      HERMAN G. COBREA, 66, of Traverse City, died Friday, July 8, 2005, at Birchwood Nursing Home.
      A funeral service will be held Monday, July 11, 2005, at 2 p.m., at the Wolfe Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
      Arrangements are by the Wolfe Funeral Home of Kalkaska.

      ELAINE MARIE GALVIN, 68, of Traverse City, died Friday, July 8, 2005, at Munson Medical Center.
      Arrangements are pending at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac.

      RISE D. JENNINGS, 58, of Manistee, died unexpectedly Friday, July 8, 2005, at Munson Medical Center.
      Visitation will be Tuesday, July 12, 2005, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee, where a VFW Auxiliary memorial service will take place at 7:30 p.m. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2005, at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lake City Cemetery at a later date.
      Arrangements are by the Herbert Funeral Home of Manistee.

      JULIA M. "JUDY" LUDKA, 69, of Traverse City, died Friday, July 8, 2005, at her home.
      A full obituary will be in Monday's edition of the Record-Eagle.
      The family is being served by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.

Samuel Thomas Lambert
Died July 7, 2005
      KINGSLEY - Samuel Thomas Lambert, 66, of Kingsley, formerly of Fife Lake, died Thursday, July 7, 2005.
      Born Oct. 5, 1938, in Ann Arbor, he was the son of Ray Jasper and Annabell (Wiley) Lambert. On Jan. 10, 1959, in Kingsley, he married Della Mae Brodrick.
      Samuel was employed at the Operating Engineers Local 324, and was a member of the Buckley Old Engine Show and the Good Neighbors Club.
      He is survived by his wife, Della; daughter, Gail (Tony) Weber; son, Thomas (Jamie) Lambert of Traverse City; granddaughters, Samantha, Sarah and Robin Weber; and great-grandson, Rylee Louise Bristol of Kingsley; sisters, Maxine (Richard) Neihardt, Rachell Russell, Alice Cheeseman; brothers, Myron Lambert, Ray (Robin) Lambert and Gary (Diane) Lambert; and special nieces and nephews.
      Samuel was preceded in death by Ray Jasper Lambert, Dwight Cheeseman, Annabell Cheeseman, Dwight Cheeseman II and Ardell Lantzer.
      Cremation will take place. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 12, 2005, at 2 p.m., at the Covell-Smith Funeral Home in Kingsley, with visitation from noon until the time of service. Pastor Char Minger will officiate.
      Memorial contributions may be directed to Munson Hospice or the Kingsley United Methodist Church.
      Arrangements have been entrusted to the Covell-Smith Funeral Home in Kingsley.

Dorothy Emily Harroun
Died July 8, 2005
      FRANKFORT - Dorothy Emily Harroun, 90, of Frankfort, formerly of Pontiac, died Friday, July 8, 2005, at Munson Hospice House.
      She was born Feb. 8, 1915, in Ontario, Canada, the daughter of Harold and Daisy (Barrett) Cowling.
      Dorothy was a member of Eden Bible Church in Beulah and a past member of North Auburn Hills Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years.
      In her spare time, Dorothy enjoyed various craft projects. Most of all, Dorothy loved taking care of her family.
      Dorothy is survived by four children, Daisy and Earl Pierce of Spruce, Carol and Dale Payne of Honor, David and Jeanine Harroun of Big Rapids and Nancy and Dennis Vineyard of Washington, Mich.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; five brothers and sisters, Eva Cunningham of Barrie, Ontario, Canada, Jack Cowling of Fareham, Hampshire, England, Gladys White of Campbell River, British Columbia, Canada, Edith and Wallace Newman of Crossville, Tenn., and Richard Cowling of London, Ontario, Canada; three sisters-in-law, Lola Cowling of Oliver Springs, Tenn., Jennie Crandall of Oxford and Bonnie Harroun of Waterford; and numerous nieces and nephews.
      She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Harroun in 1982; son, Eric Harroun; daughter, Joyce Harroun; son, Thomas Dean Harroun during infancy; three grandchildren, Donna Harroun, Jerry Payne and Linda Baker; and one brother, Eric Cowling.
      Funeral services will be conducted Monday, July 11, 2005, at 5 p.m., at the Eden Bible Church in Beulah, where visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until the time of service. Pastor Dan Ingersoll will officiate.
      Funeral services will also be conducted Wednesday, July 13, 2005, at 1 p.m., at North Auburn Hills Baptist Church in Auburn Hills, where visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of services. Pastor Dan Ingersoll and Dr. John Marine will officiate. Interment will be in the Christian Memorial Cultural Center in Rochester Hills.
      Memorial contributions may be made to Eden Bible Church Building Fund or to Munson Hospice.
      The Bennett-Barz Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ila A. Thiel
Died July 8, 2005
      ALDEN - Mrs. Ila A. Thiel, 76, of Alden, formerly of Bridgeport, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, passed away Friday, July 8, 2005, at Munson Medical Center.
      Ila Ann McKinnon was born Jan. 22, 1929, in Ironwood, the daughter of the late Florence (King) and John Alexander McKinnon. She married Donald Francis Thiel on Sept. 29, 1951. He predeceased her March 14, 1990.
      She had been employed by the US Postal Service in Bridgeport as a letter carrier, retiring in 1992, making her home in Alden since that time. She had been a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church in Bridgeport.
      Surviving are five daughters, four sons and their spouses, Dawn and Robert Pepera of Vassar, Lynn and Dennis Amman of Chesaning, Julie and Peter Fitzpatrick of Fallbrook, Calif., Mark Thiel of Alden, Mary and Bill Comstock of Rapid City, Vaughn Thiel of Midland, Ross Thiel of San Jose, Calif., Yvette and Jeff Dopp of Williamsburg, and Karl and Anna Thiel of Mason; 19 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother, Inez Barry, Cliff and his wife, Delores McKinnon and Ida Fillion, all of Alden; and many nieces, nephews and their families.
      Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Sheryl Thiel; two sisters and one brother, Irene Lennon, Irma Ruth and Ronald McKinnon.
      Friends may call today, July 10, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 5700 Dixie Highway near Bridgeport, where they may meet at 7 p.m. for a vigil service led by Sr. Ellen Rinke, IHM. A funeral Mass will take place Monday, July 11, 2005, at 10 a.m., at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 3945 Williamson Rd., Bridgeport, where friends and family may call one hour prior to the Mass. The Rev. Fr. John Mancini, OSFS will officiate, with burial in Pinegrove Cemetery in Bridgeport.

Oakley O. Lardie
Died July 8, 2005
      OLD MISSION PENINSULA - Oakley O. Lardie, 95, a life-long resident of Old Mission Peninsula, died at home Friday, July 8, 2005. Born June 7, 1910, Oakley died in the presence of loved ones at the home in which he was born.
      Oakley served his country during World War II as a Navy Seabee in the Pacific until his honorable discharge in 1945.
      He lived a long, productive and eventful life. His working years included cherry farming, carpentry, mink-ranching and several years as Peninsula Township's tax assessor.
      His other life interests were varied as well, which included frequent hunting trips, wood-working, camping, and rose gardening.
      He was the last living member of the original Shingle Mill Deer Hunting Camp of Matchwood, near Ontonagon, and a frequent visitor to Grand Falls Camp in Ontario, Canada. Oakley and his wife, Mary, traveled extensively in their later years to Alaska, Mexico, Hawaii, Texas and Florida.
      He generously shared his life with church and community. The Lardie family provided the land on which the St. Joseph Catholic Church resides, and was the church's oldest living member at the time of his passing. He was also the oldest living founding member of the original Peninsula Township Fire Department, as well as a lifetime member of the Traverse City Elk's Lodge. He was also a former Scenic Trails Council Boy Scouts Commissioner, and a long time supporter of 4-H youth groups.
      He will be greatly missed by family and friends, and will be fondly remembered as a gentleman and a gentle man whose quiet strength and steadfastness made the world a better place.
      He is survived by his wife, Mary E. Lardie, daughters, Nancy (Gill) Uithol and Judy Freundl; sons, Kenneth J. (Mary V.) and Charles W. Lardie, all of Old Mission Peninsula; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived also by his stepchildren, Mary Frances Dorman of Bellaire, Kathleen (Don) Wagner and Harry C. Dorman Jr. of Rapid City.
      Oakley was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; two brothers; his first wife, Jill in 1977; a son, Dale; and a daughter, Eileen.
      The Lardie family would like to extend a special thank you to the caregivers, especially Martha Cosens, Char Case and Herta Wolf, for their wonderful care given to Oakley.
      Friends may call at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home today, July 10, 2005, from 2 to 4 p.m., with a scripture service at 4 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, July 11, at 11 a.m., at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Center Road in Traverse City, with the Rev. Edwin Thome and Deacon James Krupka officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery following the service. A luncheon will follow at the church hall.
