Funeral arrangements are pending and are being handled by the Benzonia Chapel of McElduff Funeral Home and Cremation Service. ALICE M. IVERSON, 92, of Manistee, died Friday, Oct. 15, 2004. Funeral services will be Monday, Oct. 18, 2004, at 2 p.m., at the Norwalk Lutheran Church near Bear Lake, with visitation two hours prior to the service. Arrangements are by the Johnson Funeral Home, P.C. in Manistee. LINDA L. KUBISKEY, 64, of Manistee, died Friday, Oct. 15, 2004. Visitation will be Monday, Oct. 18, 2004, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Johnson Funeral Home in Manistee. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004, at 11 a.m., at the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Manistee. Arrangements are by the Johnson Funeral Home, P.C. in Manistee. ELK RAPIDS - Dorothy Jean Burow Twining, 75, of Elk Rapids, died Monday Aug. 23, 2004, at Munson Medical Center. According to mom's wishes, cremation has taken place and a service in October, her favorite month, will be held Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, at 11:00 a.m., at the Gazebo in Elk Rapids Harbor. In remembrance of Dorothy, memorial contributions may be directed to your local nature conservancy or humane society. Arrangements are by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. TRAVERSE CITY - Gary Martin Flees, 52, of Traverse City and formerly of Maple City, passed away Friday, Oct. 15, 2004, at Munson Hospice House. Gary was born Jan. 16, 1952, in Traverse City, the son of Martin and Alice Flees, who have preceded him in death. He married Karen Denise Walters on May 17, 1979. He graduated from Glen Lake High School in 1970 and served with the United States Navy as an aviation structural mechanic during the Vietnam War. He attended Northwestern Michigan College and he received his degree in auto mechanics. Gary was a store manager of Good Times Pizza while he resided in Chapel Hill, N.C. He had also been employed by Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Cedar and SSC Service Solutions at the Grand Traverse Mall. When he returned to the country he loved best, Leelanau County, he enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, camping, his golden retriever, Hunny, and most of all, spending time with his family. Gary was a previous member of St. Rita St. Joseph Catholic Church, where, in his youth, he served as an alter boy. Gary will be best remembered for his sense of humor, compassion for all, his giving spirit and his hugs that you never wanted to end. Surviving are his two beloved daughters, Tanya L. Flees of Grand Rapids and Tara L. Flees of Maple City; future son-in-law, Christopher Walker of Midland; one sister, Arlene Ogden of Saginaw; and many aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held today, Oct. 17, 2004, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, with a rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will take place at St. Rita's St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Maple City on Monday, Oct. 18, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place at St. Rita's Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider St. Rita's St. Joseph's Catholic Church or Munson Hospice House. CENTRAL LAKE - Evelyn L. Moffat, 70, of Central Lake, died Friday, Oct. 15, 2004, at Munson Medical Center. She was born July 18, 1934, in Central Lake, the daughter of Orson Sr. and Eva (McDowell) Barber. For many years she worked for Gulf and Western of East Jordan. She also, for many years, owned and operated Moffat Adult Foster Care Homes in Central Lake and Eastport, providing a loving service to all her residents. Evelyn was a long-time member of the Torch Post VFW #6985 Auxiliary. Surviving are seven children, Lorna (Nelson) Brookins of Central Lake, Joan (Bryan) Perrine of Charlevoix, Susan (Michael) Losee of Central Lake, Charles (Jeannette) Moffat of Central Lake, Ronald (Dawn) Moffat of Central Lake, Aaron (Robbin) Moffat of Charlevoix and Crystal (Greg) Veryken of Williamsburg; one brother, Orson Jr. (Beverly) Barber of Flint; three sisters, Darlene Youmans of Central Lake, Fay McGillis of Georgia and Diane (Clifford) Boatwright of Central Lake, 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. On Aug. 15, 1953, in Central Lake, she married Stanley Moffat, who died Aug. 26, 2003. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one sister, Janet Wolverton; and four brothers, Elmer, Harold, Jimmy Joe and Gerald Barber. The family will receive friends on Monday, Oct. 18, 2004, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004, at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home, with the Rev. Richard Moore officiating. Interment will be in the Southern Cemetery in Central Lake Township. Memorial contributions may be made to the Traverse Bay Regional Dialysis Center, 4062 W. Royal Dr., Traverse City, MI 49684. GRAND RAPIDS - Elsie E. Munro died in Grand Rapids on Friday, Sept. 10, 2004. Elsie was born in Hibbing, Minn. and spent most of her adult life in Traverse City, where she had a career as the office manager of the National Music Camp and the Interlochen Center for the Arts. She lived, for many of her retirement years, in Clearwater, Fla. She is survived by a son, Dr. Dugald H. Munro Jr. and his wife, Sharon, of Providence, R.I.; daughter, Margaret M. (Peg) Baldridge and son-in-law, Dr. Richard L. Baldridge, of Rockford; grandchildren, James Munro and his wife, Sara, of Denver, Colo., Neil Munro of San Francisco and Dr. Robert M. Baldridge and his wife, Cindy, of Rockford. Her great-grandchildren are Colin, Emily and Lucy Munro of Denver, Colo. and Trisha, Melissa and Lily Baldridge of Rockford. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Winifred Wilkinson of Clearwater, Fla. and Mrs. Dorothy Terrell of Seminole, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Dugald H. Munro Sr., who was a teacher in the Traverse City High School; and by a granddaughter, Mary M. Baldridge. The service for Elsie will be held on Friday, Oct. 22, 2004, at 11 a.m., at the First Presbyterian Church in Elk Rapids, with Dr. Daniel Herlein officiating. Interment will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery in Elk Rapids. The family wishes to thank the kind and caring staff of Heather Hills Care Center for the loving care they gave Elsie for six years. We are grateful. The Pederson Funeral Home in Rockford is in charge of arrangements.
