      Visitation for MR. ANDREW E. "TONY" FUKSA of Fruitport will be today, Sept. 11, 2005, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Clock Funeral Home in Muskegon. Services will be held Monday, Sept. 12, at 11 a.m., at the Clock Chapel, with the Rev. Ben Jansen officiating.

      STEVEN JACOB HELSEL, 20, of Grayling, died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005.
      Visitation will be today, Sept. 11, 2005, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home. Services will be Monday, Sept. 12, 2005, at 1 p.m., also at the funeral home.
      Arrangements are by the Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home of Grayling.

      DOROTHY E. MADISON, 86, of Petoskey, died Saturday, Sept. 10, 2005, at Bortz Health Care in Petoskey.
      Graveside services will be held at Grandlawn Cemetery in Detroit.
      Arrangements are being handled by the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.

      SYLVAN L. MIKELSON, 90, of Suttons Bay, died Saturday, Sept. 10, 2005, at his home.
      A funeral service will be held Thursday, Sept. 15, at 2 p.m., at the Suttons Bay Congregational Church. A full obituary will be in Monday's edition of the Record-Eagle.
      Arrangements are with the Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay.

      CONSTANCE "CONNIE" M. SNIDER, 86, of Bradenton, Fla., and Charlevoix, died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law.
      A memorial graveside service will be held Friday, Sept. 23, 2005, at 11 a.m., at the Brookside Cemetery in Charlevoix, with the Rev. Nancy Rohde officiating. An Order of the Eastern Star memorial service will be conducted under the auspices of the OES Chapter #72 of Charlevoix.
      Arrangements are by the Winchester Funeral Home of Charlevoix.

      MARGARET "PEGGY" TOMASZEWSKI, 77, of Manistee, died Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005.
      Visitation will be Monday, Sept. 12, 2005, from noon until the time of service at 2 p.m., at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Manistee.
      Arrangements are by the Johnson Funeral Home in Manistee.

      ROSS P. THOMPSON, 80, of Grayling, died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005.
      A memorial service will be held Friday, Sept. 16, 2005, at 1 p.m., at the American Legion Post 106.
      Arrangements are by the Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home of Grayling.

Lila E. Kline-Baldwin
Died August 30, 2005
      HOLT - Lila E. Kline-Baldwin, of Holt, passed away quietly on Monday, Aug. 30, 2005, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
      She was born Nov. 27, 1921, in Detroit, the daughter of Charles and Pearl (Chesney) Larson. She moved to Holt with her parents as a child, and remained in Holt for many years before moving to northern Michigan.
      Lila was a long-time business owner of the D & O Motel in Holt. She remained in the motel industry for many years and was a member of the Michigan Motel and Hotel Association.
      She was a very active volunteer with the American Cancer Society for 30 years and received the highest award as a volunteer by then Governor W. Milliken.
      Her parents; sister, Helen Cook; and her brothers, Ron and Dick Larson preceded her in death.
      She is survived by her sons, Van (Phyllis) Long, Richard (Janice) Long, Don Long; daughter, Mari Long; three sisters, Midge Holly, Jean Anderson and Pat Currin; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her life-long friend, Lou Horn of Jackson.
      Memorial services will be held Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005, at 1:00 p.m., at the Holt United Methodist Church, 2321 N. Aurelius Rd., with the Rev. Lynn E. Grimes officiating.
      Because Lila was a lifetime member of the Holt United Methodist Church, the family is asking that in lieu of flowers, those wishing to make contributions in her memory to please contribute to the Holt United Methodist Church Samaritan Fund, PO Box 168, Holt, MI 48842, a fund originally created for the needy by Lila's mother, Pearl.
     
Gaylend R. Gordon
Died September 9, 2005
      CENTRAL LAKE - Gaylend R. Gordon, 88, of Central Lake, died Friday, Sept. 9, 2005, at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility in Bellaire.
      Gay was born Nov. 2, 1916, in Rockford, the son of Fredrick and Genevieve (Reynolds) Gordon.
      He owned and operated Gordon's Garage in Central Lake for 30 years, retiring in 1978. He continued working for Shooks Brothers Farm and the Torch Ridge Farm doing mechanical work and general repair.
      He enlisted in the United States Army during World War II and served in several overseas campaigns.
      Gay was a life member of the Torch Post VFW #6985, and was also a charter member of the Central Lake Lions Club. He also served many years on the Central Lake Volunteer Fire Department.
      On Sept. 25, 1948, in Central Lake, he married Vera J. Patton, who survives. Also surviving are two children, Chuck (Joyce) Gordon and Connie (Tom) Kiessel, all of Central Lake; two sisters, Martha Lang of Cedar Springs and Bette (Robert) Meads of Tecumseh; two granddaughters, Jill (Jamie) Carlington and Dorrie Gordon, both of Westland; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
      He was preceded in death by five brothers, Lyle, Gilbert, Vincent, Glenn and Gerald; and one sister, Murriel Novak-Sawyer.
      The family will receive friends today, Sept. 11, 2005, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 12, 2005, at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Scott officiating. Interment will follow with military honors in Southern Cemetery in Central Lake Township.
      Memorial contributions may be made to the Northwest Michigan Hospice.

Oral William Hoopfer
Died September 6, 2005
      FRANKFORT - Oral William Hoopfer, 92, of Frankfort, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005, at Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital.
      Oral was born Jan. 11, 1913, in Milton Township in Antrim County, the son of the late William and Mabel Hoopfer. Oral married Lois White on May 12, 1937, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 14, 2001.
      His entire career was with the USDA Farmers Home Administration, working in Benzie and the surrounding counties.
      Oral was a member of the Frankfort United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Oral and Lois enjoyed traveling, and Oral was a lifelong Frankfort resident, spending summers at Lake Ann.
      Surviving are brothers, Glenn and Ivan; and sisters, Phyllis David and Wilma Zapun. He will be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews.
      Oral was also preceded in death by his sister, Helen Larsen; and brothers, Kenneth and Lloyd.
      Visitation will be Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2005, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Frankfort Chapel of McElduff-Jowett Funeral Home. Oral's funeral service will be held Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005, at 11 a.m., at the Frankfort United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Greg Culver officiating. Burial will be in the Gilmore Township Cemetery.
      Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
      The Frankfort Chapel of McElduff-Jowett Funeral Homes and Cremation Service is handling the arrangements.

      H. Andrew "Andy" Moquin II
Died September 9, 2005
      TRAVERSE CITY - Andy, a well-loved Traverse City electrician for 25 years, fisherman and hockey player, left us too soon on Friday, Sept. 9, 2005.
      Born Aug. 10, 1959, in Dearborn, Andy is survived by his son, Paul; Paul's mother, Jenny Moquin; seven sisters and brothers; and many friends.
      Visitation will take place at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home on Monday, Sept. 12, from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will take place Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 10 a.m., also at the funeral home, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Robert Zagore will officiate.
      Memorial contributions in Andy's name may be directed to the Michigan Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 21311 Civic Center Dr., Southfield, MI 48076-3911.

Mark F. Sharrow
Died August 21, 2005
      ALGONAC - Mark F. Sharrow, 50, of Algonac, former resident of Traverse City, died in his home Aug. 21, 2005. He was born Feb. 23, 1955, in St. Clair.
      Mark was a Registered Nurse who worked in the intensive care unit at Munson Medical Center from 1987 until 1997. He cared deeply about his patients and fellow co-workers.
      He is survived by his sons, of whom he was very proud, Luke, Joseph and Frank Sharrow. He is also survived by their mother, Patricia A. Sharrow of Traverse City; parents, Ed and Patricia Sharrow of Algonac; brothers, Steve, Michael (Pamela) and James; sisters, Suzanne Driscoll, Diane (Richard) Clarizio and Laura (Thomas) Bianchi.
      Cremation has taken place and Mark was laid to rest on Aug. 24, 2005, in St. Catherine's Cemetery in Algonac.
      An educational fund has been established for Mark's sons. Contributions can be made to the Mark Sharrow Memorial Fund at Fifth Third Bank.

RC Harry VanBrocklin
Died September 8, 2005
      FRANKFORT - RC Harry VanBrocklin, 43, of Frankfort, died Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005, at his home. He was born Nov. 27, 1961, the son of Robert and Marlene VanBrocklin.
      RC was an avid deer hunter and looked forward to being in the woods every year. He enjoyed working on his cars in his pole barn. RC had a very kind heart, adopting any animal that needed a home. He was the kind of guy who would extend a helping hand to his friends and had a kind word for everyone. RC adored his kids and loved spoiling them.
      Surviving are his children, Ryan, Kenna and Wesley VanBrocklin; sisters, Bobbi Jo and Rick Fast of Honor and Lisa and David Royal of Norway; grandmother, Ida Mix of Frankfort; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
      A memorial service will be held Monday, Sept. 12, 2005, at 1 p.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Frankfort, with the Rev. Rick Stieve officiating. The family will receive friends from noon until the time of the service. Interment will be in Crystal Lake Cemetery, North.
      Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society, Trinity Lutheran Church or Munson Hospice.
