Visitation will be Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., at the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee, where a rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. and evening prayers from the Order of Christian Funerals to be prayed at 8 p.m. A Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, at 10 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee. Burial will follow the Mass in the Mount Carmel Cemetery in Manistee. Arrangements are by the Herbert Funeral Home. DORA M. KALEY, 79, of Traverse City, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, at Munson Medical Center. Arrangements are pending at the Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City. HELEN CATHERINE MAKINEN, 87, of Manistee, died Friday, Nov. 12, 2004, at her residence. Visitation will be Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., at the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee, where prayers from the Order of Christian Funerals will be prayed at 8 p.m. A Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, at 10 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee. Burial will immediately follow the service in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Manistee. Arrangements are by the Herbert Funeral Home. INEZ MAE McARTHUR, of Frankfort, died Friday, Nov. 12, 2004, at the Maples. Arrangements are pending and a complete obituary will be in a future edition of the Record-Eagle. The Benzonia Chapel of McElduff Funeral Home and Cremation Service is handing the arrangements. JACQUELINE A. POHLMAN, 68, of Traverse City, died Saturday morning, Nov. 13, 2004, at Munson Medical Center. Arrangements are pending at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. KATHLEEN M. RYAN, 81, of Central Lake, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, at home. The family will receive friends Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes, where a wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, at 10 a.m., at St. Luke Catholic Church in Bellaire. The Mortensen Funeral Home of Central Lake is in charge of arrangements. EVELYN IRENE WINRIGHT, 86, of Kalkaska, died Friday, Nov. 12, 2004, at her home. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, at 1 p.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service, at the Grass Lake Oakwood Cemetery in Jackson. Arrangements are by the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. TRAVERSE CITY - Robert L. Cram, 86, of Traverse City, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, from injuries sustained in an auto accident. Formerly of Flint, Port Huron and Waterford, he had been a resident of Traverse City since 1962. After graduating from high school in 1936, Robert sailed the Great Lakes aboard the Isaac L. Ellwood for one season before beginning a 42-year career with Michigan Bell. He began as a lineman, during which time he met his wife, Evon Kress, in Port Huron. He retired from Michigan Bell in January of 1979, holding the position of estimate assignor and proceeded to enjoy 25 years of retirement at his home on East Grand Traverse Bay. He loved to look out onto the water from the beautiful shoreline of his property. Robert is fondly remembered by his grandchildren for telling them, "They could go anywhere in the world from here." He enjoyed spending his retirement doing such things as woodworking, and over the years made snow shoes and boats, in addition to re-covering furniture and making rock jewelry. He was also known for his home-made chocolate candies at Christmas time, as well as making jerky and maple syrup, and especially for his home made sourdough bread made from scratch. In past years, he enjoyed square dancing, calling square dances, sailing and motorcycling. He continued to enjoy playing pool and cribbage with family and friends. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, attended, with Evon, the Living Hope Assembly of God Church, and greatly enjoyed family get-togethers. Robert was born, in Flint, Jan. 15, 1918, the son of Verl O. and Florence E.C. (Hanshew) Cram. On Oct. 13, 1940, in Port Huron, he married his wife, Evon Kress. Robert is survived by his wife, Evon; son, Leland R. (Kathleen) Cram of Traverse City; daughter, Linda K. Spiers of Traverse City; brother, David Cram of California; sister-in-law, Norma Cram of Port Huron; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Verl and Florence; and his brother, Vern. Private family services are being planned. Memorials may be directed to the Living Hope Assembly of God Church, 3050 S. Airport Rd. W., Traverse City, MI 49684. Arrangements are being handled by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Johnson, 79, of Traverse City, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004, at Munson Medical Center. Mr. Johnson was born March 9, 1925, in Shelby, the son of Guy and Margurite Johnson. Bob moved to Traverse City in 1939, where he met and married the former Joann Minch, who survives. Bob worked as an electrician, was a charter member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #498 and a life member of the VFW Post #2780. In his spare time, Bob loved to golf and fish. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Marsha Groh of Traverse City; brother, Charles Johnson of Alden; and his grandson, Taylor Groh. Per his request, cremation has taken place and private family services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to the VFW Post #2780, 3400 Veterans Drive, Traverse City, MI 49684. The family is being served by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. TRAVERSE CITY - Craig C. Lindsey, 46, of Traverse City, passed away Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004, at his home. Craig was born, in Royal Oak, on Feb. 8, 1958, to Norman and Beatrice (Moran) Lindsey. He married Wanda J. Zenner on Aug. 25, 1979. He moved from Clawson to Traverse City in 1970, and has resided here ever since. Previously employed at Elk Rapids Engineering, Craig worked for the United States Post Office for the last two years. He loved snowmobiling wood working and building. He helped in the construction of two of his homes. He is survived by his wife; mother; children, Jerad Christopher, Andrea Cathrine and Ethan Aaron; brother, Curtis Lindsey; sister, Gwen Rossman; and two nephews, Frank Rossman and Brandon Lindsey. Craig was preceded in death by his father. A visitation will be held Monday Nov. 15, 2004, from 4 to 6 p.m., at the Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City. No funeral services are planned. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City. ELK RAPIDS - Dolores "Doe" Mueller, 69, a retired dental hygienist, of Elk Rapids, died Friday, Nov. 12, 2004, at Munson Hospice House. Born May 5, 1935, in Fargo N.D., she was the daughter of the late Kingsley and Beatrice (Carney) Lier. On Feb. 12, 1984, in Tucson, Ariz., she married George Mueller, who survives. Doe had a fine appreciation for antiques and was a long-time member of the Antique Club of Traverse City. She enjoyed the diversity of attending Sunday services at various churches throughout the area. In addition to her husband, George, she is also survived by three children, Rebecca Olson of Tucson, Ariz., Graham (Fiona) Larson of St. Albert, Alberta, Canada and Erika (Joe) Gartrell of Virginia Beach, Va.; four grandchildren; sister, Bonnie (Frank) Damon of St. Paul, Minn.; and brother, Peter (Julia) Lier of Gladwin. Visitation will be today, Nov. 14, 2004, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 15, 2004, at 1 p.m., also at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tom Mansfield officiating. Burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery in Traverse City. In remembrance of Doe, memorials may be directed to U.S.M.C. Toys for Tots, c/o PO Box 20, Lake Ann, MI 49650. Kind words from her loving husband, George, "Good-bye to my wife, Doe, a woman who could enjoy what God gave us for nothing. Truly an artist, a wonderful person."
