SALIDA, Colo. - George H. Brown, 72, died Thursday, April 14, 2005, at Columbine Manor Care Facility in Salida, Colo. He had Alzheimer's disease.
George was born Feb. 11, 1933, in Lansing. He attended Sexton High School, where he participated in football and jazz band, two interests that remained with him throughout his life.

In the mid 1960s, he became a partner in the firm Graheck, Bell, Kline and Brown, also known as GBKB Architects and Engineers. His professional career saw the construction of many roads, bridges, schools and hospitals throughout Michigan.

He raced Lightnings, crewed on countless "big boat" races, including the Chicago to Mac, and was instrumental in the design of the GTYC logo. Winters found George at Mt. Holiday (Holiday Hills), where he was a member of the ski patrol. George enjoyed skiing in Michigan, Ontario and Colorado. He skied until 2001.
He is survived by his daughters, Marifran Brown (John Stahly) of Manchester and Kathryn Wadsworth (George Wadsworth) of Salida, Colo.; three grandchildren, Kate Brown, William Stahly and Susan Wadsworth; his former wife, Irene Brown of Traverse City; dear friends, Helen and Edward Greene of Jackson; and his sister, Jamie Stiles of Lansing.
