Obituaries

      TERESA B. "TERRI" LEZON, 88, of Traverse City, died Tuesday morning, Aug. 9, 2005, at Inverness at Boardman Lake Glens.
      A full obituary will be in Thursday's edition of the Record-Eagle.
      Arrangements are by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.

      DIANE A. SPRINGSTEAD, 63, of Traverse City, died Aug. 8, 2005.
      Funeral services will be held at noon today, Wednesday, Aug. 10, with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time at East Bay Calvary Church. Dr. Kendale Dennis will officiate.
      Arrangements have been handled by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, Traverse City.

      WILLIAM EUGENE YOKEUM SR., father of Linda, Marcia, Lori, Bill and Mike; and grandfather of 11, died Friday, July 15, 2005.

Frieda E. Bagans
Died August 2, 2005
      GRAND BLANC - Frieda E. Bagans, 87, of Grand Blanc, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005. Frieda was born on March 11, 1918, in Trenton, the daughter of Ohrman and Barbara Kohler.
      Frieda married Richard Bagans on Dec. 17, 1952. They spent their winters traveling in their Airstream travel trailer. They cruised the world twice, the first time on the Queen Elizabeth I, and then in 2003 on the Queen Elizabeth II.
      Surviving are her sister, Alma Lillis of Livonia; brother, George Kohler of Mesa, Ariz.; nephews, Charles (Colleen) Cozad, Gary Cozad, Doug (Cathy) Cozad, Micheal Lillis and Larry Bagans; nieces, Julie Kuhn and Sandy Kittendorf; and grand-niece, Cynthia (Tony) Martin.
      She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Bagans; and brothers, Walter and Oscar Kohler.
      A memorial graveside service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2005, at 10 a.m., at Bloomdale Cemetery in Trenton.
      In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Genesys Hospice, 7280 S. State Road, Goodrich, MI or to the family for a scholarship fund set up for a Trenton student at Interlochen Arts Academy Summer Camp. Frieda's husband, Richard Bagans, had attended the summer camp when the music camp was being created and it had a profound impact on his life.
     
Percy Barnes
Died August 9, 2005
      FIFE LAKE - Percy Barnes, 75, of Fife Lake, died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2005, at his home after a short illness.
      Born May 25, 1930, in Manton, he was the son of Percy and Emma (Longstreet) Barnes. On Feb. 1, 1985, in South Boardman, he married Bonnie Smith.
      Percy graduated from Manton High School in 1948, and served in the United States Navy from 1949 to 1954.
      He worked as a journeyman electrician and also at Weiden International, retiring in 1982.
      He was a member of the Manton V.F.W. Post 7806 and the Fife Lake American Legion Post 219.
      Percy enjoyed being in the woods and outdoor activities, which included hunting, fishing, golf, trapping, berry picking and mushroom hunting. He dearly loved being with his family.
      Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; children, Douglas (Barbara) Barnes of Harrietta, Cindy (Tom) Reichhardt of Manton, Janet Mahler of Illinois, Dean Barnes of Kalkaska, Tena (Bill) Auger of Manistee Lake, Bryant (Mary) Skillern of Mancelona, Mona Anderson of Fife Lake and Todd Skillern of Fife Lake; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Darrell (Gertrude) Barnes of Ravenna; and two sisters, Norma Lickley of Port Huron and Bertha (Carl) Vincent of Manton.
      He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Lawrence; and two sisters, Jean Goodwin and Irma Worden.
      Visitation will be held Friday, Aug. 12, 2005, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., at the Hall Funeral Chapel in Manton. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 13, 2005, at 1 p.m., also at the funeral home. The Rev. Clif Burritt of the Boon Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Walton Cemetery in Fife Lake.

Robert J. DeLorme
Died August 5, 2005
      West Palm Beach - Robert J. DeLorme, 61, died Friday, Aug. 5, 2005, in Florida, after a lengthy illness.
      He was born in Detroit, Oct. 13, 1943, to Robert Fergusan and Doris Freudenthal. Adopted out when just a baby to Joseph and Edith DeLorme, they loved him as their own.
      After a car accident in which his brother had been killed, Robert found out when he was 10 that he had been adopted. That started a chain of events that led to finally finding his real brothers and sisters after 54 years.
      He lived in the Traverse City area most of his life until the weather got to be too much for him.
      Survivers include his brothers and sisters, and all his friends of Bill W.
      No memorial service is being planned at this time.

Francis C. Finch
Died August 8, 2005
      TRAVERSE CITY - Francis C. Finch, 83, of Traverse City, died Monday, Aug. 8, 2005, at Bortz Health Care in Traverse City.
      He was born Jan. 2, 1922, in Helena Township, Antrim County, the son of Charles and Jessie (Pickard) Finch.
      He married Dona Hersha on July 3, 1944, in Banks Township, and they made their home in Williamsburg. Mrs. Finch died in 1989. On June 23, 1990, he married Linda Paige in Elk Rapids, where they made their home before moving to Traverse City in 1994.
      Francis was a machinist employed by Super Tool in Elk Rapids until his retirement in 1981. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming.
      Surviving are his wife, Linda; children, Nathan (Mary) Finch of Crystal Lake, Ill., Jay (Mary) Finch of Mason, Marilyn Finch of Kewadin, Linda (Jim) Orr of Williamsburg and Eleanor (Dave) Stevenson of Albert Lea, Minn.; stepsons, Daniel Paige of Traverse City and Brian Paige of Copemish; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Erma (Bill) Best of Holmen, Wis.
      Friends may call at the Elk Rapids Baptist Church on Thursday, August 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, August 12, at 1 p.m., at the Elk Rapids Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gary Gladfelter officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Elk Rapids.
      Memorial contributions may be made to the Elk Rapids Baptist Church or Bortz Health Care of Traverse City.
      Arrangements were made by Hastings Funeral Home in Ellsworth.

Jonathan T. Pollock
Died August 5, 2005
      LAKE LEELANAU - Jonathan Taylor Pollock, 48, of Lake Leelanau, died Friday, Aug. 5, 2005. He was born March 26, 1957, in Midland, the son of James John and Jacquelyn Patricia (Yund) Pollock. In Lake Leelanau, on July 27, 1995, he married Catherine Kinske, who survives.
      The most important thing in Jon's life was his love for his family. His love of nature and the beauty of Northern Michigan brought him to Leelanau County, where he enjoyed living in Lake Leelanau.
      For many years Jon owned and operated the M-204 County Store with his wife. Prior to that he was a skilled draftsman and pipe designer.
      Jon is survived by his wife; his children, Ashley Haydu of Tacoma, Ga., and Dean Kinske and Claire Pollock, both of Suttons Bay; his mother, Jacquelyn of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; a brother, Jeff (Brenda) of Cupertino, Calif.; two sisters, Jennifer (Mike) Muldowney of Traverse City, Janis (Bob) Aydelott of Nevada City, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Kinske of Okemus; and six loving nieces.
      He was preceded in death by his father.
      Visitation will be held Friday, Aug. 12, 2005, from noon to 1:30 p.m., with a memorial service at 1:30 p.m., both at the Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay.
      Memorials may be directed to the Pollock Children's Fund.
