Obituaries


      ARTHUR DEMPSTER CLARKE, 83, of Manistee, died Friday, July 29, 2005, at Memorial Medical Center in Ludington.
      The family will be present at the Herbert Funeral Home on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., to meet with family and friends.
      The Herbert Funeral Home of Manistee is in charge of funeral arrangements.

      Services remembering A. ROSALIE HAPPY, who died April 23, 2005, will be held Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005, at 11 a.m., at Traverse Bay United Methodist Church in Traverse City.
      The family was served by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.

      CHRISTINE MORDEN, 53, of Bear Lake, died Friday, July 29, 2005, at West Shore Medical Center in Manistee.
      A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005, at 10 a.m., at the Edwards-Oak Grove Funeral Home in Bear Lake. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Bear Lake.
      Arrangements are by the Edwards-Oak Grove Funeral Home in Bear Lake.

      THERESE C. STOWE, 36, of Northport, died Friday, July 29, 2005, at Munson Medical Center.
      Visitation will be held Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Bethany Lutheran Church in Northport. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., also at the church. Burial will follow in Leelanau Township Cemetery.
      Arrangements are with the Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay.

      A burial service for ELWARD ALMON TAISEY will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at Fairview Cemetery (south side) in Mancelona.

      SUSIE M. THARP, 84, of Traverse City, died Saturday, July 30, 2005, in St. Johns.
      Local arrangements are pending. A full obituary will be in Monday's edition of the Record-Eagle.
      Arrangements are by the Osgood Funeral Home in St. Johns.

      LUELLA MAE WINEK, 85, of Beulah, died Friday, July 29, 2005, at home.
      A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005, at 5 p.m., at the Cornerstone Assembly of God Church in Beulah, with Pastor Dennis Winek Jr. officiating. Cremation will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Manistee.
      The family has entrusted the Oak Grove Cremation Center with funeral arrangements.

Ruth Fritz
Died July 15, 2005
      TRAVERSE CITY - Ruth Fritz, 82, of Traverse City and Kalkaska, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2005, at the Veterans Home in Rifle, Colo.
      Born and raised in Maine, Ruth was gifted with a beautiful voice and sang professionally as a young woman.
      She joined the Navy in 1945 as a "Wave," where her talents were used to help organize entertainment for our troops.
      Ruth fell in love and married Arthur G. Fritz Jr. in 1946, and family life became her first love.
      Ruth was devoted to her God and family. Her capacity for love and compassion was without limits and this becomes the legacy that her family and friends must strive to imitate in her honor.
      She is survived by her loving daughter, Beverly Kennedy; son, Arthur G. Fritz III; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Jack Fritz; and nephews and nieces and their families that she always held dear to her heart.
      A memorial service will be held Aug. 6, 2005, at 9 a.m., at St. Francis Catholic Church in Traverse City, and at St. Marys of the Woods in Kalkaska at 11:30 a.m. Full military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post 106 of Grayling, Camp Grayling Firing Squad and the United States Navy, at 1:30 p.m., at the Elmwood Cemetery in Grayling, where she will rest beside her beloved Husband.
      Arrangements have been entrusted to the Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home in Grayling.

Robert K. Gee
Died July 28, 2005
      TRAVERSE CITY - Robert Keith Gee, 56, of Traverse City, died unexpectedly Thursday, July 28, 2005, of a heart attack, while golfing with friends.
      Bob was born in Traverse City on Feb. 26, 1949, the son of Donna J. (Moore) and Keith A. Gee. He graduated from Traverse City Central, and then continued his education at Ferris State University, earning a degree in business. On Aug. 20, 1994, Bob married Ann M. Oprea in Traverse City.
      Bob had been employed as a driver of UPS for 24 years and also helped manage the family business, Forest Hills Apartments.
      He enjoyed golf, cigars, snorkeling, antiquing, garage sales and auctions. He was a member of the teamsters through UPS and a member of the First Congregational Church.
      Bob is survived by his wife, Ann; their children, Christopher, Kimberly and Daniel Ryan; his mother, Donna J. Gee; and his sister, Susan (David) Schlueter, all of Traverse City. He will be missed by his Ferris buddies, Pat, Gary and Quincy; as well as several nieces, nephews and in-laws. Also surviving is his beloved dog, Carmen, who sits at the window, waiting.
      Bob was preceded in death by his father, Keith; and his grandparents.
      Bob's family would like to express their thanks to Joe and Tom for all of their help.
      Bob's zest for life will continue through others thanks to his gift of organ donation through the Gift of Life program.
      The family will receive visitors at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home on Saturday, Aug. 6, from 6 to 8 p.m., and will continue on Sunday, beginning one hour prior to the service. A service celebrating Bob's life will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, at the funeral home. The Rev. Ron Sinclair and the Rev. Jim Bendig will officiate. Private family graveside services will take place at Oakwood Cemetery at a later date.
      The family would appreciate memorial contributions in Bob's name to the Women's Breast Cancer Fund of the Biederman Cancer Treatment Center, c/o Munson Healthcare Regional Foundation or to the Cherryland Humane Society.

Robert K. Golden
Died July 29, 2005
      TRAVERSE CITY - Robert Golden, 79, of Traverse City, died Friday, July 29, 2005, at Munson Medical Center.
      Robert, often called Bobby, was born July 27, 1926, in Grand Rapids, to Nathaniel and Martha (Carlisle) Golden. Bobby was raised in Traverse City and worked for seven years as an assembler at Asgard Enterprises.
      He enjoyed music, loved watching movies, and Bobby especially loved being with his family.
      Bobby is survived by his brother, Bill (Barbara) Golden; several nieces and nephews; also his caretaker of 18 years, Cindy Robinson Smith.
      He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Richard.
      Funeral services will be Monday, Aug. 1, 2005, at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior, at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Fr. Peter Eke will conduct the service.
      In lieu of flowers, memorials to Arbor House Assisted Living would be appreciated.
