July 3, 2005ObituariesEUGENE JOSEPH HIBBARD, 72, of Traverse City, died Friday, July 1, 2005.A memorial service will be held today, July 3, at 1 p.m., at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. The family will meet friends starting at noon at the funeral home. DONALD J. LESSARD, 65, of Wyandotte, formerly of Bellarie, died June 30, 2005, at the Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2005, at 2 p.m., at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes, where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to services. FLORENE "FLO" MAHLER, 77, of Manistee, died Saturday, June 25, 2005, at the Manistee County Medical Care Facility. Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 9, 2005, at 11 a.m., at the First Congregational UCC Church in Manistee. The family is being served by the Johnson Funeral Home in Manistee. ARLENE "VICKIE" MUMA MOORE, 61, of Mancelona, died Thursday, June 30, 2005, at her home. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, July 5, 2005, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 6, at 2 p.m., also at the funeral home. Cordelia "Della" Maier Died June 30, 2005 TRAVERSE CITY - Cordelia "Della" Maier, 93, entered eternal life Thursday, June 30, 2005. Born Oct. 23, 1911, on a farm in Chippewa County, she attended the one room school houses in the Upper Peninsula, graduating from Sault High School in 1928. She attended County Normal School and was certified to teach elementary school. Her first school was on Neebish Island teaching the children of the lighthouse keepers. She attended night school and summer school and graduated cum laude from Northern Michigan University in 1960. Della taught for 33 years in the Rudyard Township Schools, where she served as the first president of the Rudyard Education Association. She was an active member of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel and Delta Kappa Gamma. A life-long resident of the Upper Peninsula, Della resided at the Village at Bay Ridge and at Boardman Lake Glens in Traverse City since October of 2000. She is survived by a daughter, Lorna (George) Lombard of Traverse City; a son, David (Ida Ward) Bergsma of Brighton; grandchildren, Lynne Lombard, Janet (Dan) McGee, Brent Bergsma, Nicole (Jeff) Charder and Jennifer Bergsma; and great-grandchildren, Shealyn and Ryan McGee, Jessica and Corbin Charder and Haileigh Gross. She was preceded in death by her parents; six siblings; and three husbands, Dave Bergsma, Noble Graham and Albert Maier. Funeral services will be held at Reamer Galer Funeral Home in Pickford. Wolfersheim Died July 2, 2005 SUTTONS BAY - Barbara Heim Wolfersheim, 75, of Suttons Bay, died Saturday, July 2, 2005, at Munson Hospice House. Barbara was born April 16, 1930, in Chicago, the daughter of Nicholas and Wilma (Christy) Heim. She graduated from Hinsdale High School in 1948 and attended the University of Chicago on an academic scholarship. On July 26, 1952, she married her best friend and high school sweetheart, William John Wolfersheim, who survives. She was a lover of fine writing and music. She adored all of God's wonders, but her greatest love was her family and all the little things wives, mothers and grandmothers are meant to be. All who knew her loved her as a gracious lady. Barbara is survived by her husband; three children, Bruce (Marcy) of Phoenix, Kristi (Jeffrey) Link of Traverse City and Rebecca Feltus of Fairhope, Ala.; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Wolfersheim, Jason and Laura Link, and Hannah and Molly Feltus. She was preceded in death by her sister, Kathy Glasshour. Visitation will be held Monday, July 4, 2005, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 5, at 10 a.m., at the Central United Methodist Church in Traverse City. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Central United Methodist Church of Traverse City.
