      RONNIE CLIFFORD PARROTT, 58, of South Boardman, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004, in Deckerville.
      Visitation will be Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004, from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m., at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Funeral services will be on Monday, Oct. 25, 2004, at 10 a.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lodi Cemetery.
      A full obituary will be in Sunday's edition of the Record-Eagle.
      The Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska is in charge of arrangements.
     
      The funeral Mass for MARTIN EDWARD PAWLAK, who died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004, will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 25, 2004, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Isadore. Visitation will take place today, Oct. 23, 2004, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City, and again on Sunday, Oct. 24, from 6 until 8 p.m., at the church, with a rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m.
     
     
      BENZONIA - Edward B. Catton, 69, resident of Benzonia, died suddenly on Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004, while on holiday in York, England. A longtime voice for Interlochen Public Radio WIAA, he was best known for his "Readings" and his Saturday morning program, "Music by Request." He retired in 1997, but continued to pursue his lifelong passions for the fine arts, reading, and travel.
      Edward graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in drama, additionally having played in summer stock on Cape Cod. After his return to Michigan, he accepted a position with the newly-established radio station at Interlochen. He was active in local drama and music productions, appearing on-stage at the Olde Town Playhouse, Ramsdell Theater and with the Benzie County Players. He was baritone soloist throughout the state in such works as Mendelssohn's "Elijah" and Faure's "Requiem." He also sang most recently with Interlochen's Festival Choirs, the Willcocks Choral Festivals, and the Traverse City combined choirs.
      He was active in the life of Benzonia, serving as a founding member of Citizens for Positive Planning and as a board member of the Mills Community House Renovation Committee. He was a devoted member of the United Church of Christ of Benzonia and directed its Chancel Choir for many years.
      Survivors include his brother, William (Nancy) Catton, PhD. of Lakeview, Wash.; sister, Ruth Willard Catton, MD, with whom he shared the family home in Benzonia. Also surviving are his nephews, Stephen (Cindy) Catton of Arcata, Calif., Philip (Judith) Catton of Christchurch, New Zealand, Theodore "Ted" Catton of Missoula, Mont. and Jonathan Catton of Bozeman, Mont.; four grandnephews; two grandnieces; and many cousins. Additionally, he leaves his partner, Nancy Keith; his goddaughter, Marian Schubert; and a large host of friends.
      Edward Bruce Catton was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. William Robert and Helen (Willard) Catton; and a brother, John.
      Memorial services for Edward Catton are scheduled at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, at the Benzonia First Congregational Church UCC. The Rev. Stephen Davidson will officiate. The committal of the ashes will be in the family plot at the Benzonia Cemetery at 11 a.m.
      Donations, in Edward Catton's memory, may be made to the First Congregational Church UCC in Benzonia, the Mills Community House Renovation Project or Benzie Community Services Home Health Care and sent to PO Box 421, Benzonia, MI 49616.
     
     
      TRAVERSE CITY - Theodora Mary "Dora" Fromholz Whaley, 85, of Traverse City, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004, at the Grand Traverse Pavilions.
      Born Oct. 19, 1919, in East Leland, Dora was the daughter of Mary (Plamondon) and Paul Alpers. She married Harold Ferdinand Fromholz on Nov. 11, 1941, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Traverse City, a marriage that endured a wonderful 54 years until Harold's death on Feb. 20, 1996. Dora married Monroe W. Whaley on Aug. 18, 1998, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 19, 2001.
      Dora was a homemaker and mother and, in her early years, owned and operated a beauty shop. Then, for over 30 years, she sold World Book Encyclopedias door to door in the northern Michigan area.
      A very active member of the community, Dora was a member of St. Francis Catholic Parish, where she served as a member and former president of the Altar Society and also served on the building committee. She was the first president of the Cherry Knoll PTA, served as a Grand Traverse County Commissioner, was the local liaison for Congressman Donald Albosta and held membership in the Elks and the Daisy Chain.
      She loved to play golf, but her most treasured and loved times were those spent with her family.
      Dora is survived by her children, Sandra (Roger) Lindley of Suttons Bay, H. William (Charlotte) Fromholz of Owosso, Michael Fromholz of Houston, Texas, James (Nancy) Fromholz of Santa Barbara, Calif., David (Barbara) Fromholz of Wilmington, N.C. and Jeffery (Debra) Fromholz of Traverse City; 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Paul (Wilma) Alpers of Traverse City and Leonard Alpers of Seattle, Wash.; and a sister-in-law, Faye Alpers of Findlay, Ohio.
      In addition to her husbands, Dora was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Elizabeth, on June 12, 1972; brothers, Robert and Kenneth Alpers; and her sisters-in-law, Irma and Mary Alpers.
      Visitation will take place on Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, with an evening prayer service at 7:30 p.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 25, 2004, at St. Francis Catholic Church, with the Rev. Fr. Gerald Micketti serving as celebrant.
      The family suggests, that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in Dora's name, be directed to St. Francis High School or to Traverse City Christian Junior/Senior High School.
     
     
      TRAVERSE CITY - Barbara Jean Loveland passed away on Oct. 20, 2004, surrounded by her family. She was born, in Winn, to Theodore and Maxine (Nisonger) Newcomb. Upon the death of her father in 1946, the family moved to the Elk Rapids area. In 1971 she moved to Traverse City, where she resided until her passing.
      Barbara graduated from Elk Rapids High School in 1953. In 1952 she won the Mardi Gras Queen contest and also the Miss Elk Rapids contest. Later that year she went on to win a position on the National Cherry Festival Queen's Court.
      While a resident of Elk Rapids, she was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, president of the Alter Society, chairman of the local Girl Scout drive, chairman of the blood bank and a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club.
      In 1997 she retired from the Traverse City Area Public Schools. Barbara loved fishing on Elk Lake, cooking, sports, her pet poodles, and her pride and joy, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
      She is survived by her daughter, Cyndy (Cole) and husband, Don Edwards; grandchildren, Casey Fisher and fiancé, Marshall Mossman; grandson, Brad Fisher and great-grandson Brendan Fisher, all of Traverse City; son, Michael and wife, Cami Cole and grandson, Jack Cole of Lake Stevens, Wash. She is also survived by her stepson, Terry Loveland; stepson, Scott Loveland his wife, Denise and their children, Garrett and Madison Loveland; stepdaughter, Kelly Loveland and her children, Charleigh and Jon Culp; friend and stepdaughter, Terri Jo Pontiaoski and her children, Cody and Chris Loveland, all of Traverse City; dear sister, Ivaline (Newcomb) Roenicke of Saginaw; mother-in-law, Marion Loveland; brothers and sisters-in-law; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.
      On August 14, 1971, at the First Christian Church in Traverse City, she married Robert L. Loveland, who preceded her in death in 1998. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
      Cremation has taken place with burial in Oakwood Cemetery in Traverse City. Per her request, a private family memorial service is planned .
      In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society, Cherryland Humane Society or the Father Fred Foundation.
      Arrangements are by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.
     
     
      PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - Adelyne "Addie" Mitchell, 82, of Port Charlotte, Fla., formerly of Dearborn, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004, at the home of her daughter in Harrisville.
      Addie was born Aug. 4, 1922, in Detroit, to Robert and Martha (Celesky) Pilkington and spent most of her life in the Detroit area. She graduated from Fordson High School in 1940.
      On Sept. 11, 1943, she married John Mitchell in Dearborn. After retiring in 1979, they moved from Dearborn to Port Charlotte, Fla. She loved doing crafts and the time she spent in her garden.
      Mrs. Mitchell is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, John; two daughters, Robin (Tom) O'Connell of Dearborn and Heather (Skip) Trumph of Harrisville; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer, Shayne, Brandy, Rachel, Tawny, Alison, Philip, Jami, Kevin and Jesse; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Geraldine McGregor of Traverse City; son-in-law, Milt Bulmann; and a number of nieces and nephews.
      She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Bulmann; son, Robert Mitchell; and a grandson, Mitchell Bulmann.
      Adelyne Mitchell has been taken from Wachterhauser Funeral Home for cremation. No services are planned at this time.
      Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Michigan or the Alcona Humane Society.
     
     
      BLOOMFIELD HILLS - Henry Dawkins, of Bloomfield Hills, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at the age of 100.
      Henry was born June 13, 1904, in the Mesick area, where he grew up and graduated from Mesick High School.
      He is survived by four children, Dale, Pete, Sue and Mike Dawkins; and several grandchildren.
      A memorial service was held at St. Johns Episcopal Church in Royal Oak on Oct. 11, 2004.
