June 12, 2005ObituariesKARL H. HILLMANN I, 77. of Bellaire, died Thursday evening, June 9, 2005, at Munson Medical Center. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. ALICE I. (KUENZER) PETERSON, 84, of Manistee, died Thursday, June 9, 2005. Visitation will be Monday, June 13, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Johnson Funeral Home. Services will be held Tuesday, June 14, at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home. Arrangements are by the Johnson Funeral Home of Manistee. Graveside services for FREDERICK "RICK" ROKOS, who died Jan. 4, 2005, will be held Tuesday, June 14, 2005, at 6 p.m., at the Linwood Cemetery in Long Lake Township. Arrangements are by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. GERALD A. TOROK, 63, of Mancelona, died Saturday, June 11, 2005, at his home. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by the Wolfe Funeral Home of Kalkaska. Wendy A. Beck June 7, 2005 FISHER, Ind. - Wendy A. Beck, of Fisher Ind., and Frankfort, beloved wife and mother, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2005. She was born Nov. 21, 1946, in Oak Park, Ill., to Richard and Lillian Fuhrman. She was a graduate of Oak Park High School and earned her bachelor's degree from Baker University in Baldwin, Kan. She raised her family as an Air Force wife, truly the toughest job in the military. Wendy was a longtime summer resident of Frankfort and a member of the Congregational Summer Assembly. She is survived by her husband, Jim; sons, Tim and Brandon; grandson, Micheal; mother, Lillian; sisters, Susan and Laurie; along with countless friends; and six nieces and a nephew. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 13, 2005, at 2 p.m., at the Congregational Summer Assembly, with Reverend Dinah Haag officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Crystal Lake Township Cemetery. A charitable donation, in lieu of flowers, may be sent to a memorial fund in care of the Congregational Summer Assembly, 2128 Pilgrim Hwy., Frankfort, MI 49635. Gary Lee Tousley Nov. 17, 1937-June 10, 2005 FARMINGTON HILLS - Gary Lee Tousley, 67, of Farmington Hills, formerly of Traverse City, passed away at home on Friday, June 10, 2005. Gary was born Nov. 17, 1937, in Traverse City, to Clarence and Muriel (Stables) Tousley. He married Carolyn A. Wood on Sept. 2, 1962. She preceded him in death in 2004. Gary served in the United States Air Force for a number of years, worked as a Realtor and as a motor carrier for the Detroit News for 29 years until heart surgery forced him to retire. Gary loved the out-of-doors, wildlife, and hunting, and was an avid fisherman. Gary is survived by his daughter, Mya (Jim) Tousley-Twesten of Davisburg; and two brothers, John (Barbara) Tousley of Mt. Pleasant and Paul (Nancy) Tousley of Northville. A graveside service will be held at the Oakwood Cemetery in Traverse City on Tuesday, June 14, at 11 a.m. Rev. Larry VanSlambrook will be officiating. The family is being served by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Freedom A. Watson Died January 15, 2005 TRAVERSE CITY - Freedom A. Watson, 92, of Traverse City, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, at Bortz Health Care Center. Freedom was born March 14, 1912, in Marlette, to Emery E. and Helen (Mead) Burget. She graduated from Marlette High School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in 1933 from Alma College. After college, Freedom was hired by Sanders Candy and Confectionery in Detroit as their management trainee. Living in Rochester since 1950, Freedom was with the board of Realtors; also she was an active member of St. Paul Methodist Church and the Howe Military School Mothers Club in Howe, Ind. In her later years, Freedom converted to St. Andrews Catholic Church of Rochester. Recently, she had been a resident of Traverse City. Freedom is survived by her two sons, William P. (C. Lynne) Watson of Traverse City and Maurice T. Watson Jr. of Oklahoma City; a son-in-law, Dale Schuerger; five grandchildren, Scott (Sandy) Watson, Stephanie Rancour, Michelle Watson, William Watson, and Kimberly (Paul) Foley; seven great-grandchildren, Savannah Rancour, Sierra Rancour, Sage Rancour, McKenna Foley, Kellen Foley, Carter Fosmore and Autumn Fosmore. Freedom's husband, Maurice T. Watson Sr., preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Mary Louise Schuerger. Family memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home with Fr. Ed Emenheiser officiating. Private family interment will take place. Memorial donations may be directed to Howe Military School in Howe, Ind., the Alma College Scholarship Fund in Alma, or to the charity of one's choice. Arrangements are being handled by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
