A Service of Remembrance will be held for RUTH CHAMBERLAIN on Sunday, June 5, 2005, at 2 p.m., at the family farm located at 6177 Summit City Road in Kingsley.
LINDA RUTH HOMAN, 51, of Traverse City, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2005, at Munson Hospice House.
Per Linda's wishes, there will be no services. Cremation will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Manistee.
The family has entrusted arrangements to Oak Grove Cremation Center.
EVA R. KITCHEN, 87, of Alba, died Sunday, May 29, 2005, at the Aspen Ridge Retirement Village in Gaylord.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 2, at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
Visitation will take place Wednesday, June 1, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
CHARLES GAYLORD MARKHAM, 86, of Manistee, died Sunday, May 29, 2005, at the Manistee County Medical Care Facility.
A celebration of Charles' life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 4, at the Edwards-Oak Grove Funeral Home in Bear Lake, with Rev. Russell Garrigus officiating. Cremation will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery, Manistee.
The family has entrusted funeral arrangements to Edwards-Oak Grove Funeral Home, Bear Lake.
RONALD MAZURE, 65, of Frankfort, died Saturday, May 28, 2005, at Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at a later date.
The Frankfort Chapel of McElduff Funeral Homes & cremation Service is handling the arrangements.
LILA PEARL STAMM, 64, of Lake City, died Monday, May 30, 2005, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Visitation will take place Wednesday evening, June 1, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Young Funeral Home in Lake City.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 2, at the funeral home, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Montrose Twp. Cemetery.
ADA HENRIETTA STEPHENSON, 84, of Benzonia, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2005, at home.
Per Ada's wishes, there will be no services. Cremation has taken place at Oak Grove Cemetery, Manistee.

Perry 'Loren' Groesser
Died May 27, 2005
ELLSWORTH - Perry "Loren" Groesser, 70, of Ellsworth, passed away quietly at home on Friday, May 27, 2005.
He was born Sept. 1, 1934, in Bingham Township, Leelanau County, the son of Perry and Bertha (Lambert) Groesser. On July 11, 1953, he married Betty Herman, and they made their home in Suttons Bay. They moved to Ellsworth in 1962.
Loren was employed as a truck driver for Howes & Howes & Smith Trucking. Later he worked as a tool and die maker at Willflow in Charlevoix. He was instrumental in starting Little League baseball in Ellsworth.
Surviving is his wife Betty; children, Bonnie (Gary) Hebden of Navarre, Fla., Darlene (Rusty) Bolser of East Jordan, Edward Groesser of Lansing, Cindy Groesser of Ellsworth and Ken (Debbie) Groesser of Ellsworth; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; a sister, Bethel (Clifford) Bye of East Jordan and a brother, Lee (Wanda) Groesser of Lake City.
Friends may call at Hastings Funeral Home in Ellsworth on Wednesday, June 1, from 5 to 7 p.m.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 2, at the Ellsworth Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Chris Wallace officiating. Inurnment will be in Ellsworth Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Northwest Michigan Community Health Agency (NWMCHA) Hospice. The family especially thanks the Hospice nurses for their support and guidance during Loren's final days.

Allers Nicolen
Died May 28, 2005
TRAVERSE CITY - Helen Rose Allers Nicolen, 84, of Traverse City, expired May 28, 2005, at her home after a short battle with cancer.
She was born March 2, 1921, on Beaver Island, to Captain Charles J. Allers and Marie (Bader) Allers. She graduated in 1939 from Traverse City Central High School, having moved here from Cheboygan in 1936.
Helen married Richard L. "Nic" Nicolen on her birthday, March 2, 1944, in her parents' home at 725 E. State St. Nic was a member of the Michigan State Police Department, stationed in Traverse City.
Helen loved people and making new friends. She was a homemaker and enjoyed crafts and gardening.
She and Nic enjoyed spending winters in Gulf Shores, Ala., and were fortunate to do so for 23 years, until his illness in 1994. They loved meeting the natives and making new friends. They were considered godparents to the children of many friends.
Helen was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and served as "Sunshine Chairman" for several years, making the most of the cards.
She was one of the kindest and most caring people to walk this earth. she never wanted to bother or put anyone out, even the staff at Munson Hospital, because they were busy "taking care of sick people." No matter how bad she felt, when asked how she was, the answer was "Fine."
She was preceded in death by her husband, Captain Richard L. "Nic" Nicolen in 1994, after a short illness with cancer; her parents, Capt. Charles J. Allers in 1966, and Marie (Bader) Allers in 1973; and three brothers-in-law, Rheo Nicolen, Clifford Nicolen and "Jack" Stahl.
She is survived by two children, Richard J. Nicolen and Lynne M. Nicolen, both of Traverse City; a brother, Charles N. (Vicky) Allers of Traverse City; a sister, C. Leone Stahl of Shelby, N.C.; two step-sons, Ron R. (Nancy Mullett) Nicolen of St. James City, Fla., and Don (Theresa) Nicolen of Montpelier, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Ethel Nicolen of Greybull, Wy.; two granddaughters, Tamara Nicolen (Kevin) Sylvester of Grand Haven and Tanya Nicolen (Curt) Young of Hudsonville; a great-granddaughter, Madison Sylvester of Grand Haven; several nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and step-great and -great-great-grandchildren in Wyoming, Colorado, North Carolina Ohio and Florida.
There will be an Eastern Star Memorial at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 2, at the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes, under the auspices of the Traverse Bay Area Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 147.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Traverse Bay Area Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 147, the Masonic Lodge, or Munson Hospice of Traverse City.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes.
