      TODD EDWARD SKILLERN BARNES, 36, of Fife Lake, died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2005, at Munson Medical Center, after a short illness.
      Visitation will be held Monday, Aug. 22, 2005, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Hall Funeral Chapel in Manton. Funeral services will take place Tuesday, Aug. 23, at 1 p.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Walton Cemetery in Fife Lake.

      MARIA BAYNE, 60, of Crawford County, died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005.
      Visitation will be Monday, Aug. 22, 2005, from 4 to 6 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., at the Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home, where a wake service will be held at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Aug. 23, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
      Arrangements are by the Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home in Grayling.

      ROBERT M. HANSON, 85, of Grayling, died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005.
      A graveside memorial service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005, at 1 p.m., at Elmwood Cemetery, with military honors accorded by the American Legion Post 106 of Grayling, Camp Grayling Firing Squad and the United States Army.
      Arrangements are by the Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home in Grayling.

      FLORA HELEN ISABELLE REBER HARDENBERGH, 78, of Portage Lake, died at home on Friday, Aug. 19, 2005, of complications associated with advanced lung cancer.
      Visitation will be held today, Aug. 21, 2005, from 4 to 5 p.m., at the Terwilliger Funeral Home in Kaleva. Graveside funeral services will be conducted Monday, Aug. 22, 2005, at 11 a.m., at Oak Grove Cemetery in Manistee.

      CAROLYN E. HENNICK, 84, of Grand Rapids, formerly of Traverse City, died Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2005.
      A memorial service will be held in Traverse City at a later date. Final arrangements will be in a future edition of the Record-Eagle.
      Arrangements are being handled by the Hyatt Ewald Funeral Home in Bay City.

      LEWIS RANGER, 73, of Northport, died Friday, Aug. 19, 2005.
      Arrangements are pending with the Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay.

      DORIS E. TRIECE, 96, of Manistee, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2005.
      Private family services will be held with the Rev. Russell Garrigus officiating. There will be no visitation.
      The family is being served by the Johnson Funeral Home in Manistee.
     
Alberta L. (Lautner) Smith Gee
Died August 20, 2005
      WILLIAMSBURG - Alberta L. (Lautner) Smith Gee, 87, was born Feb. 7, 1918, and passed away on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2005, to be with her Lord.
      She was an energetic, caring soul that truly tried to "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." "Bert," as she was known to her family and friends, enjoyed living life. She observed the mysteries of life, investigating, without any contempt or disgust.
      She suffered from Alzheimer's and although her departure from us was gradual, it was sad nonetheless. One could look at her face until her last breath, and see the reflection of gracefulness.
      She married Pete Smith on Sept. 9, 1939. Pete was a truck driver and Alberta worked in the meat department at Kroger until she retired. They lived on a cherry farm on Elk Lake Road until Pete died on Sept. 28, 1974.
      Alberta remarried widower, Henry Gee on Sept. 1, 1979. He was the Taylor Superintendent of Schools. Before and after his death, she became active in the Alzheimer's March along with the many other charities she supported.
      Alberta is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline Smith; granddaughters, Robbin (Bill) Bustance and Holly (Ken) Hogarth; four great-grandchildren, Dagney and Adanna Bustance, and Tucker and Parker Hogarth. Alberta left behind four brothers, Charles (Kathie), Earl (Betty), Merlin (Mary) and Donald (Wilma); and four sisters, Elinor (Henry) Herrmann, Dorothy (Butch) Hughes, Betty (Tom) Haywood and Nancy (Robert) Haywood.
      Alberta was preceded in death by a sister, Elaine (Forest) Skiver.
      Bert had many friends and enjoyed life, but the thing she loved the most was family.
      Friends may call at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home today, Aug. 21, 2005, from 6 to 8 p.m. Services will take place Monday, Aug. 22, at 2 p.m., also at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Ellinger officiating. Burial will be in the Yuba Cemetery.
      Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.

Michael D. Send
Died August 18, 2005
      GAYLORD - Michael D. Send, of Gaylord, formerly of South Boardman, passed away suddenly Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005, at his home. Born June 12, 1956, in Traverse City, he is the son of Arthur and Florence (Laming) Send.
      Michael graduated from Traverse City Senior High School. He was employed by Ward Lake Energy since 1999, and prior to that, Amoco Oil.
      Michael enjoyed snowmobiles, motorcycles and spending time with his family. Michael was the "life of the party" and his laugh will be missed by all.
      He was a member of the Moose Lodge Post 2348 of Kalkaska.
      Michael is survived by his children, Michele (Scott) McDowell of Kalkaska and Natasha (John) Rogers of Kalkaska; grandchildren, Gabriel, Sean, Jordan, Mariah, and Baby McDowell; parents, Arthur and Florence Send of Williamsburg; siblings, Rose (Gary) Hanna of Williamsburg, Gloria (John) Hamelund of Big Rapids, Pamela (Robert) Lewis of Williamsburg, David (Diane) Send of South Boardman, Gregory (Jill) Send of Williamsburg, Mary (George) Drogt of Kewadin, Jeffery (Sandy) Send, Eric (Donna) Send, Mark (Tara) Send and Martin (Jeanie) Send, all of Williamsburg; the mother of his children and dear friend, Lisa (Brendt) Bell; siblings of Michele and Natasha, Heidi and Zac Bell; numerous nieces and nephews; and one great-niece.
      Visitation will be held Monday, Aug. 22, 2005, from 2 to 9 p.m., at Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. The funeral service will be Tuesday, Aug. 23, at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
      A memorial fund has been established for the Grandchildren's Education Fund, c/o Michele McDowell, 886 Brian Drive SE, Kalkaska, MI 49646.

Felix M. Regulinski
Died August 18, 2005
      SUTTONS BAY - Felix Michael Regulinski, 94, of Suttons Bay, died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005, at Bortz Health Care Center of Traverse City.
      Felix was born July 11, 1911, in Detroit, the son of Roman and Veronica Regulinski. He attended St. Florian and St. Alburtus grade schools and Hamtramck High School, all in Hamtramck.
      He was an inspector of airplanes and pattern maker at Murray Bodies. He retired from Allen Hayosh Industries as a model maker.
      Felix was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 50 years and a faithful, dutiful parishioner.
      Dad was always eager to help out family, friends or neighbors, usually with a clever pun or joke. Felix, just like McGyver, could make something out of nothing. He was neat, mild mannered and loved and respected by all, but watch out for his strong hand shake.
      Felix is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Stella (Koscielski) Regulinski; a daughter, Terre Pawlowicz; a son, Ray Regulinski; six grandchildren, Jim Pawlowicz, Kathy Chamberlain, Karen Shafer, Matt Pawlowicz, Ray and Glenn Regulinski; and four great-grandchildren.
      Visitation will be held Sunday, Aug. 21, 2005, from 3 to 8 p.m., at the Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay, where a Vigil service will be held at 7 p.m., followed by the rosary being prayed. A viewing will be held Monday, Aug. 22, at 10 a.m., with the Mass at 11:00 a.m., at St. Michael's Parish of Suttons Bay. The Reverend Wayne Dziekan will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery.

Pauline Atwell Bond
Died August 18, 2005
      TRAVERSE CITY - Pauline Atwell Bond, 95, of Traverse City, formerly of Pontiac, passed away Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005, at The Arbor House in Traverse City. Pauline was born in Menominee on July 13, 1910.
      Pauline graduated from Harper Hospital School of Nursing in Detroit as a Registered Nurse in 1931, and retired from Pontiac General Hospital in the 1970s. Earlier in her career she worked in public health at the TB Sanatorium.
      Pauline was a member of Emmanual Baptist Church in Pontiac until her move to Traverse City in 2003 to be with her daughter.
      She loved her nursing career, playing bridge and being with her family. Her bright, sunny smile will be greatly missed by everyone.
      She is survived by a daughter, Barbara (John) Peters of Traverse City; son, Thomas J. Atwell of Waterford, along with his companion, Bonnie Spears; two grandsons, Mark and Gary Atwell of Dallas; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
      She was preceded in death by her husbands, Joseph L. Atwell in 1976 and Howard I. Bond in 2003. Her siblings, Grace, Isabel, Sue, Irene, Emma, Harriett and Joe also preceded her in death.
      The family would like to thank Cindy Robertson and the staff at The Arbor House in Traverse City for their love and care of Pauline.
      The family will receive friends today, Aug. 21, 2005, from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., at Donelson, Johns and Evans Funeral Home in Waterford. A celebration of Pauline's life will be held Monday, Aug. 22, 2005, at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home. The Rev. Charles Schort will officiate. Interment will be in White Chapel Memorial Cemetery.

Rev. Delbert E. Nixon
Died August 8, 2005
      GRAND RAPIDS - Reverend Delbert E. Nixon, 78, of Grand Rapids, passed away Monday, Aug. 8, 2005. Born in Monroe on Jan. 28, 1927, to Hugh and Charlotte Nixon, he was one of ten children.
      He sensed a call to the ministry while an engineer at Ford Motor Company. Pastoring for over 40 years, his ministry included six churches, having founded Bethany Baptist Church of Monroe and Bible Baptist Church of Traverse City.
      The Rev. Nixon's interests included photography, computers, various gizmos and gadgets, and his love for living in northern Michigan. When it was really "cold and dreary," Delbert always reported it as "warm and sunny."
      He was known as compassionate, and loved people, especially the little ones. The "kids club," his children and grandchildren, truly filled his heart with joy.
      He and Vivian, married 50 years, are survived by their five children, Tim, Dick, Stephen, Kathy(Evans) and Jeff. In addition, there are ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
      The past twelve years, in spite of great physical challenges, he continued to exemplify courage, strength and his faith. His high school yearbook describes him as "small but mighty"... to those who were privileged to know him, we knew this to be true.
      A memorial service, held in his honor, will be Friday, Sept. 2, 2005, at 2 p.m., at Bethany Baptist Church, 2740 Nadeau Road, Monroe, MI; (734) 289-1160.

Joseph A. Fredrick
Died July 6, 2005
      LEHIGH, Fla. - Joseph A. Fredrick of Lehigh Acres, Fla., died July 6, 2005, after a nine-month courageous battle with cancer.
      The son of Arthur R. Fredrick and Amanda (Fredrick) Erickson, he was born July 12, 1953, at Munson Hospital in Traverse City, where he spent his early life.
      After graduation he joined the carpenter's union, and was given the chance to move to Naples, Fla., to work on high rises. He studied to become a contractor and built his home in Lehigh Acres, Fla.
      Joe's life-long passion for music and the guitar has been a source of many good friendships. His love for dogs gave him companionship; his love of nature gave him inspiration.
      Surviving are a daughter, Amanda Fredrick of Lithia, Fla.; two sisters, Lucinda A. Bowles of Avon Park, Fla., and Rebecca Houtman of Williamsburg; two brothers, Gary D. Basch and Donald W. Basch, both of Traverse City; his mother, Amanda (Fredrick) Erickson, and stepfather, Walter T. Erickson, of Bonita Springs, Fla.; and Marc Clark of Lehigh Acres, Fla., a very good friend who stood by and helped Joe through thick and thin.
      A memorial service will be held at Memorial Gardens on Veterans Drive in Traverse City on Saturday Aug. 27, 2005, at 2 p.m. Joe's ashes will be buried in the family plot next to his father, Arthur R. Fredrick, who preceded him in life ever after.
