JAY A. DOE, 92, of Kalkaska, died Saturday, June 12, 2004, at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center Long Term Care.
      Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 14, 2004, at 11 a.m., with visitation to be one hour prior to the service, at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Kalkaska.
      A full obituary will appear in the Monday edition of the Record-Eagle.

      Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2004, at the Fife Lake United Methodist Church.

      Memorial services for EMMA SUE JOHNSON, 72, of Traverse City, who died on Feb. 20, 2004, will be held at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City on Sunday, June 27, 2004, at 2 p.m.
     
      PAULA J. MICHAUD, 68, died Friday, June 11, 2004, at Munson Medical Center.
      A private family service will be held on Monday, June 14, 2004.

      EDNA ROSENFIELD, 79, of Suttons Bay, died last night, Friday, June 11, 2004, at Munson Hospice House.
      Arrangements will be announced by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.
     
      HOWARD D. WILSON, 75, of Traverse City, died Saturday, June 12, 2004, at Munson Medical Center.
      Arrangements will be announced by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.
     
      RAPID CITY - Howard C. Wilson, 53, of Rapid City, formerly of the Flint area, died Thursday, June 10, 2004, at his residence.
      Howard was born, in Flint, on Feb. 22, 1951, the son of Harry and Irene (Floyd) Wilson. He had resided in the Flint area most of his life.
      Mr. Wilson was an avid outdoorsman and Harley Davidson Motor cyclist. Employed by General Motors Chevrolet, in the metal fab division, he retired in 2003.
      Howard is survived by a son, Howard "Howdy" (Michelle) Wilson; a daughter, Tamara "Tammy" Wilson of Flint; four grandchildren, Bethany, Garrett, Tyler "Bommer" and Trent; the mother of his children and his friend, Barbara Wilson of Mt. Morris; brothers, Leroy (Shirley) Wilson of Mt. Pleasant, Harry Wayne Wilson of Cheasing and Dale Wilson of Montrose; sisters, Betty Vincent of Fla. and Mary Kachelsky; a host of other relatives; and special friend, Linda Decker of Rapid City and her family, Erick and Edan.
      He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Josephine Conrad.
      The family will receive visitors on Monday, June 14, 2004, and Tuesday, June 15, 2004, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m., at the Groves Chapel Hansen Funeral Home, 421 N. Main St., Davison, MI. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at 1 p.m., also at the funeral home.
      For those that desire, contributions may be made to the family for a future memorial.
     
      LANSING - Dr. Ronald K. Edwards passed away at his home on June 11, 2004. He was born August 31, 1929, in Lansing, to Oscar and Lela Edwards.
      Ron graduated from Vermontville High School in 1946 and joined the U.S. Army. He served in the 11th Airborne during the occupation of Japan.
      He received his bachelor's degree in Accounting from Ferris State College in 1952, his masters degree in Educational Administration & Supervision from the University of Tennessee in 1953 and his docorate in Business Education from Michigan State University in 1969. On March 21, 1953, he married the love of his life, Ivanna May, in Baldwin.
      Dr. Edwards taught high school in Flat Rock and Reed City. Eventually he returned to Lansing to join the staff at Lansing Community College. Dr. Edwards was the department chair of Accounting and Office Programs, and was an innovator of the Audio-Visual-Tutorial System of Education. He also authored and co-authored several textbooks. He retired in 1986 after 23 years of service at Lansing Community College.
      Ron was fond of the outdoors and loved to hunt, fish, golf and travel in his fifth-wheel. Ron and Ivanna were part-time residents of the Clinch Park Marina in Traverse City. They also enjoyed spending time with their many friends at their winter home in Arizona.
      Ron is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ivanna; three children and their spouses; and six grandchildren; Ronda, David, Ethan and Brandon Barth of Traverse City, Rita, Bill, Rachel and Krista Stanton, and Robert, Karen, Evan and Morgan Edwards of Lansing; two sisters, Velma (Henry) Croze of Cape Coral, Fla., and Lois (Sam) Marion of Lake City, Fla.; a half brother, Howard; a half sister, Mary Edwards of Naples, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.
      Ron was preceded in death by his parents; a half sister, Loia Jean Dutcher; and two sisters, Fay Lawhead and Marion Finch.
      The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, June 13, 2004, from 6 to 8 p.m., and on Monday, June 14, 2004, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Palmer, Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Home, Delta Chapel in Lansing. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 15, 2004, at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ron Otto officiating.
      The family requests, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Dr. Ronald K. Edwards Memorial Scholarship Fund at Lansing Community College, LCC Foundation Office, PO Box 40010, Lansing, MI 48901-7201.
     
      TRAVERSE CITY - John T. Sika, 85, of Traverse City, died early Saturday, June 12, 2004, surrounded by his family, at Munson Medical Center.
      John was born the son of Thomas S and Steffie (Skoumal) Sika on April 9, 1919, in Karlin. He married Zdenka A. Novak on August 9, 1941, in Cicero, Ill.
      John worked in Chicago for several years as an ornamental ironworker before moving to Traverse City with his family in 1966. It was here, in Traverse City, where John and his wife opened Z & J's Dumpling House. They, with the help of their children and grandchildren, ran the little family restaurant together for many years . John lived on Green Lake for years, where he enjoyed boating and fishing. He also enjoyed hunting, a good game of cards, bowling, and golf. John will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, grandpa, uncle, and friend. His presence in our lives will be greatly missed.
      John is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Zdenka; two children, John R. (Georgette) Sika and Rose (John) Brayton Jr.; six grandchildren, Robert J. (JoAnne) Sika, Carrie (Brian) Leffel, Tammy J. (Kevin) Brunan, Trisha J. (Todd) Ager, Tanya J. (Jarred) Cox and Tom Brayton; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Blanche (Jerry) Urban; two brothers, Thomas (Yolanda) Sika and Robert (Lois) Sika; and many nieces and nephews.
      John was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Jim, Jerry, Edward and Otto.
      Visitation will be held today, June 13, 2004, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 14, 2004, at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home, with visitation one hour prior to the time of service. The Rev. Tim Manzer will officiate.
      Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
     
      TRAVERSE CITY - Rose Mary (Pawloski) Anderson, 93, of Traverse City, died peacefully Friday, June 11, 2004, surrounded by the love of her family in the comfort of her home.
      Born Aug. 31, 1910, in Detroit, she was the daughter of Philip and Mary Ann (Knight) Pawloski. On April 7, 1934, in Copemish, Rose married Charles "Andy" Anderson, a widower. Rose was a mother to Andy's two children and, together, they had six more children.
      Rose had a great love for her family and St. Francis Catholic Church, where she was a long time parishioner. She was a past member of the Altar Society and The Rosary Makers. Rose loved to cook, garden and make rosaries.
      Survivors include two daughters, Betty (Ron) Park and Catherine "Kay" Anderson, a Grand Rapids Dominican Sister; three sons, Philip (Shirley) Anderson, Thomas (Mary) Anderson, and Robert Anderson; 22 grandchildren; and 41 great-grandchildren.
      Rose was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Andy; three sons, Al, Bill and Peter, in infancy; three brothers; one sister; three half brothers; and one half sister.
      Friends may call on Tuesday, June 15, 2004, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City, where a rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at 10 a.m., at St. Francis Catholic Church in Traverse City. Burial will be in the Oakwood Catholic Diocesan Cemetery in Traverse City.
      In remembrance of Rose, memorials may be directed to the Munson Hospice, the Grand Rapids Dominicans, Mass Intentions or the charity of your choice.
     
      ALDEN - Helene O. Aston, 101, of Alden, formerly of Mt. Clemens, passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2004, at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center Long Term Care. Born May 5, 1903, in Wurtenburg, Germany, she was the daughter of Friedrich and Madaline (Sterr) Bayer.
      When Helene first arrived in the United States in 1923, she worked as a nanny. She married George L. Aston on November 7, 1925, in Toledo, Ohio. They owned Clinton River Marina, Inc. for 52 years. She enjoyed flowers and gardening. Helene especially enjoyed her grandchildren; they were her life.
      Helene is survived by her son, Jack E. (Reida) Aston of Rapid City; her grandchildren, Scott Aston, Shelly Aston, Steven Aston, Sharlyn (Marty) Chapman, Sandra (Brent) Jansen, Susie Aston, George (Tiffany) Pomaville, and Helene (Robert) Griffus; and her great-grandchildren, Justin and Jordan Jansen, and David and Megan Griffus.
      Helene was preceded in death by her husband, George; and her daughters, Lucille F. Aston and Barbara L. Aston Pomaville.
      A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 14, 2004, at 1 p.m., at the Clinton Grove Cemetery in Mt. Clemens. A family memorial service will be held at a later date.
      Arrangements were made by Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska.
     
      MAPLE CITY - Mary Frances Nemeskal, 91, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2004, at Munson Medical Center.
      Born Feb. 2, 1913, in Maple City, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Novotny) Shalda, she lived in Maple City her entire life. In 1933 she married Leo Nemeskal and they had six children.
      Mary was a life long member of St. Rita-St. Joseph Catholic Church. She loved to polka and play Bingo. She spent her last three years in Maple Valley Nursing Home. Even in her last days, anytime polka music was being played, Mary would grab the nurses to dance with them.
      Mary is survived by four daughters, Marcella (Ron) Rice, Loretta (Leon) Galla, Rita Winowiecki, and Marita (Vince) Zywicki, all of Maple City; a son, Albert (Dynna) Nemeskal of Maple City; 21 grandchildren; and 41 great-grandchildren.
      She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo, who died in 1976; her son, Frank Nemeskal; a granddaughter, Lynnette Nemitz; and two brothers, Bill and Julius.
      Visitation will take place on June 15, 2004, from 6 to 9 p.m., at St. Rita-St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maple City, where a rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m.
      A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on June 16, 2004, at 11 a.m., at St. Rita-St. Joseph Church in Maple City with the Rev. Fr. William Lipscomb serving as celebrant. She will be buried in St. Joseph Cemetery on South Bohemian Road.
      Should friends desire, donations may be directed to the St. Joseph Preservation fund as an expression of sympathy.
      Arrangements are by Martinson Funeral Home in Suttons Bay.
     
      TRAVERSE CITY - Mrs. Cleo Isbister, wife, mother, and journalist, was born in Buckley to John Quincy and Blanche Pearl Hall. Following high school in Traverse City, she studied at the University of Michigan.
      She married Roy Isbister of Detroit and became mother to two children, Linda Diane Isbister of Dallas, Texas, and David Kent Isbister of Winston-Salem, N.C. In later years she completed her degree in Journalism at Michigan State University.
      Mrs. Isbister was a reporter for the Stevens Point Journal in Stevens Point, Wis., before being promoted to society editor. She was active in the Zonta professional women's organization for many years.
      Mrs. Isbister's enjoyment of her youth in Traverse City is captured in a autobiographical series of experiences that she authored entitled, "Dancing with the Daffodils." Her greatest gift to her children was teaching them to love reading literature and history.
      Her retirement years were spent in Traverse City, taking care of her parents and being near the natural beauty that she loved so much. Mrs. Isbister was a long time Presbyterian and an active member of the Traverse City Presbyterian Church.
      She is survived by her two children; her sister, Betty Peterson of Harlington Texas; and three grandchildren, Holly Kent Isbister, Laurel Christian Isbister and Katherine Currie Netter.
      She was predeceased by her other sister, Alma Elizabeth Sweeney.
      A memorial service has been scheduled on Saturday, June 19, at 11:30 a.m. at the Traverse City Presbyterian Church.
