CHERYL ANN MOTT, 42, of Grawn, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, at home. Arrangements are pending and will be announced by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. MANISTEE - Michael Thomas Moore Sr., died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, at his residence. He was born Aug. 1, 1963, in Frankfort, the son of William and Mary (Washegesic) Moore. Michael was a member of the Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Indians and was an avid hunter. He is survived by his ex-wife, Tracy Moore of Manistee; three sons, Michael Moore II of Manistee, Gregory Moore of Manistee and Justin Moore of Manistee; five brothers, Ernie Gablow of Suttons Bay, George (Fay) Gablow of Richmond, Kenny Gablow of Lincoln Park, Patrick (Lynn) Moore of Traverse City and Timothy (Kay) Moore of Grayling; two sisters, Sheila Boomer of Grawn and Edith Parcher of South Bend, Ind.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Michael was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at 3 p.m., at the Terwilliger Funeral Home in Kaleva, where visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of services. The Terwilliger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. TRAVERSE CITY - Richard M. "Dick" Schaefer, 81, died peacefully at his home on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, surrounded by his family. He was born May 3, 1923, in Dearborn, one of nine children born to J. Joseph and Matilda (Esper) Schaefer. On Sept. 29, 1951, he married Johanna "Bette" Marchand in Grosse Pointe. The Schaefers were a pioneering family in Dearborn, where Richard lived most of his life. Schaefer Road is named after Richard's great-grandfather. Richard worked with Ford Motor Land Development Company for 17 years and retired in 1989. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Richard, Bette and family were long-standing and founding members of St. Anselm Catholic Church in Dearborn Heights. Richard and Bette relocated to Traverse City in 1996, and together have fully enjoyed their retirement. Richard's hobbies included golf (once scoring a hole in one), playing bridge, listening to country music, traveling and family gatherings. Richard is survived by his wife of 53 years, Bette. He is also survived by his eight children, Suzanne Gower of St. Petersburg, Fla., Linda (Jim Foster) Schaefer of Mt. Pleasant, Mary Jo (Calvin) Lounds of Mason, Robert (Kiersten) Schaefer of Cincinnati, Judy (Todd) Johnson of Marquette, Nancy (Enrico) Schaefer of Traverse City, Patty (Mark) Matheson of Grosse Pointe Park and Annie (Russell Williams) Schaefer of Spokane, Wash; and 20 grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters, Patti (Cleto) Leone of Virginia Beach, Va., Adele Arzbecker of Dayton, Ohio, Ruth (Herb) Schiebold of Bloomfield Hills, Lucille (Bill) Fortney of Dearborn, Barbara (Donald) Hemstreet of Sammamish, Wash; and his sister-in-law, Josephine Schaefer of Chicago. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Jeffrey Schaefer; siblings, Donald, Joseph, and Sr. Rita Schaefer, O.P.; brother-in-law, Dick Arzbecker; and his beloved springer spaniel, Bonnie. Richard was loved very much by his family and will be deeply missed. He was so proud of his family and truly enjoyed the quality time spent with them, where gatherings became celebrations. Visitation will take place today, Feb. 20, 2005, from 2 to 5 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City, where a rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at 11 a.m., at St. Francis Catholic Church, with visitation one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations would be appreciated to the Adrian Dominican, 1257 East Siena Heights Drive, Adrian, MI 49221 or St. Vincent de Paul.
