BERRIDGE, 90, a long-time summer resident of Platte Lake, died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005, at Tendercare-Birchwood Nursing Center in Traverse City.Family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. MOLLY P. LEVIN, 83, departed this world for the next on Friday, Aug. 26, 2005, at her home in Old Mission. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2005, at 1 p.m., at the Old Mission Congregational Church. A complete obituary will be in Monday's edition of the Record-Eagle. Arrangements are by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Hazel L. Lile Died August 25, 2005 TRAVERSE CITY - Hazel L. Lile, 94, of Traverse City, passed away Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005. She was born March 19, 1911, to Ralph and Irma (Sammons) Glass in Mayfield. On Feb. 10, 1940, she married Lynn B. Lile in her parent's home in Mayfield. Employed at the Traverse Bay Woolen Company as a sales clerk, Hazel enjoyed sewing and spending time with the local neighborhood sewing circle. She enjoyed travel, taking periodic trips to several locations around the United States. She was a past president for Birmley (Cherry Knoll) PTA. A member of CWF at the First Christian Church, serving in many other church positions, Hazel was very active in her church community. She was also a member of the Michigan Association for the Blind. Hazel is survived by her children, Richard (Deanna) Lile of Southbury, Conn., and Alice Lorraine (John) Underwood of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandchildren, Barry Lile of Marysville, Lisa (Phillip) Nelson of Southbury, Conn., Todd (Tori) Hundley of Manistee, Walt (Victoria) Hundley of Traverse City and Heather (Gary) Tatman of Greensburg, Ind.; brother, Ferris (Carmel) Glass of Traverse City; and sister Evelyn "EJ" Platt of California. Besides her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her beloved husband and sister, Helen Bond. A visitation will be held Monday, Aug. 29, 2005, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the First Christian Church on S. Airport Road, where the funeral will be held at 1 p.m.. The Rev. Evan Williams will officiate. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Traverse City. The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the First Christian Church, the American Heart Association or the Michigan Association for the Blind. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Covell Funeral Homes of Traverse City. Iva C. Phillips Died August 26, 2005 TRAVERSE CITY - Iva Catherine Phillips, 79, of Traverse City, very peacefully went home to be with her Lord on Friday, Aug. 26, 2005. Her dear friends, Jim and Marilyn Achard had the honor of caring for her during these last few weeks of her illness as she battled her disease with cancer. Iva was born April 9, 1926, in LaPorte, Ind., to John and Iva (Shearer) Bennett. She moved to Traverse City with her family at the age of 6, and graduated from Central High School in 1945. She later moved to Chicago and worked for International Harvester. On Sept. 5, 1953, she married James Edward Philips at Traverse City Christian Church. For 32 years she worked as the receptionist for Dr. John Hays, D.D.S. The things she loved and enjoyed most were her church and her family. Her faith was so strong that it carried her in good health and during her illness. She was a charter member of the Peninsula Bible Church, where for many years she was treasurer and a board member. She enjoyed bowling, camping, walking her dogs, and was an avid gardener. She is survived by her brother, William (Ellie) Bennett; sister-in-law, Mrs. Charles (Alta) Bennett; many nieces and nephews; and her very special friends, Marilyn and Jim Achard. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Jim; and brothers, Charles, Melvin and John. Visitation will take place on Monday, Aug. 29, 2005, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 30, at 11 a.m., at Peninsula Bible Church, 430 Fair Street at Titus, where visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Phil Douglass will officiate. Burial will be in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens beside her husband. In lieu of lowers, memorials may be given in her memory to Peninsula Bible Church, Main Door Project, 430 Fair Street, Traverse City, MI 49686.
