HAROLD JACK AUTEN, 68, of Bear Lake, died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005, at his home.
Cremation will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Manistee. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at Fairview Cemetery in Bear Lake.
The Edwards-Oak Grove Funeral Home of Bear Lake is serving the family.
CATHY J. KEEDY, 52, of Traverse City, died unexpectedly Monday, Oct. 3, 2005, at Munson Medical Center.
Arrangements are pending and will be announced by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
ROBERT H. SMITH, 67, formerly of Lansing and Houghton Lake, died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005, in Traverse City.
Cremation has taken place.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes.
Sylvia Mae
Conroy Boyd
Died September 30, 2005
TRAVERSE CITY - Sylvia Mae Conroy Boyd of Traverse City died September 30, 2005.
She was born May 6, 1920, in Lake Leelanau, to George and Amelia (Bussy) Denoyer. She married Julius Boyd in September 1965 in Gaylord.
Sylvia was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church. Previously, she was a member of the St. Mary's Lake Leelanau Women's Quilt Club. As a club member, she made quilts for church fundraisers. She also enjoyed crocheting, playing cards with friends, bingo, crossword puzzles, camping and traveling. In her younger years, Sylvia also worked several years at the T.C. Canning Factory.
Sylvia's greatest joy in life was raising her children and spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are nine children, three sons, Kenneth Conroy of Traverse City, Rick (Sally) Boyd of Traverse City and Larry (Emi) Conroy of Rockford; six daughters, Donna (Greg) Stroh of Traverse City, Mary Conroy of Traverse City, Sharon Littke of St. Joseph, Patty (George) Bonnell of Interlochen, Cindy (Wayne) Mann of Pennsylvania and Debra (George) Eden of Montana; 22 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; special friends, Margaret, Katie Griffin, and her friends at Bortz.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Patrick Conroy; and husband, Julius, in August 1986; four children, Doris Terry, George Conroy, Eva Conroy and Ronald Conroy; and three brothers, Wilfred, Albert and Emil Denoyer.
Sylvia always put God first in her life, and had a special affinity for the Blessed Mother. She has now gone home to be with her loving Father.
Visitation will take place Wednesday, Oct. 5, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., with a wake at 7:30 p.m., at the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Traverse City, with Fr. Eke officiating.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes.
Junior H. Darrow
Died October 1, 2005
BINGHAM TWP. - Junior Harding Darrow, 88, of Bingham Township, died at home Saturday, Oct. 1, 2005, in the loving care of his family.
He was born Sept. 15, 1917, in Grand Rapids, the son of Lynn and Maude (Elliott) Darrow. In 1947, he married the former Sophia Priest in Muskegon; she preceded him in death in 1993.
Junior was a hard working, lifelong electrician. He spent many days on the road going from job site to job site. During his leisure time, he was an avid outdoorsman and loved to fish in the area.
He is survived by his step-daughter, Shirley Pike of Suttons Bay; a brother, Robert (Marion) Darrow of Holland; a sister, Betty (Ernie) Stel of Muskegon; 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Junior was preceded in death by his wife, Sophia; two step-children, Doris Darrow and LaVern Fehrenback; and a brother, Floyd Darrow.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at Maple Grove Cemetery in Keswick.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Suttons Bay/Bingham Township Fire and Rescue or to Munson Hospice House.
Arrangements are with the Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay.
Thomas Jenkins
Died September 29, 2005
DELAND, Fla. - Mr. Thomas Jenkins, 86, of DeLand, Fla., formerly of Inverness, Fla., died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005. He was born in Detroit.
Mr. Jenkins was an automobile mechanic for Ford Motor Company. He was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in DeLand. He was also a member of the Shrine Club, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars in Michigan. He enjoyed playing poker and bowling.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Juanita Jenkins of DeLand; sons, Fred Jenkins of Cota de Casa, Calif., Jim Jenkins of Beverly Hills, Mich., Mike Jenkins of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., Tom Jenkins of San Juan Capistrano, Calif., and Jerry Jenkins of Traverse City; a daughter, Diane Crook of Tampa, Fla.; and 16 grandchildren.
Services were held Monday, Oct. 3, at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Deltona, Fla., with Fr. Alvaro Jimenez officiating.

The Allen Summerhill Funeral Home of DeLand, Fla., was in charge of funeral arrangements.
Ann Rivas
Died October 1, 2005
TRAVERSE CITY - Ann Rivas, 85, of Traverse City, passed away Saturday, Oct. 1, 2005, at her home.
She was born Nov. 22, 1919, to Sam and Xsenia (Trabulis) Timoshoin in Donora, Pa. On Aug. 3, 1938, she married Constantine D. Rivas.
Ann is survived by her sons, C. George Rivas of East Pointe and Ramon Rivas of Traverse City; sisters, Mary Paulik of Florida and Martha Williams of Pennsylvania; and a grandson, Jason Christopher Rivas.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Visitation will take place this evening, Tuesday, Oct. 4, from 5 to 8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary, at the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, at the funeral home, with Fr. James Hayden officiating.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes.
