The Rev. Floyd Soper will officiate. Interment will follow in the Cleon Township Cemetery. The Terwilliger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. JOHN MILLER, 73, of Manistee, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, at West Shore Medical Center in Manistee. Visitation will be today, Nov. 19, 2004, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee, with prayers from the Order of Christian Funerals to be prayed at 8 p.m. A Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at 10 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee. Burial will follow in the Mount Carmel Cemetery in Manistee. Arrangements are by the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee. ROBERT N. SAUNDERS, 93, of Mattoon, Ill., formerly of Bear Lake, died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, at the Illinois Veterans Home in Anna, Ill. A graveside service will be held Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at 1 p.m., at the Fairview Cemetery in Bear Lake. Arrangements are by the Edwards Oak grove Funeral Home in Bear Lake. DONALD ELMER WRIGHT, 78, of Traverse City, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, at Tendercare of Traverse City. Arrangements are pending and will be announced by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. LAKE LEELANAU - Donald Defoe Edgerle, 76, of Lake Leelanau, died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, at Munson Medical Center. Don was born, in Grand Rapids, on June 9, 1928, the son of Defoe and Lucille (Keech) Edgerle. He grew up in the Grand Rapids area and earned his degree in industrial engineering from Michigan State University. He married Joyce Leatherman in May of 1951, in Grand Rapids, and later married Joyce Lardie. Don had lived the last 15 years in Lake Leelanau, but had previously resided in Burlington, Wis., Chicago, and Kalamazoo. He was a member of the Congregational Church of Burlington. At the time of his retirement, he was the plant manager for Packaging Corporation in Burlington, Wis. He started at ground level, at age 15, and worked his way up to the position of plant manager. He was instrumental in selecting the location for the Burlington plant. He was a member of the American Legion. Don loved to fish and enjoyed working at the Boardman River fish weir. He also loved to write and receive letters. His greatest enjoyment in life was being outdoors, hunting and fishing, especially spending time at Rice Lake in Canada fishing for blue gills. Don was passionate about the conservation of Lake Leelanau. He also enjoyed wintering in Orange Beach, Ala. He was passionate about Alcoholics Anonymous, and enjoyed facilitating the meetings. He was most proud of his years of sobriety. He loved to volunteer at the prison. Don was a great sports enthusiast, and was particularly fond of the Detroit Red Wings. He is survived by his children, Deb and Paul Shimondle of Roscoe, Ill., Sandy and Joe Danielson of Green Bay, Wis., Gregg and Candi Edgerle of Franksville, Wis., Dawn and Craig Soeth of Burlington, Wis. and Brett and Deb Edgerle of Kohler, Wis.; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a brother, Dale and Cindy Edgerle of Grand Haven. Don was preceded in death by his parents; and by his wife, Joyce, six weeks ago. Memorial services will be held Saturday Nov. 20, 2004, at 2 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. First Street, Leland, MI 49654 TRAVERSE CITY - Elda Ione Brown, 91, of Traverse City, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004. She was born Jan. 2, 1913, to William R. and Ada (Armstead) White. Elda was a very caring and loving person who will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her children, Carollee Pickard and Dwight (Faye) Brown, both of Traverse City, and Deanna (Charles) VanOstran of Climax; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, Elda was preceded in death by three sisters, two brothers, two grandchildren, one great-grandchild and one great-great-grandchild. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at 11 a.m., at the Faith Reformed Church in Traverse City, with the Rev. Jack Steenbergh officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Father Fred Foundation or the American Heart Association. TRAVERSE CITY - Carol Ann Bender, 82, of Traverse City, died early Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, at her home. Born Dec. 7, 1921, in Richmond, Ind., she was the daughter of Everett Ray and Catherine (Lynch) Eggleston. On Dec. 29, 1945, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joseph, she married Farrell O. Bender, who survives. Carol was a graduate of St. Joseph Catholic High School, where she was an honor student and cheerleader. She was also a den mother for 10 years. Carol was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Traverse City. Along with her husband, Farrell, she is survived by two sons, James Farrell Bender and his children, Erin, Addison and Ryan, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. and Robert Alan Bender and his children, Christina and Timothy, of Austin, Texas; daughter, Jane Veronica (Derrick) Eads and their daughter, Ryann, of Sugar Hill, Ga.; three sisters, Catherine A. Eggleston O.P., Jane (Larry) Murphy and Veronica Neumann; and brother, Mark (Marge) Eggleston. Carol was preceded in death by her son, Thomas; parents; three brothers, John, Ray and Richard; and a sister, Marguerite. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, Nov. 22, 2004, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Fr. James Hayden will celebrate the Mass. Graveside services will follow, at 3:30 p.m., at Spring Run Cemetery in Scottdale near St. Joseph. At Carol's request, cremation has taken place. Memorials may be directed to Grand Traverse Area Catholic Schools or Lake Michigan Catholic Schools in St. Joseph. The family is being served by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. MAPLE CITY - Dexter W. "Deck" Seeburger, 94, of Maple City, died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, at his home. He was born Dec. 25, 1909, in Midland, the son of Frederick W. and Margaret (Rose) Seeburger. On Dec. 25, 1930, in Toledo, Ohio, he married the former Mary Elizabeth Deisher, who preceded him in death in 1988. Dexter worked in the lead shop at the Dow Chemical Company in Midland for 17 years. He also owned and operated Seeburger Sales and Service in Glen Lake. Dexter was a member of the Odd Fellows, and a life member of the Traverse City Elks and the Empire Masonic Lodge. He was the Glen Arbor Township Clerk for many years and president of the Citizens Council. He was also a founding member of the Glen Arbor Fire Department. Being mechanically inclined, he could fix anything. He loved to fish and hunt. He is survived by his two sons, William Seeburger of Stevensville and James Seeburger of Maple City; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Garcia, Jamie (Harry) Gemuend, Fredrik Seeburger, William Seeburger and John (Heather) Seeburger; and four great-grandchildren, Isabell, Dexter, Jayce and Matthew. Dexter was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Elizabeth Seeburger; three brothers; and two sisters. Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., from the Covell Funeral Homes of Traverse City, where the Empire Masonic Lodge will have services at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at 1 p.m., with additional visitation one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Louis Grettenburger will officiate. Burial will take place in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. Memorial may be directed to the Glen Arbor Volunteer Fire Department of to a charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes. FRANKFORT - Inez Mae Hutchinson was born in Milbrook of Isabella County, on March 5, 1910, to Clarkson Blaine and Florence Mae Elizabeth (McGregor) Hutchinson. She married Vaughn Dean McArthur, in Blanchard, on April 28, 1929. They went immediately to Pontiac, where Vaughn had a job at the GM Pontiac Plant. Shortly after they were married, the Great Depression hit. During the seventeen years they lived in Pontiac, four of their five children were born. Vaughn had various second jobs and they tried many things to make extra money, such as having a truck garden. In 1946, they bought The American Resort on Little Platte Lake. The down payment came from Inez working in a factory during World War II. For twenty-two years, they invested their money, time and energy into this resort. When they wanted to retire in 1968, they sold the resort. The resort was opened and closed for several more years. In the mean time, Vaughn and Inez bought a place in Florida, and spent six months or more there each year. They moved back to Michigan in 1987. Inez was a hard worker and anything she did, she gave it her best. As a young girl she learned to sew, and it was something that gave her pleasure all of her life. After losing Vaughn in 1988, she lived by herself until 2000. She spent her last three years the Maples, where she was well cared for. She is survived by her children, Dorla Link of Honor, Gary (Diana) McArthur of Watertown, Wis. and Terry (Kathy) McArthur of Benzonia; daughter-in-law, Gretchen McArthur; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Inez was preceded in death by her husband, Vaughn; children, Dale McArthur and Betty Fikes; grandsons, Kevin Link and Dale Vaughn McArthur; a great-grandson, Alexander Wilson; and son-in-law, Joseph Link. A memorial service will be held Monday, Nov. 22, 2004, at 11 a.m., at the Benzonia Chapel of McElduff Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tom Maher officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Maples Guild. The Benzonia Chapel of McElduff Funeral Home & Cremation Service is handing the arrangements. TRAVERSE CITY - A memorial service for Stephen P. Siddall will be held on Saturday, Nov. 27, at 3 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Cadillac. Stephen passed away on Oct. 11, 2004, at Boardman Lake Glens in Traverse City. He was born to Paul W. Siddall and Ethel Brady Siddall on Jan. 13, 1922, in Manton. He graduated from Manton High School and went to Western Michigan University and Central Michigan University, where he earned his bachelor degree in education. In addition, he earned a master's degree from the University of Michigan in administration. Stephen served in the United States Army during World War II. He fought in the Pacific Theater with the infantry division, where he earned three Purple Hearts, two oak leaf clusters and four bronze battle stars. After returning home, Stephen married Naomi Falan of Cadillac. Stephen and Naomi eventually settled in Baldwin, where they both taught school. Stephen returned to Manton and continued to teach in the Cadillac Public Schools. He was principal of the Cadillac Junior High for 13 years. Steve served in the Michigan National Guard and retired as a captain. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Cadillac. Steve had a talent for growing fruits and vegetables. During the winter he would gather sap and make maple syrup. He enjoyed sharing the harvest with friends and family. Stephen was preceded in death by his parents; Naomi, his wife of 57 years; his brother, Richard; and a sister, Marion. He is survived by four children, Daniel of Cheboygan, Martha O'Hara of Kalamazoo, Mary Esther (Edward) Jacobs of Beaver Dam, Wis., and Sam (Lisa Hawley) of Empire. Stephen has 10 grandchildren, Erin Leach, Daniel, Travis, Maryea Siddall, Martha, Marie, Henry Jacobs, Stephen, Robert and Mahrle Siddall; and one great-grandchild, Noelle Watson. Stephen is also survived by two sisters, Mildred Willard of Las Vegas and Shirley Kellogg of Warren; and 11 nieces and nephews.
