Ann A. Boothroyd
Died October 23, 2004
TRAVERSE CITY -- Ann Alwynn Boothroyd, 88, of Traverse
City, passed away peacefully, Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, at her home.
Born May 11, 1916, in Johnstown, Pa., Ann was the
daughter of Sarah (Jenkins) and Francis David. She married Joseph Boothroyd
on Nov. 18, 1939, in Detroit.
A resident of the Traverse City area since 1955,
Ann and her husband moved here from Detroit. She was a very active member
of Central United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Yoke
Fellow group, and organized dinners for the Senior fellowship and volunteered
her time working on the church newsletter. She was also involved in F.I.S.H.
Ann focused her energies on creating a warm home
environment for her family. She thoroughly enjoyed raising her family
and treasured the times spent together.
Ann is survived by her husband, Joseph; her sons,
Gregory W. (Lori) Boothroyd, Ph.D., of Delton, Phillip D. (Helene) Boothroyd
of Kalamazoo, Perry (Patricia) Boothroyd of Cedar, Mark Boothroyd and
Peter (Tanya) Boothroyd, all of Traverse City; her grandchildren, Jason,
Scott, Jeff, Sonya, Jesse, Nathan and Myles; and her great-grandchildren,
Max, Ross, Guinevere, Sonna and Leighton. Ann is also survived by her
brother, William David of Pennsylvania.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter
in infancy; and by her daughter-in-law, Dorothy Boothroyd.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday,
Oct. 29, at Central United Methodist Church, with The Rev. Tamara Williams
officiating.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Central
United Methodist Church or to Munson Hospice House.
The family is being served by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff
Funeral Home.
Donald Dewey Lance
Died October 24, 2004
KALKASKA -- Donald Dewey Lance, 66, of Kalkaska,
passed away on Oct. 24, 2004, at his home.
Born on April 25, 1938, in Buckley, he was the son
of Dewey and Lillian (Storck) Lance. He lived in Kalkaska since 1965,
moving from Buckley.
Donald was a veteran serving our country in the U.S.
Army. He was the manager of Flowing Well Trout & Game Farm of Kalkaska
for 40 years.
Donald was a member of the American Legion in Fife
Lake, Ducks Unlimited and Whitetails Unlimited. Don was an avid hunter
and enjoyed the great outdoors.
Surviving Don are his children, Andrea K. (Paul)
McLean-Hill of Kalkaska, Donald D. (Jody) Lance II of South Boardman and
Phillip B. Lance of Mancelona; his grandchildren, Lindsay McLean, Zachary
Hill, Joshua Hill and Spencer Lance; his dear friend, Norma L. Lance of
Kalkaska; his sisters, Alberta (Don) Lynch of Traverse City, Leota (Stanley)
Kiszlowski of Redford, Mary Frances Brown of Grand Rapids and Josie Cogan
of Grandville.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents and siblings,
Albert Lance, Fred Lance, Dolores Jewell, Jennie Hansen and Patricia Lance.
Visitation will be held this evening, Oct. 26, from
1 until 4 p.m. and 6 until 8 p.m. at Wolfe Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday,
Oct. 27, at Kalkaska Church of Christ. Inurnment will be in Cornell’s
Cemetery in Buckley.

Hospice, 1105 Sixth St., Traverse City, MI 49684; or to the American Cancer

Frederick J. Chapin, M.D.
Died October 19, 2004
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Frederick J. Chapin, M.D., of
Cookeville, Tenn., passed away in Dear-born on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004,
of natural causes at the age of 88.
Dr. Chapin was born in Detroit on Jan. 19, 1916,
the son of Fred J. and Maude Chapin. His beloved wife of 65 years, Margaret,
preceded him in death in February of this year.
Dr. Chapin was a graduate of Royal Oak High School
and the University of Michigan School of Medicine class of 1942. After
leaving Ann Arbor, he practiced pediatric medicine in Bay City from 1945
to 1968, residing on Center Avenue and Killarney Beach Rd.
Actively involved in the creation and construction
of Delta College, Dr. Chapin was an elected member of the Delta Board,
representing Bay City. He later became a strong voice in advocating the
need for a four-year college in the Tri-Cities area and was one of the
founders of Saginaw Valley State University.
Dr. Chapin moved to Traverse City in 1968 for training
as a psychiatrist at the Traverse City State Hospital. He left Michigan
in 1976, moving to Tennessee to practice psychiatry, retiring in 1993.
Dr. Chapin is survived by his sister, Laura (Reg)
Hendricks of Homer, Ark.; daughter, Mary (Jack) Gergel of Belleville;
sons, Fred (Marcy) Chapin of Brooklyn Heights, N.Y., and Jim (Noreen)
Chapin of Troy; and six grandchildren.
His brother, Bob, preceded him in death.
Funeral services took place Saturday, Oct. 23, at
the Crest Lawn Funeral Home in Cookeville, Tenn.
Donations may be made to the University of Michigan
Medical School or to a favorite charity.
MARGIE PETRO, 46, of Gaylord, formerly of Bellaire, died Sunday,
Oct. 24, 2004.
Visitation will take place today, Oct. 26, from 2
to 7 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home in Gaylord.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday,
Oct. 27, at the funeral home, with visitation from noon until the time
of the service. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Bellaire.
Arrangements are being handled by Nelson Funeral
Home, Gaylord.
MARY E. REUTER, 95,
of Traverse City, formerly of Lexington, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004,
at Munson Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held at the Apsey Funeral
Home in Deckerville at a later date. Burial was in the Downing Cemetery
in Deckerville.
BARBARA ‘BOBBIE’ SHAMBAUGH
ROSI, 93, of Traverse City, formerly of Old Mission, died Mon-day
morning, Oct. 25, 2004, at the Southridge Adult Foster Care Home in Traverse
City.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30,
in the Old Mission Congregational Church, where friends may begin calling
at 1 p.m.

Arrangements are being handled by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff
Funeral Home in Traverse City.
ROSE MARIE (MOCKERMAN)
SCOTT, 66, of Central Lake, formerly of Grandville, died Monday, Oct.
25, 2004, at her home.
Visitation will take place today, Oct. 26, from 2
to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral
Homes.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday,
Oct. 27, at Grace Community Church in Central Lake. Graveside services
will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, at Blaine Cemetery in Gaines
Town-ship.
VERLON LANCE WINDBIGLER
died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, at the Bortz Health Care Center.
Visitation will take place Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004,
from 3 p.m. until time of service at 4 p.m. at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral
Home, with the Rev. Keith Huffman officiating.
THOMAS HENRY WISNIEWSKI
of Empire died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004, while at his home.
At his request, cremation has taken place. Services
will be announced at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Traverse
City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes.
