      ARDITH M. 'ARDIE' BRIDSON, 71, of Fife Lake, died Wednesday, May 5, 2004.
      Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at Covell-Smith Funeral Home in Kingsley.
      Arrangements have been entrusted to Covell Funeral Homes.
     
      RALPH R. BROTHERS, 74, of Bellaire, died Thursday, May 6, 2004, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
      Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 9, at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes, where family will receive friends Saturday, May 8, from 6 to 8 p.m.
     
      G. LORAINE O'ROURKE, age 76, of Vanderbilt, passed away Monday, May 3, 2004, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
      Cremation has taken place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Manistee. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
      The family has entrusted funeral arrangements to Oak Grove Cremation Center.
     
      JUNE PERSKI, 81, of Manistee, died Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at the Manistee County Medical Care Facility.
      Cremation has taken place and there will be no services.
      The Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee is in charge of arrangements.
     
      TRAVERSE CITY - Vivian L. Archer, 90, of Traverse City, passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at Bortz Health Care in Traverse City.
      Vivian was born June 1, 1913, in Cadillac, the daughter of Edwin and Olive (Phillips) Johnston. She married Harper E. Archer on Dec. 2, 1936, in Mt. Pleasant. Vivian Johnston Archer was a 1933 graduate of Central Michigan University. She was an art teacher at St. Louis Public Schools. Vivian was a life member of the First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed 20 years in Florida with her husband.
      Vivian is survived by her two sons, Ron (Kay Marie) Archer of Traverse City and Richard (Virginia Kay) Archer of Temple, Texas; her grandchildren, Mark (Sonya) Archer, Scott Archer, Craig (Tracey) Archer, Amy (John) Allert, Angela (Scott) Turner, Scott and Slade Dickson; eight great-grandchildren, Michael, Andrea, Jack and Benjamin Archer, Tyler DeGood, Andrew, Ashton and Archer Allert; one sister, Edna (Webb) Fairchild; and several nieces and nephews.
      Vivian was preceded in death by her husband, Harper E. Archer, on May 6, 2002; her parents; and her brother, Frank Johnston.
      Graveside services fro Vivian will be held Tuesday, May 11, at 11 a.m. at the Riverside Cemetery with Rev. John Boley officiating.

      HONOR - Ruth B. Bos-Taylor, age 93, of Honor, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at the Munson Hospice House.
      She was born Feb. 18, 1911, to Guy and Lila Hogle in Lansing. She married Martin Bos in 1930, and he died in 1954. She married Zack Taylor in 1957, he died in 1971.
      Mrs. Taylor is survived by her children, Helen (James) Johnson and Bill (Kay) Bos; 12 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two sisters Betty Cooper and Marian Miller.
      She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jean Bos-Rich, in 1981; son, Robert Bos, in 1983; brothers, Roy, Frank, Claude, Wesley and Guy Hogle; sisters, Helen Hogle and Laura Lanphear; and a grandson, Martin Bos.
      Ruth was an avid angler, and enjoyed cooking and canning. Summers were spent entertaining family and friends at her cottage on Big Platte Lake.
      Christian values and strong faith exemplified her life. Ruth was a member of the Beulahland Wesleyan Church, and was their oldest member. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her kindness and compassion will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
      Visitation will take place on Saturday, May 8, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
      The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home. Pastor Ken Blair will officiate. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 10, in Evergreen Cemetery, Lansing.
      Memorial contributions may be considered to the Beulahland Wesleyan Church, Munson Hospice, or donor's choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

      ELK RAPIDS - A. Dewitt Brewer, 86, of Elk Rapids, formerly of Mount Clemens, died Thursday, May 6, 2004.
      He was born in Spokane, Wash., on Sept. 21, 1917, the son of A.D. Brewer and Bessie Agnes (Ingraham) Brewer. On Nov. 4, 1944, he married Barbara Jeanne Davis in Grand Rapids.
      A graduate of Mount Clemens High School, Mr. Brewer earned his B.A. from Albion College in 1938 and master of science degree in journalism from Northwestern University. He later was elected to the Albion College Board of Trustees.
      Mr. Brewer started his career as a reporter and assistant editor of the Daily Leader, a predecessor of the Macomb Daily, where he worked until he became a counter-intelligence agent for the U.S. Army during World War II.
      When he returned to civilian life in 1946, Mr. Brewer was a political reporter for the Battle Creek Enquirer and News, and later became a public relations director for the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce from 1948-52.
      Mr. Brewer served as an associate public relations counsel for the Michigan State Medical Society from 1953-56. During that time he was also working in public relations with the West Michigan Office of Price Stabilization, the Grand Rapids United Fund and in the state Republican campaigns of 1952 and 1956.
      Mr. Brewer joined the Mount Clemens Savings and Loan Association in 1956 as its vice president. Nine years later he became president of the Savings and Loan, from whence he retired. Upon retirement, Mr. Brewer was senior vice president and the name of the business had changed to First Federal of Oakland.
      Mr. Brewer was a Rotarian and was active with local and state Republican politics. He was also active with First United Methodist Church of Mount Clemens, where he served as finance chairman.
      He is survived by his loving wife, Barb; three children, Emmy (Dan) Strong of Stow, Ohio, Bobbitt (Rick) Bellingham of Basking Ridge, N.J., and Ben Brewer of Kewadin; a sister, Emily Belle Matthews of Marshall; three grandchildren, Brian Strong of Stow, Ohio, Rebecca Bellingham of New York City, and Emily Bellingham of Basking Ridge, N.J.
      He was preceded in death by his grandson, Paul Dewitt Strong.
      A Service of Remembrance will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 6, at Elk Rapids United Methodist Church, with Rev. Thomas Pier-Fitzgerald officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church.
      The family asks those wishing to give memorials to please remember the Elk Rapids United Methodist Church or Northwood Village, 10774 U.S. 31 S., Williamsburg, MI 49690. Envelopes will be available at the church.

      TRAVERSE CITY - Jack Robert DeLorge, 84, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 5, 2004, at his home.
      Jack was born in Pontiac on April 15, 1920, the only son of Mable (Talmage) and Edward DeLorge.
      Jack received his college degree in engineering and at the time of his retirement, was the assistant director of purchasing for General Motors. In the mid 1980s, Jack and his wife moved to Lake Leelanau to enjoy their retirement.
      Jack enjoyed woodworking, fishing and bird hunting and was a member of The Elks. Most important to Jack was his family.
      Surviving Jack is his wife, Betty; a daughter, Coco (Allan) Young of Harrisville; step-children, Brian (Gail) Redder of Waterford and Kim (Rob) Floyd of Houston, Texas. Also surviving are two grandchildren and one great-grandson.
      Family services are being planned for a later time.
      Memorial contributions in Jack's name may be directed to the Elmwood Township Fire and Rescue.
      The family is being served by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
     
      TRAVERSE CITY - Jack Tankersley, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, died peacefully Wednesday morning at home surrounded by his family, following a brief illness.
      Jack was a colorful native Texan known for his humor, wit and unending dedication to family. He was an avid sports fan, especially faithful to the St. Francis Gladiators during his grandsons' years there playing football, basketball and baseball. He was also known to frequent auditoriums featuring drama and music performed by his granddaughters, and anxiously awaited reports and pictures from the Texas granddaughters' soccer and gymnastics activities.
      Jack was born Aug. 26, 1928, in Brownfield, Texas, as the seventh of nine children to Elva "Red" and Myrtle Rodgers Tankersley, who proceeded him in death.
      Jack graduated from Brownfield High School in 1948. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, becoming a Physical Training Instructor stationed at Fort Bragg, N. C., and later Fort Hood, Texas. In 1952 he was employed by Shell Oil Company in Denver City, Texas, later transferring to Ozona, Texas, and Traverse City, where he retired in 1986.
      Jack was married for 55 years to Cynthia Black Tankersley, who survives. He is also survived by daughters, Cynthia Suzanne "Suzy" (Jeff) Alpers of Traverse City, Jacquie Rene (Emerson) Dickey of Traverse City and Lenoir, N.C.; and son, James Milton (Courtney) Tankersley of Lake Dallas, Texas. Also surviving are grandsons, Brian (Bridgett) Beckwith and Benjamin Beckwith, granddaughters, Meagan Thomas and Micha Thomas, all of Traverse City, and granddaughters, Evyan Tankersley and Avery Tankersley of Lake Dallas.
      He enjoyed the special treat of great-grandchildren Isabelle and Jack Beckwith of Traverse City. Also surviving are siblings Sammie (Ralph) Dildine of Andrews, Texas, and Bill Tankersley of Brownfield, Texas; and special childhood friends and cousin, Mary and George Chisholm of Traverse City.
      He was preceded in death by mother-in-law, Irene "Mammy" Wright; brothers, Bert, Guy and Giggs Tankersley; sisters, Darlene Turner, Juanita Newsom and Dixie Burch.
      Friends may call at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City this evening, May 7, from 5 to 8 p.m.
      Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at Central United Methodist Church. The Rev. Tamara Williams will officiate.
      Memorial contributions may be made to Munson Hospice or to Central United Methodist Church.
     
      TRAVERSE CITY - Leonard L. Youmans, 82, formerly of Traverse City and Naples, Fla., passed away on May 5, 2004.
      He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; three children, Linda Youmans, Bill Youmans (Andi Larsen) and Sue Strayer (Doug Strayer); five grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Donaldson.
      A memorial service is being held on May 7, 2004, in Dearborn.
      Donations can be given to the Salvation Army.
