      ROBERT L. CRAM, 86, of Traverse City, died Wednesday evening, Nov. 3, 2004, in Traverse City.
      Arrangements are pending and will be announced by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.
     
      SIERRA NICHOLE FETTEROLF, 11, of Traverse City, died Wednesday evening, Nov. 3, 2004, as the result of an auto accident.
      Visitation will take place on Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004, from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. Services will be held Monday, Nov. 8, 2004, at 1 p.m., also at the funeral home.
      A complete obituary will appear in Saturday's edition of the Record-Eagle.
     
      MERLE GEORGE, 88, of Kalkaska, passed away Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, in Kalkaska.
      Visitation will be Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m., at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, 11280 32 Mile Rd., Romeo, MI, (586) 752-2000.
     
      KAREN LYNN GILHOOLY, MD, 46, of Traverse City, died Wednesday evening, Nov. 3, 2004, as the result of an auto accident.
      Visitation will be on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, from 5 to 7 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004, from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.
     
      LEROY E. HARPER, 68, of Beulah, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004.
      Visitation will be today, Nov. 5, 2004, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Terwilliger Funeral Home in Kaleva. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, at 1 p.m., also at the funeral home.
      A full obituary will be in the Saturday's edition of the Record-Eagle.
      The Terwilliger Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
     
      DAVID B. MANN, 71, of Leland, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, at his residence.
      Arrangements are pending and have been entrusted to the Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay.
     
      ROWAN M. SANFORD, 10, of Traverse City, died Wednesday evening, Nov. 3, 2004, as the result of an auto accident.
      Visitation will be on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, from 5 to 7 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004, from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.
     
      BLANCHE WORM, 95, of Acme, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, at Orchard Creek Assisted Living.
      Arrangements will be announced by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.
     
      DENVER - Mary Louise Brown, 84, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2004, in Denver.
      Mary was raised in Grosse Point, and spent many years in Bloomfield Hills, where she raised her family. Mary's life was marked by an independent spirit and a love of the beauty of Traverse City, where she lived, worked and enjoyed entertaining family and friends for more than 25 years.
      She is survived by her sons, William J. Brown and his wife, Ann, of Wilmington, Del. and Robert A. Brown of New Jersey; daughters, Judith Bloss and her husband, Greg, of Dallas and Patricia B. Clark and her husband, James, of Denver; and six grandchildren. Mary is also survived by her sister, Sally Randazzo and her husband, Michael.
      A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, at 11 a.m., at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 13400 Center Road, Old Mission Peninsula, in Traverse City.
      Donations can be made, in Mary's memory, to the Hospice of Metro Denver, 501 S. Cherry Street, Suite 700, Denver, CO 80246.
     
      TRAVERSE CITY - Wencil Joseph "Joe" Sedlacek, 76, of Traverse City, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, at his Long Lake Township residence.
      Joe was born Dec. 24, 1927, in Leland Township of Leelanau County, the son of Wencil Thomas and Emma Mary (Houdek) Sedlacek, and was raised in Leelanau county. During his early years, Joe worked on the family farm and attended Leelanau Public Schools.
      Joe was honorably discharged from the United States Army, as a sergeant, after serving in World War II and the Korean War. On May 24, 1950, Joe married Mazie Lorraine (Guthrie) at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Gills Pier.
      He worked as a salesman for Crandall Distributing Co., was a manager at Terrace Food Store, and also worked as an attendant nurse at Traverse City State Hospital. While employed at the hospital, Joe also worked as a bus driver for Traverse City Area Public Schools.
      For enjoyment, Joe loved spending time with his family and will always be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor. He also enjoyed camping, swimming and gardening, and was a very talented wood craftsman.
      A member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, the St. Patrick Men's Club, and the Knights of Columbus, Joe volunteered with Meals on Wheels.
      Joe is survived by Mazie, his wife of 54 years; his three children, Stephanie (William) Loomis, Susan Sedlacek and Stephen (Jan) Sedlacek, all of the Traverse City area. Joe leaves four grandchildren, Amy, Suzanne, Jessi and David; three great-grandchildren; his siblings, Anne B. (Edward) Kalchik, Charles W. (Vonda) Sedlacek and Anthony V. (Faye) Sedlacek; and many nieces and nephews.
      Joe was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Elizabeth Winowiecki.
      Visitation will take place at St. Patrick Catholic Church on Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, from 6 to 8 p.m., with the rosary being prayed at 7:30 p.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, at 11 a.m., also at the church, with visitation one hour prior to the Mass. Father Bill Lipscomb will celebrate the Mass. Graveside services will follow at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens, with military rites afforded by the honor guard of Cherryland VFW Post 2780.
      Memorials to St. Patrick Catholic Church or the Long Lake Fire Department would be appreciated.

      LELAND - John Kenneth "Van" Van Raalte, 96, of Leland, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, at the Leelanau Memorial Health Center. Van, son of John and Nora Samantha (Keeler) Van Raalte, was born May 4, 1908, in Holland, Mich. On May 3, 1933, Van married Luella Marie Nelson.
      Van attended automobile mechanic school in Cleveland in 1929, moved to Leland in 1930, and established Van's Garage in 1933. Van's is now in its third generation of family ownership.
      During World War II, Van enlisted in the Navy Seabees, serving as chief petty officer, motor machinist mate, 129th Battalion. His tour of duty, from July 1943 until Nov. 1945, took him to Honolulu, where his battalion was part of the rebuilding of Pearl Harbor. He was on Samar Island in the Philippines when the war ended.
      Van was a founding member of the Leland Volunteer Fire Department and served as fire chief for many years, building some of the early equipment for the fire department in Van's Garage.
      He was active in parish activities at St. Mary's in Lake Leelanau and in Leland civic affairs. Van and Luella opened their home to dozens of art students and an exchange student from Mexico. After retirement, they spent many winters in Cuidad De Valles, Mexico, where they financially assisted children in attending a local school.
      Van will be remembered for his unfailing work ethic, his strength of character, his sense of humor, his legendary ability to diagnose and fix any mechanical problem, his love of boating and his willingness to provide assistance to his neighbors, friends and customers.
      He is survived by one brother, Floyd Van Raalte of Douglas; one son, John D. (Jan) Van Raalte of Leland; four daughters, Sara Ebenreck Leeland of Lusby, Md., Virginia (John) Logan of Rockford, E. Karen (Gerald) Clark of Ann Arbor and Roselyn (Michael) Flannigan of Houston; 10 grandchildren, Christine Johnson, John P. Van Raalte, Donna Hardwick, Jered Ebenreck, Patrick Malloy, Cynthia Rosales, Nancy Fletcher, Marie Logan, Jason Logan and Kevin Clark; and six great-grandchildren, Jennifer and Sarah Hardwick, John H. Van Raalte, Justine and Melissa Fletcher and Amelia Logan.
      Preceding him in death were his wife, Luella in 1998; daughter and son-in-law, Nora and Thomas Malloy; two brothers, Albert and Samuel Van Raalte; and sister, Dora Schurman.
      Friends may call Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, from 1 p.m. until the Catholic memorial service at 2:30 p.m., at the Martinson Funeral Home in Suttons Bay, Burial will take place at the Swedish Mission Cemetery in Good Harbor immediately after the memorial service.
      Memorial contributions may be made to the Leland Volunteer Fire Department.
      Arrangements are by the Martinson Funeral Home in Suttons Bay.
