      RUTH M. ERICKSON, 82, of Traverse City, died Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at Munson Hospice House, surrounded by her loving family.
      Services will be private.
      Arrangements are being handled by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
     
      ELIZABETH MARIE HEISMAN, 64, of Traverse City, died Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at Munson Medical Center.
      Arrangements are being handled by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
     
      LORRAINE A. HOLLENBECK, 76, of Frankfort, died Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital Long Term Care.
      A complete obituary will appear in Friday's edition of the Record-Eagle.
      The Frankfort Chapel of McElduff Funeral Home and Cremation Service is handing the arrangements.
     
      GLEASON C. TAPP, 88, of Traverse City, passed away Monday, April 4, 2005.
      Funeral services will be held today, April 7, 2005, at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service, at the New Hudson United Methodist Church, 56730 Grand River, New Hudson, MI.
      Arrangements were made by the Phillips Funeral Home in South Lyon.
     
Sandra Ann Berry
Died April 5, 2005
      TRAVERSE CITY - Sandra A. Berry, 63, of Traverse City, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at Munson Medical Center.
      She was born Aug. 7, 1941, in Traverse City, the daughter of the late Lawrence Ole and Leona (Howard) Couturier.
      Sandra graduated from Lake Leelanau St. Mary's High School, and was the owner of 4 Paws Bed & Breakfast for pets.
      Sandra was a life-time member of the Traverse City Fair Board and leader of the Leelanau County 4-H program for more than 30 years. She enjoyed quilting, needlepoint, crocheting, crafts, and was a certified ceramics teacher.
      Sandra is survived by her beloved husband, Richard Berry of Traverse City; daughter, Tracy Marie Gowen of Gainesville, Fla.; two sons, Todd Joseph Ance of Erskine, Minn., and Troy Allen (Doreen) Ance of Perry; 10 grandchildren; one niece; one nephew; and brother, Howard "Butch" (Laurel Beth) Couturier of Lake Leelanau.
      She was preceded in death by her parents.
      Graveside services for Sandra will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2005, at the Lake Leelanau Cemetery, with Ron Folkersma officiating.
      Memorial contributions in memory of Sandra may be directed to the Berry family.
      The family has entrusted funeral arrangements to Oak Grove Cremation Center.
     
Lois Mary Chapline
Died April 6, 2005
      TRAVERSE CITY - Lois Mary Chapline, 89, of Traverse City, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at Munson Medical Center.
      Lois was born Feb. 4, 1916, in the Detroit area, where she was raised. She married William Chapline, who was Commander of the Traverse City Coast Guard.
      Lois was a glove model and worked at Hudson's Department Store for many years. She was an active member of the Children's Aid Foundation.
      Lois is survived by her loving son, Randall (Terri Ann) Pike of Pound Ridge, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Melissa (Bill) Ditrich of Traverse City, Steven (Tracy) Owens of Wilton, Conn., Carrie Pike of London, England and Brandon Pike of Pound Ridge, N.Y.; and five great-grandchildren. She will be missed by her many friends to whom was devoted and whom she loved.
      She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; and daughter, Sally Lynn.
      A visitation will be held today, April 7, 2005, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City. After visitation, cremation will take place and her cremains will be scattered next to her beautiful home on the Boardman River, where the swans spent many hours entertaining her.
      Arrangements were entrusted to the Covell Funeral Home of Traverse City.
     
Marvel M. Sarasin
Died April 4, 2005
      KEWADIN - Marvel M. Sarasin, 92, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, April 4, 2005, surrounded by her loving family, following a lengthy illness at Birchwood Nursing Center in Traverse City.
      Marvel was born Feb. 19, 1913, in Old Mission, the ninth child of 14 children born to Charles and Ellen (Mannor) Weatherholt .
      She attended Bates grade school and graduated in 1932 from St. Francis High School. On Nov. 30, 1939, at St. Francis Catholic Church, she married Philip M. Sarasin, who preceded her in death in 1988.
      Marvel was a homemaker and deputy township clerk for Milton Township. A woman who enjoyed the outdoors, reading and history, Marvel dearly loved her family and grandchildren.
      Survivors include four daughters, Mary Ellen Sarasin of Kewadin, Ann (Thomas) Jannereth of Byron Center, Kathleen (Bill) Edwardson of Elk Rapids and Rita Wier of Kewadin; two sons, Philip (Darlene) Sarasin and Frank (Roxanne) Sarasin, both of Kewadin; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Vincent (Betty) Weatherholt of Monroe; her brother-in-law, Jim (Edith) Sarasin of Traverse City; numerous nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Marvin Monroe and Susan Hansen.
      Marvel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Philip M. Sarasin in 1988; her grandson, Jason Edwardson; great-granddaughter, Emily Rose Sarasin; eight brothers, Clarence, John, Frank, Charles, Leo, Albert, Julius and Thomas Weatherholt; and four sisters, Alta Weatherholt, Edith LaBatt, Gertrude Jahnke and Margaret Weatherholt.
      Visitation will be held today, April 7, 2005, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. and 5 to 9 p.m., from Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elk Rapids, where a rosary will be prayed at 3:30 p.m., and Evening Prayer for the Dead from the Liturgy of the Hours at 6:30 p.m. A Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated Friday, April 8, 2005, at 10 a.m., also at the church, with the Rev. Robert J. Zuchowski serving as celebrant. The family will have additional visitation one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will take place in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Kewadin.
      Memorials may be given in Marvel's name to the Elk Rapids Ambulance, Sacred Heart Catholic Church Building Fund or Mass Intentions.
      Arrangements have been entrusted to the Covell Funeral Homes in Elk Rapids.
     
Joyce A. Trovato
Died April 5, 2005
      TRAVERSE CITY - Joyce Arlene Trovato, 77, of Traverse City, died Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at Munson Medical Center, where she was recuperating from surgery.
      Born Nov. 12, 1927, she was the daughter of Norma Irene (Demond) and Dewey Wonnacott. She married Samuel W. Trovato on April 5, 1947, in East Lansing.
      Joyce was employed as the assistant city clerk for the City of East Lansing prior to her retirement. When she and Sam retired in 1983, they moved to Traverse City.
      She was a member of Traverse Bay United Methodist Church and the UAW Retirees Association, where she also served on the board. She enjoyed sewing and working on all kinds of crafts. Joyce was an avid reader and loved to shop and travel. She always enjoyed spending time with family and looked forward to special holidays.
      Survivors include her children, Thomas Trovato and Peggy (Barry) Ferrill, all of Traverse City, and Sandra (David) Nye of Stevensville; her grandchildren, Julie Trovato, Amy Trovato, Russell Ferrill, Tamara Ferrill, Tracy Blanchard, Tina Esch and Steven Nye; and a great-granddaughter, Kelsey. Also surviving are her sister, Barbara Fickies of Lansing; and several nieces and nephews.
      Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sam on August 3, 2001; and by a brother, Lewis.
      Visitation will take place on Friday, April 8, 2005, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 9, at Traverse Bay United Methodist Church, (formerly Asbury), 1200 Ramsdell, with the Rev. Jeremy Williams officiating. Burial will take place at Deepdale Memorial Park in Lansing at a later date.
      Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society or to Munson Hospice.
