Obituaries

      ROBERT "CHRIS" TOWNSEND, 47, of Suttons Bay, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005.
      A memorial mass will be held Saturday, Oct. 8, at 10 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
      Rev. Father James Hayden and Rev. Mike Verschaeve will be presiding.
      Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at 9 a.m.
      The family is being serviced by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.

      WILLIAM HAROLD HOLMES, 52, of Traverse City, died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005, at his home in Blair Township
      Visitation will be 1 to 3 p.m., Friday, Oct. 7, at the Benzonia Chapel of McElduff-Jowett Funeral Home. Services are at 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
      Contributions can be made to the family.
      The Benzonia Chapel of the McElduff-Jowett Funeral Home & Cremation Service are handling the arrangements.
     
Donald L. "Josh" Rawlings
Died October 6, 2005
      FARGO N.D. - Donald L. "Josh" Rawlings, 73, of Fargo N.D., died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2005, at Fargo MeritCare. Josh was born in Kingsley, June 4, 1932, the son of Gerald and Elizabeth (Cox) Rawlings.
      Josh grew up in Kingsley and attended Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City and General Motors Technical School in Flint. He married Barbara Reamer in Bendeon on July 16, 1950 and worked for General Motors for 12 years. In 1965, they moved to Fargo where Josh started working for Park Realty and later bought Allied Realty, which Josh operated up until his death. Josh enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing and golf. He had a terrific sense of humor and was a loving, caring husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was a loyal, trusted friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
      He was preceded in death by three children; Jon and Gerald "Sam" Rawlings, and Karel Paul.
      Josh is survived by his wife, Barbara, of Fargo, N.D.; two daughters, Beth (David) Rogness, and Linda Torson, both of Fargo, N.D.; his son-in-law, Joseph Paul, of West Fargo, N.D.; three brothers, Jack (Donna) Rawlings, Frank (Doris) Rawlings, both of Kingsley, and James (Judy) Rawlings, of Buckley; two sisters, Jean (Ron) Lewis, of Kingsley, and Karen (Richard) King, of Reed City; eight grandchildren, Chad, Nic, and Katie Quamme, Kate and Emily Rogness, Alex and Molly Torson, and Samantha Paul.
      A visitation will take place Friday, Oct. 7, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home in Fargo N.D. A prayer service will be held Friday, Oct. 7, at 7 p.m., at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home
      Funeral services will take place Saturday, Oct. 8, at 10 a.m., at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fargo N.D. A burial will follow at the Riverside Cemetery in Fargo N.D.

Evelyn A. Schroeder Barnes
Died October 5, 2005
      TRAVERSE CITY - Evelyn A. Schroeder Barnes, 87, of Traverse City, died Wednesday, October 5, 2005, at Grand Traverse Pavilions. Evelyn was born on May 3, 1918, in Homestead Township, the daughter of Herbert and Pearl (Baxter) Carpenter.
      Evelyn was a seamstress, working many years for Modern Cleaners. She enjoyed ceramics, crocheting, knitting, bass fishing and bowling, and loved being with her family very much. Evelyn was a member of the Grawn United Methodist Church and auxiliary member of the V.F.W.
      Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Walter Schroeder and Al Barnes; and three grandchildren.
      Evelyn is survived by her six children, Benjamin (Jeanette) Carpenter of Rocky Mount, N.C., Joan Smith of Flushing, Sharon (Dale) Neumann of Traverse City, Walter (Dawn) Schroeder of Traverse City, Sue Ann Schroeder of Traverse City, and Wendy (Rob) Hubbell of Traverse City. She leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
      A visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 7, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
      A funeral service will be held Saturday, Oct. 8, at 2 p.m., at Lake Ann United Methodist Church with Rev. Marvin Rosa officiating. Burial will follow at Inland Township Cemetery.
      Memorial donations may be directed to the Grand Traverse Pavilions.
