the beloved husband of Beatrice for the last 54 years; loving father of Bill (Joyce) Way and Olivia Way; dearest grandfather of Jennifer (Scott) Weaver and Jonathan Way; dearest great-grandfather of Ana Weaver; and the dear brother of Shirley (Albert) Behnke.
      Mr. Way was the retired Assessor/Treasurer for the city of Plymouth. He worked for the city for 38 years. He loved the community where he lived and worked. He retired in 1992 and moved with his wife to Rapid City. He was a member of the Plymouth Kiwanis evening group for over 40 years, the Calvary Baptist Church in Plymouth, and the Plymouth Masonic Rock Lodge. During World War II he served proudly in the Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theatre. He enjoyed traveling and reading about cars and their history.
      Visitation will be on Sunday, June 6, 2004, from 1 to 9 p.m., at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 S. Main, Plymouth. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 7, 2004, at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home.
     
      KEWADIN - Jeanne Allen Templin, 82, of Kewadin, died Friday, June 4, 2004, at Munson Medical Center.
      Born March 27, 1922, in Harvey, Ill., she was the daughter of Don Cameron and Elva Delilah (Stemen) Allen.
      In 1942, in South Carolina, she married Webb Wheeler Templin, who immediately after the wedding, went on to serve his country honorably with the United States Army Air Corps during World War II.
      She acquired her degree in elementary education and she later taught and received great satisfaction from helping children with special needs.
      Jeanne was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Elk Rapids, Torch Lake Artisans Guild, Alden and Elk Rapids Schools lunch "Buddy" program, and Torch Lake Grange 1840.
      Although Jeanne was a perfectionist, she also had a special gentleness and patience which was not found in most people. She enjoyed baking bread, sewing, stained glass, quilting, genealogy, her bridge club, and all animals, especially chipmunks.
      Jeanne will be fondly remembered for her dedication to teaching and her love and devotion to her family.
      Survivors include her two daughters, Cameron Jeanne (Hobart) Lee and Heather (James) Knust, all of Rapid City; five grandchildren, Amy Jeanne (Randy) Russell, Michael Webb Lee, Holly Ellen Knust, Brad Webb Templin and Natalie Ann Templin; three great-grandchildren, Andrew Michael Woods, Scott Webb Russell and Logan James Knust; many beloved nieces and nephews; and her much loved dog, Penny.
      Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 5, 1988; her son, Scott Templin; two sisters, Thelma Cantrell and Mary Wehr; and a brother, Don Allen.
      Friends may call at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City on Tuesday, June 8, 2004, from 4 to 8 p.m. Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Elk Rapids on Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Dr. Daniel Herlein will officiate the services.
      Burial will be in Milton Township Cemetery.
      In remembrance, memorial contributions may be directed to the Antrim County Animal Rescue Group, "With A Little Help From My Friends", the Alzheimer's Association or the First Presbyterian Church in Elk Rapids.
     
      COCOA, FLA. - Ronald C. Booth, 57, of Cocoa, Fla., formerly of Elk Rapids, died Tuesday, June 2, 2004, at Wuesthoff Hospital in Rockledge, Fla. He was born Jan. 7, 1947, in Traverse City, to Clayton and Donna (Dingman) Booth. Ronald was a kind and loving husband and father. He is a former member of the Elk Rapids Lions Club.
      Ronald is survived by his wife, Linda, of Cocoa, Fla.; three sons, Scott (Debbie) Booth of Green Cove Springs, Fla., Steven Booth of Daytona Beach, Fla. and Charles "Bud" Rouse of Cocoa, Fla.; three daughters, Lauri King of Titusville, Fla., Jodi (Roger) Morris and Kacey Rouse, both of Kalkaska; nine grandchildren; his mother, Donna Booth of Elk Rapids; one brother, Roger Booth; and eight sisters, Charlene Bussa, Bonnie Corpe, Marilyn Sinclair, Myrna Howse, Janet Saylor, Carol Hinebach, Valerie Ball and Judy Parliament.
      Ronald is preceded in death by his father, Clayton.
      Visitation will take place on Tuesday, June 8, 2004, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Elk Rapids Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at 11 a.m., from the funeral home, with visitation one hour prior to the time of service. The Rev. Doyle Berg, from the Christ Community Church in Traverse City, will officiate.
      Burial will be on Friday, June 11, 2004, at 2 p.m., in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Elk Rapids.
      Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
      Arrangements have been entrusted to the Elk Rapids Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes.
