      NORMA LUCILLE VOGEL GILROY, of Blaine Township, died Thursday, May 26, 2005.
      Visitation will be Monday, May 30, 2005, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Frankfort Chapel of McElduff Funeral Homes. Funeral services will be held at Tuesday, May 31, 2005, at 11 a.m., at the Elberta United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Greg Culver officiating.
      The Frankfort Chapel of McElduff Funeral Homes and Cremation Service is handling the arrangements.
     
      TED F. HARDLEY, 66, of Traverse City, died Wednesday, May 25, 2005, at Munson Hospice House.
      Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a graveside memorial service will take place on Saturday, May 28, 2005, at 2 p.m., at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens, with Pastor Tim Markham officiating.
      Arrangements are by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
     
      MARIAN W. STRAUB, 95, of Traverse City, died Friday, May 20, 2005, at Arbor House, where she had made her home.
      A complete obituary with graveside service information will appear in the Record-Eagle in the near future.

Joseph Edwin Downes
Died May 25, 2005
      TRAVERSE CITY - Joseph Edwin Downes, 84, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, May 25, 2005, in Traverse City.
      He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ila; two sons, Robert (Jeannette) Downes of Traverse City and Michael (Carol) Downes of Clawson; grandchildren, Brian and Erin Downes, and Chloe and Nathan (Nicole) Wildman; one great-granddaughter, Emily Wildman; and several nieces and nephews.
      He was preceded in death by his two brothers, John and Kenneth Downes; sister, Lillian Downes; and daughter, Susan Downes.
      Funeral services will be today, May 28, 2005, at 1 p.m., at the Roth-Gerst Funeral Home, 305 N. Hudson St., Lowell. Visitation will be two hours before the service. Father Tom Page will preside. Interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery in Parnell.
      Memorial contributions may be made to the Audubon Society.
     
Kelly J. (Rice) Hooper
Died May 25, 2005
      TRAVERSE CITY - Kelly Joy Hooper, 25, of Traverse City, died at her home on Wednesday, May 25, 2005.
      She was born in Traverse City on June 11, 1979, the daughter of Leo J. and Marilyn K. (Margetson) Rice. Kelly married Corey Hooper on Nov. 2, 1999, in Traverse City.
      Kelly was a 1998 graduate of Traverse City West. She was the office manager for Compliance Inc. in Traverse City and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elk Rapids.
      She enjoyed fitness, gardening, playing sports, hunting, fishing and mushrooming with her boys.
      Kelly is survived by her husband, Corey M. Hooper, and two sons, Cole and Clayton Hooper, all of Traverse City; parents, Leo and Marilyn Rice of Traverse City; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ted and Terese Hooper of Williamsburg; two sisters, Wendy (Wayne) Humfleet and Leanne Rice, all of Traverse City; sister-in-law, Serena (Scott) Johnson of Honor; maternal grandmother, Lucille Margetson of Traverse City; paternal grandmother, Cecilia Rice of Traverse City; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
      Visitation will be held on Monday, May 30, 2005, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., from the Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City, where a Vigil service will be held and rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. A Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated Tuesday, May 31, 2005, at 10 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 143 Charles St., Elk Rapids, with the Rev. Robert J. Zuchowski serving as celebrant. Burial will take place in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
      Memorial donations may be directed to the Children's Educational Fund.
      Arrangements have been entrusted to the Covell Funeral Homes of Traverse City.
     
Carl Frederick Mallison
Died May 27, 2005
      BEAR LAKE - Carl Frederick Mallison, 62, of Bear Lake, died Friday, May 27, 2005, at West Shore Medical Center in Manistee.
      Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2005, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Edwards-Oak Grove Funeral Home in Bear Lake. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2005, at 10 a.m., at the First Baptist Church of Bear Lake, where Carl will lie in state from 9 a.m. until the time of services. Pastor Al DeCatur will officiate. Burial will follow in Bertelson Cemetery in Onekama.
      Memorials in Carl's name may be directed to the First Baptist Church of Bear Lake. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
      The Edwards-Oak Grove Funeral Home of Bear Lake is serving the family.
     
Nadine B. Travis
Died March 15, 2005
      SPRING HILL, Fla. - Nadine B. Travis, 81, of Spring Hill, Fla., died March 15, 2005.
      She was born in Kansas City, Kan., lived in Detroit for 52 years, retired to Spring Hill, Fla. in 1978, and enjoyed summers in Traverse City.
      Nadine is survived by her husband, Miller A. Travis; sister, Frances Reed of Mt. Clemens; children, Michael Travis, Patricia Fitzgerald and Nancy Beaudet Gokee; and four grandchildren.
      Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2005, at 10:30 a.m., at the Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, 9455 Hilton Road, Brighton, MI.
     
Kathlyn Louise Zobel
Died May 25, 2005
      TRAVERSE CITY - Kathlyn Louise Zobel, 80, a retired bookkeeper of Traverse City, formerly of Grand Rapids, died Wednesday, May 25, 2005, at Munson Hospice House.
      Born Feb. 23, 1925, in Traverse City, she was the daughter of Walter J. and Bertha S. (Glaesmer) Blue. On April 9, 1950, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Traverse City, she married Arno E. Zobel, who preceded her in death on Dec. 9, 1990.
      A long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Dorcas Society, she thoroughly enjoyed the company of her church community. Kathlyn was a very gentle, kind and patient person who will be greatly missed by her loving family and many friends. She enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren, as well as reading and bird watching.
      She is survived by two daughters, Christine L. (Robert T.) Sebastian and Minnetta B. (Gerald A.) Gauthier, all of Traverse City; three grandchildren, Rev Gerald A. (Amy) Gauthier II of Soix Valley, Minn., Michael A. Gauthier and Minnetta K. Gauthier, both of Traverse City; a brother, Walter Blue of Traverse City; and several nieces and nephews.
      Funeral services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Tuesday May 31, 2005, at 2 p.m. The Rev. Chad Hoover will officiate. Friends may call at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home on Monday, May 30, 2005, from 6 to 8 p.m.
      In remembrance of Kathlyn, memorials may be directed to the Dorcas Society of the Trinity Lutheran Church. Envelopes may be obtained at either the funeral home or the church.
