KENNETH K. BOSWORTH, 76, of Rapid City, died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005, at the Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility.
A funeral service will be held Monday, Sept. 26, 2005, at 11 a.m., at the Wolfe Funeral Home, where visitation will take place from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Elk Rapids.
Arrangements are by the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska.
ELAINE MAE CLUFF, 47, of Traverse City, died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005, at Munson Hospice House.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Oct. 1, 2005, at 11 a.m., at the First Christian Church, with Pastor Evan Williams officiating. A complete obituary will appear in Sunday's edition of the Record-Eagle.
Arrangements are being handled by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
JOHN G. DAYHUFF, 78, of Onekama, died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005, at the Manistee County Medical Care Facility.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no services.
Arrangements are by the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee.
A.L. MILLER, 87, of Aurora, Wis., formerly of Kalkaska, died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Sept. 26, 2005, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Wolfe Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 1 p.m., also at the funeral home, where visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the Antioch Cemetery in Wexford County.

LYN M. MOREY-GOLDNER, 76, of Traverse City, died Thursday evening, Sept. 22, 2005, at Munson Medical Center.
Memorial services will be held later this fall.

KAREN "KITTY" NEWMAN, 62, of Benzonia Township, died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005, at Munson Medical Center.
A memorial Mass will be held today, Sept. 24, 2005, at 10 a.m., at the Frankfort United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ray Cotter officiating. Interment will be in Crystal Lake Cemetery, North.
The Frankfort Chapel of McElduff-Jowett Funeral Homes and Cremation Service is handling the arrangements.
BRYAN LEE SUPERCZYNSKI, 50, of Manistee, died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005, at Munson Medical Center.
Visitation will be at the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2005, at 9:30 a.m. until the time procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee, where Mass From the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will immediately follow the funeral Mass in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Manistee.
Arrangements are by the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee.
HELEN JANE TANNER, 82, of Traverse City, died on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005, at Bortz Health Care Facility.
Per Helen's wishes, there will be no services and cremation will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Manistee.
The Edwards-Oak Grove Funeral Home of Bear Lake is in charge of funeral arrangements.
Christina Ruth Cornett
Died September 21, 2005
TRAVERSE CITY - Christina Ruth (Brock) Cornett, 84, went to be with her Lord on Sept. 21, 2005, at the Grand Traverse Pavilions.
Chris was born in April of 1921 to Nick and Emma (Veenstra) Brock in Dutchtown. In 1941 she married Wendell E. Cornett, who preceded her in death in 1994.
Chris attended college at County Normal and then taught elementary school in Atwood, Norwood, and Gunten. She later went on to Michigan State University and received her master's and doctorate degrees in education, teaching at Glenn Loomis School until her retirement in 1981.
In earlier years Chris worked at the A & P Store and NBT Bank in Traverse City, where she did the books. Chris also worked at Glados Candy Store in Traverse City.
Chris's favorite color was blue. She had many hobbies and interests, which included golf, square dancing, tennis, bridge, water skiing, reading and crocheting afghans.
Chris is survived by a son, Calvin Cornett; a brother, Nathan J. (Betty) Brock of Williamsburg; special nephews, David J. (Jenifer) Brock of Grand Haven and Jack (Carole) Townsend of Lake Fenton; a nephew, Kim Choals, and a niece, Terry Fiorenzo, both of Grand Rapids; and four grandsons, Cody, Aaron, Briar and Dillon, all of Traverse City.
Chris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wendell; and a sister, Martha Choals of Grand Rapids.
Visitation will be held Monday, Sept. 26, 2005, from 10 to 11 a.m., at Faith Reformed Church, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m., with Pastor Peter Semeyn officiating.
Memorial donations may be directed to the Faith Reformed Church, the Father Fred Foundation or to the charity of one's choice.
Arrangements are being handled by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
Noel Jean Galla
Died September 23, 2005
CEDAR - Noel Jean Galla, 64, of Cedar, died Friday, Sept. 23, 2005, at Munson Medical Center, from injuries sustained in a car accident.
Jean was born in Flint on June 17, 1941, to Josephine Rae (Dick) and Adam Mazurek. She married Paul P. Galla on Aug. 29, 1959, in Cedar. He preceded her in death on March 27, 1997.
Jean was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, and over the years was a foster parent for about 20 children.
Survivors include her sister, Gerri Ann (Frank) Brzezinski; brothers, Gary P. (Cheryl) Mazurek and Barry P. (Barbara) Mazurek, all of Cedar; foster daughter, Mary Britton of Traverse City; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to her husband, Jean was preceded in death by her parents; and daughter, Dawn Galla, who died Feb. 10, 2004.
Visitation will take place Monday, Sept. 26, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Cedar, with the rosary being prayed at 7 p.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 11 a.m., also at the church. Burial will take place in Mt. Calvary Cemetery following cremation.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Leelanau County Commission on Aging or the Cedar Fire and Rescue.

Kari Marlene Hunt
Died September 22, 2005
TRAVERSE CITY - Kari Marlene Hunt, 17, of Traverse City, died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005. Her journey through life was cut tragically short as the result of an automobile accident.
Kari was born in Traverse City Nov. 4, 1987, the daughter of Rena Marlene (Shugart) and John Fraser and Steven Lee Hunt.
Kari was a senior at Suttons Bay High School, and was also attending the TBA Career Tech Center, studying office management and web design.
She enjoyed playing volleyball and softball and also had been a cheerleader.
When Kari learned that she was expecting her daughter, Haily, her main focus was to care for her daughter and finish her schooling. Her ambition to continue being a student and a wonderful mother to Haily was very evident in her life.
Kari had a love of music and she especially enjoyed the beauty of a sunset, often using her hobby of photography to capture them on film. Her family and friends remember her as always seeing the good in a person and having a big heart, free spirit and non-judgmental attitude toward others. She was a friend to everyone at school, was an avid listener and counselor to her many friends, and was "always there."
Kari enjoyed working at the Covered Wagon Farm Market for the last three summers and enjoyed learning to bake there. Kari will always be remembered for making the best no bake cookies around.
Surviving Kari are her daughter, Haily Elizabeth McDougle; mother and stepfather, Rena and John Fraser; father, Steven Hunt; sisters, Laura (Jason) Torrey, Shelly (Dan) Stanton and Stephanie Hunt, all of Traverse City; niece, Alayna and nephew, Justin; grandmother, Luella Howell of Traverse City; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Also surviving Kari is her very special friend, Haily's father, Wesley McDougle of Traverse City.
Visitation will take place Sunday, Sept. 25, 2005, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 26, also at the funeral home, with Pastor Carey Waldie officiating. Burial will be in Bingham Township Cemetery.

Gregory Scott Olney
Died September 20, 2005
COLOMA - Gregory Scott Olney, 48, of Coloma, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2005, at Munson Medical Center. He was born Dec. 19, 1956, in Frankfort, the son Donald and Donna (Goin) Olney.
Gregg was a graduate of Benzie Central Schools, where he excelled in sports, especially track and basketball. Among his awards and honors, he received All-State honors for basketball during his senior year. Gregg earned his bachelor's degree from Ferris State University.
He had been employed in sales and marketing by Union Camp Packaging Corporation of Kalamazoo, Menasha Packaging Corporation of Coloma and Packaging Corporation of Grand Rapids. His later business interest was in rental properties.
In his spare time, Gregg loved being outdoors, boating, fishing, playing golf and spending time with family.
Gregg is survived by his parents, Donald and Donna Olney of Beulah; sister, Shelley (Robert) Rosa of Beulah; brother, Jeffrey (Dawn) Olney of Beulah; nephews, Matthew and Brian Rosa of Beulah; nieces, Nicole and Jennifer Olney of Beulah; long time friend, Cheryl VanDrasek of Coloma; paternal grandmother, Doris Olney of Frankfort; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Gregg was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Max and Beatrice Goin; and his paternal grandfather, Leon Olney.
Memorial services will be held Friday, Sept. 30, 2005, at 2 p.m., at the First Congregational Church, U.C.C. in Benzonia, with the Rev. Stephen J. Davidson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until time of services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ransom Lake Memorial in memory of Gregory S. Olney, in the care of Almira Township, 7276 Sweet Lake Road, Lake Ann, Michigan, 49650.

Donald J. Patton
Died September 20, 2005
KALKASKA - Donald J. Patton, 71, of Kalkaska, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2005, at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center-Long Term Care. He was born Sept. 10, 1934, in Detroit.
Don married Reen Reynolds on Oct. 4, 1955, in Dearborn. They were residents of Kalkaska since 1968, moving from Dearborn.
He retired from the Teamsters in Detroit in 1998, after 30 years of service. Don was employed by the Turtle Creek Casino for the past 3½ years.
He enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing and the "great outdoors."
Survivors include Reen Patton, his wife of 50 years; children, Debbie (Gene) Scibilia of White Lake, Donna Patton and Donald (Jenny) Patton, both of Kalkaska; grandchildren, Paul II, John, Jennelle, Jamie and Gina; and great-grandson, Paul III.
Services will be Thursday, Sept. 22, at 7 p.m., at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska, where visitation will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Pastor Walter R. Skrine Sr. of the Kalkaska Baptist Church will be officiating.
Arrangements were made by the Wolfe Funeral Home.
Betty S. Raschi
Died September 19, 2005
TRAVERSE CITY - Betty S. Raschi, 81, of Traverse City, passed away Monday, Sept. 19, 2005, at Munson Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 19, 1923, in Traverse City, to Harland and Esther (Murray) Martin. Betty married Albert L. Raschi Sr. on Nov. 2, 1943, in Traverse City.
Betty's favorite pass-time was reading and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her son, Albert L. Jr. of Traverse City; daughters, Betty (Thomas) Schlickman of Grand Rapids and Mary (John) Reibold of Brandon, Wis.; daughter-in-law, Jessica (Richard) Raschi Stiner of Kingsley; grandchildren, John (Stephanie) Schlickman, Mark Schlickman, Charles (Erin) Raschi, Chad (Amy) Raschi, Craig Raschi (Erin), Courtney Raschi (Brandon); and great-grandchildren, Hannah Raschi, Abby, Mariah Lynn Hartley, and Anthony and Marilyn Carlton.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Albert L. Raschi Sr.; and her son, Anthony in 1988.
A private memorial service has been planned for the family.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Covell-Smith Funeral Home of Kingsley.
Gregory Joseph Sawmick
Died September 22, 2005
SUTTONS BAY - Gregory Joseph Sawmick, 49, of Suttons Bay, died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005, at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor.
Gregory was born Wednesday, Nov. 2, 1955, in Traverse City, the son of George A. and Elsie (Wasaqum) Sawmick.
He was a resident of Suttons Bay for nine years and worked as a laborer for Spectrum.
Gregory is survived by his soul mate, Robin Raphael; children, Christina (Charles) Benz, Gregory (Patty) Sawmick, Amanda (Chris) Sawmick, Summer Raphael, Rick Raphael, Mike Raphael, Andrew "Bear" (Valerie) Raphael and Simone Raphael; many, many grandchildren; brothers, Ralph (Kathy) Sawmick, Daniel (Margo) Sawmick, Samson (Helga) Sawmick, Jeremy (Shawn) Sawmick and Zachary Sawmick; sisters, Yvonne (Bruce) Dyer, Gladys Sawmick and Michelle (Jose) Pema; aunt, Dorothy Netmop; and former wife, Christine Wilson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Elsie Sawmick; a sister, Ramona Rodriguiez; niece, Alexandria Sawmick; and grandson, Charles Henry Benz III.
Friends may gather with the family at the Chippewa United Methodist Church today, Sept. 24, 2005, beginning at 4 p.m., with a Wake Service at 7 p.m., and again on Sunday, beginning at 4 p.m., with a Wake Service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 26, 2005, at 1 p.m., at the Chippewa Indian United Methodist Church Tabernacle, with the Rev. Owen White-Pigeon and the Rev. Joseph Sprague officiating. Interment will follow the funeral service at the Denver Township Cemetery.
