HYSLOP, who died Feb. 8, 2005, will be held Sunday, May 29, 2005, at noon, at the Old Mission Congregational Church. A reception will follow at the Old Mission Legion Hall. MICHAEL M. KNAPIK, 85, of Benzonia, died Friday, May 20, 2005, at his home. A complete obituary will follow in the Record-Eagle. The Benzonia Chapel of McElduff Funeral Home and Cremation Service is handling the arrangements. SAMUEL LEROY LECKRONE, 92, of Copemish, went to be with his eternal Father, on Saturday, May 21, 2005, at Munson Medical Center. Visitation will be held Monday, May 23, 2005, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the Terwilliger Funeral Home in Kaleva. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, May 24, 2005, at 11 a.m., at the Marilla Church of the Brethren, with Pastor Chuck Towersey officiating. CAROL IRENE MAGINITY, 71, of Benzonia, died Friday, May 20, 2005, at West Shore Medical Center in Manistee. Visitation will be held today, May 22, 2005, from 2 to 5 p.m., at the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home in Beulah. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, May 23, 2005, at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home. A full obituary will be in Monday's edition of the Record-Eagle. The Bennett-Barz Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. SANDRA R. WILSON, 50, of Mancelona, died Friday, May 20, 2005, at her home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2005, at 11 a.m., at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes, with visitation one hour prior to the services. Robert Glen Claypool Died May 19, 2005 TRAVERSE CITY - Robert Glen Claypool, 72, of Traverse City, died suddenly Thursday, May 19, 2005, at Munson Medical Center. Bob was born on Aug. 20, 1932, in Traverse City, to Glen R., and Lova (Stover) Claypool. On Dec. 19, 1951, Bob married Isabelle M. Nowak in Traverse City. Bob was in the United States Navy and also in the Army Reserve. He was a member of the Cherryland VFW Post # 2780 and had been a part of the Honor Guard. Bob was a member of the Peninsula Bible Church for ten years. After working for thirty-three years as a certified welder at Stromberg Carlson, Bob retired in 1993. He assisted helping in the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts, and taught hunter safety. Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing, and in his younger years, square dancing. After retirement, Bob drove cars for Bill Marsh Buick part-time. Besides his wife of fifty-four years, Isabelle, Bob is survived by his five children, Richard (Margaret) Claypool of Mesa, Ariz., Donald (Jeannie) Claypool, Robert J. Claypool, Jennifer Dianna (Dana ) Allen and Michael (Betty) Claypool, all of Traverse City; and his sister, Mary Lynn Hoogerhyde of Traverse City. Bob also leaves many grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; and his loving stepfather, William "Grampa Sy" Sybrandt; and his sister, Betty Bendickson. Graveside services will take place Wednesday, May 25, 2005, at 11 a.m., at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Phil Douglas officiating. Memorials may be appreciated to the Cherryland VFW Post #2780 or the American Heart Association. Arrangements are being handled by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Barbara Jean Otto Died December 27, 2004 GLEN ARBOR - Barbara Jean Otto passed away at home surrounded by her family, Monday, Dec. 27, 2004. Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 28, 2005, at 2 p.m., at the St. Philips Episcopal Church in Beulah. Eleanor Purdy Smith Died March 31, 2005 INTERLOCHEN - Eleanor Purdy Smith, 96, of Interlochen, died Thursday, March 31, 2005, in Stuart, Fla. She was born May 6, 1909, in Buckley, the daughter of Dr. Calvin S. and Louise (Earl) Purdy. She married Robert Sequine Smith on May 8, 1937, in Buffalo, N.Y. Eleanor was a retired teacher who taught in Elmira, N.Y. She is survived by many family members who include grandnieces and grandnephews, Dr. and Mrs. (Michele) Fortier of Cape Coral, Fla., and their children, Buck, Beau, Bailey and Blake Fortier; Tracy and George Bowman of Clarkston and their children, Natalie, Nick and Harry Bowman; Jennifer and Mark Johnson of Chicago and their children, Caroline, Ramsey and John Johnson; Jason Smith of Detroit; Cassius M. Smith III of Interlochen and his children, Sara, Nichole and Josh Smith; and numerous other relative and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert S. Smith in 1995; and sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Cassius Smith II. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2005, at 1 p.m., at the Cornell Cemetery in Buckley, with the Rev. Arthur Covell officiating. There will be an open house after the graveside service at the Purdy-Smith home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the CS Purdy Family Alumni Scholarship Fund, c/o Buckley High School or to the Buckley Wayside Chapel. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Covell Funeral Homes of Traverse City. Richard C. Snyder Died May 20, 2005 KINGSLEY - Richard C. Snyder, 78, of Kingsley, died Friday, May 20, 2005, at his residence. Born Oct. 9, 1926, he was the son of Martin and Ada (Frye) Snyder. Richard married Lula McCarry June 25, 1949, at St. Mary's of Hanna Catholic Church in Kingsley. She survives. Richard was employed at Parson's and Cherry Growers. He also owned his own company, a greenhouse and produce company. Along with loving his family, especially his grandchildren, he also loved to hunt and fish. He served in the Cavalry for the United States Army. Richard is survived by his wife, Lula; children, Mrs. Sharie (Gerald) Harpe, Mary (Gary) Harpe and David R. (Vivien) Snyder; brother, Donald (Joann) Snyder; 17 grandchildren, Tonya and Richard Bush, Jason and Ellice Harpe, Jeremy and Jennifer Harpe, Justin and Liz Harpe, Alex and Nicole Harpe, Tammy and David Salinas, Lorrie and Jim Grumblatt, Daniel Harpe, Tracy Harpe, Richard and Mary Jo Harpe, Adam and Sara Harpe, Angela Harpe, Andrew Harpe, Grace Harpe, Lisa and Dr. Clayton Skrzypezak, Nicole and Jeremy Edenburn, and Danielle and Andrew Bott. Mr. Snyder was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Ada Snyder; brother, Gene Snyder; and sisters, Doris A. Snyder and Joanna M. Snyder. Visitation will be Monday, May 23, 2005, from 5 t o 8 p.m., at the Covell-Smith Funeral Home, where the rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. A funeral Mass will be Tuesday, May 24, 2005, at 10 a.m., at St. Mary's of Hanna Catholic Church in Kingsley. Memorial contributions may be made to Mass Intentions or St. Mary' School. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Covell-Smith Funeral Home in Kingsley.
