Obituaries

SAMUEL THOMPSON, 85, of Traverse City, died on Saturday, June 26, 2004, at Munson Medical Center.
      Arrangements are pending and will be announced by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.
     
      CHRISTIANA, TENN. - Margaret Louise Grenon, 88, of Christiana, Tenn., died Wednesday, June 23, 2004, at the Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfressboro, Tenn. A Native of Flushing, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Louise (Yott) McKenzie.
      Mrs. Grenon played piano by ear and brought joy to many people with her talent. She was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Detroit and a homemaker. Mrs. Grenon was married to the late E. Eugene Grenon.
      She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gregory McKenzie Grenon and Mary Josephson of Portland, Ore.; daughters and sons-in-law, Krystin Louise Grenon and Robert D. Tutman of Chicago, Margot Anne and Russell Riser of Christiana, Tenn., and Mary Martha Grenon of Austin, Texas; and grandchildren, Aurora Josephson, Christopher Gregory Grenon, and Patrick and John Riser.
      Funeral Services will be held at a later date.
      The Woodfin Memorial Chapel in Murfressboro is in charge of local arrangements.
     
      TRAVERSE CITY - June E. Carps, 89, of Traverse City, died Tuesday, June 15, 2004, at the Grand Traverse Pavilions.
      Born June 1, 1915, in Detroit, she was the daughter of David E. and Alice L. (Scheere) Lostutter. On May 11, 1940, in Highland Park, she married Alvin Carps, who survives.
      Formerly of Royal Oak, June had been employed as a bookkeeper with Royal Oak Public Schools. She had been an active member of the First Congregational Church. A selfless caregiver, June took care of her aunt and cousin.
      June will be fondly remembered as a kind and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
      Along with her husband, Alvin, June is survived by two sons, Larry (Mary Jo) Carps of Fife Lake and Gary (Bobbie) Carps of Pataskala, Ohio; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
      She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister in infancy.
      A memorial service will be held at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City at 11 a.m. Monday, June 28. The Rev. Dr. Gary Hogue will officiate.
      Memorial contributions may be directed to Munson Hospice or the Alzheimer's Association.
