Arrangements are pending at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. RUTH S. LAUBACH, 98, of Traverse City, died Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 28, 2005, at Munson Medical Center. Arrangements are pending and a full obituary will be in Saturday's edition of the Record-Eagle. The family is being served by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. ORPHA TAYLOR, 77, of Traverse City, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, at Munson Medical Center. Visitation will be held Monday, Oct. 3, 2005, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., with a rosary to be prayed at 7:30 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005, at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service, at St. Francis Catholic Church. A complete obituary will be in Saturday's edition of the Record-Eagle. JEANETTE M. VEINE, 58, of East Lake, passed away peacefully Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, at home. The family will receive friends Saturday, Oct. 1, 2005, from 9 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11 a.m., at the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements are by the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee. Genevieve Frances Clark Died September 25, 2005 TRAVERSE CITY - Genevieve F. Clark, 101, died in peace on Sunday, Sept. 25, 2005, at Munson Hospice House. She was born in Newark, N.J., on Nov. 9, 1903. Genevieve married Oswald Vincent Clark Sr. in 1926, and lived in Montclair, N.J. After the passing of her husband in 1950, Genevieve was employed by the Schering Corporation until her retirement in 1968. She moved to Traverse City in 1989 to be closer to her family. Genevieve is survived by her son, Oswald Vincent Clark Jr. and his wife, Beatrice Ann (Schenk) Clark; as well as eight grandchildren, Anne (Glenn) Sanders, Julie (Ed) Risak, Stephen Clark, Karen Clark, Sherry (Carl) Stahl, Peter Clark, Patricia (Mitch) Hormel and Paul Clark; thirteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oswald; and two grandsons, Timothy John Clark and Thomas Oswald Clark. Genevieve will be cremated and her cremains will be buried next to her husband and her mother in Montclair, N.J. A memorial Mass will be celebrated for Genevieve on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2005, at 10 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Church. All prayers are appreciated. She will be greatly missed by friends and family. Memorial contributions can be directed to the Munson Hospice House or the Father Fred Foundation. The family is being served by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Mildred J. Davey Died September 26, 2005 ELK RAPIDS - Mildred J. Davey, 94, of Elk Rapids, died Monday, Sept. 26, 2005, at Bortz Health Care. Mildred was the daughter of Frederick Samuel and Mary Salley (Evans) Clarke, born April 4, 1911, in Carson City. Graduating from Elk Rapids Schools, she started and volunteered at what is now Chain-of Lakes Co-op Nursery. She was a Girl Scout Leader and member of Elk Rapids Rebekah Lodge for many years. Mildred also participated in the Antrim County Home Extension and volunteered as coordinator for the beginning of the Senior Meals Program before it became a part of the Antrim County Commission on Aging. She remained active in the program until May 2005. She also remained as active in the community as her health would allow. She enjoyed her extended family. She also enjoyed crafts, knitting and baking, along with horse back riding. Survivors include Mary E. (Maribeth) Wescott of Elk Rapids, Harold Eugene (Christine) Davey of Sumner, Wash., Ann (Gerard) Harig of Beulah; brother, Dr. C. Fred Clarke of Norco, Calif.; seven grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 24 step great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mildred married Harold H. Davey on Nov. 18, 1934, in Elk Rapids. He preceded her in death. Visitation will be Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Covell Funeral Home in Elk Rapids. Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 3, 2005, at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home, with Pastors David Mellor and Renee' MacLeod officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church or the Antrim County Commission on Aging in Bellaire. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Covell Funeral Home in Elk Rapids. Lyn Morey-Goldner Died September 22, 2005 TRAVERSE CITY - Lyn M. Morey-Goldner, 76, a resident of Traverse City since 1952, died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005, at Munson Medical Center. Lyn was born in Lansing on Aug. 27, 1929, the daughter of Roy E. Delia (Byron) Goldner. She graduated from Sexton High School in Lansing, attended Grand Rapids Junior College, and had three years of nurses training at Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids. Lyn was a pediatrics nurse at Munson Hospital. Lyn had a long-time involvement with the First Congregational Church, had been involved with the Grand Traverse Emmaus Community, as well as having a long-time affiliation with the Christian Women's Club. She was also active in the seniors fitness class at NMC. Lyn is survived by her three daughters, Kristen (Don) Williams of Grand Rapids, Kathy (Eric) Guttenberg of Traverse City and Kim Dalimonte of Okemos; son, Mike (Brenda) Morey of Grawn; brother, L. Stanford (Maurine) Goldner of Flushing; eleven grandchildren, Larry and Leann Dalimonte, Jennifer and Laura Guttenberg, Ronda and Ryan Martin, Amanda and Alexa Morey, Nick Williams, Michelle (Juan) Perez and James (Helen) Williams; and five great-grandchildren, Christian and Kennedy Williams, and Sierra, Natalie and Ryleigh Perez. Lyn was preceded in death by her parents, Roy E. and Delia Goldner; brother, Ed Goldner; and a granddaughter, Amanda Williams, who died in infancy. Memorial services will be held at the First Congregational Church on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2005, at 1:30 p.m., with the Rev. Gary Hogue officiating. Burial of Lyn's cremains will be in the Church Garden of Remembrance. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church or the American Red Cross. Arrangements are by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. L. Fern Steele Died September 26, 2005 MIDLAND - Laura "Fern" Steele, 91, died Sept. 26, 2005, in Midland. Her parents were James G. Strahan and Betsy (Crocker) Strahan. Fern was born in Fife Lake on Sept. 23, 1914. She graduated from the Fife Lake High School in 1932. She married Earl Francis Hackman, of Kingsley on June 10, 1944. The couple moved to Detroit, where Fern worked for the Michigan Unemployment Compensation Commission until the birth of their son Richard, in 1950. She was widowed in 1976. She worked as the secretary for the St. Matthew's United Methodist Church and also the Redford United Methodist Church in Detroit until her marriage to Kenneth L. Steele, of Fife Lake, on July 21, 1983. She spent the remaining years of her life in Fife Lake and Lecanto, Fla. Fern had been a resident of Brittany Manor Nursing Home in Midland since November 2004. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, who died Oct. 5, 2004; her parents; her first husband; her sister and brother-in-law, Nita (Frank) Wilson; and her brother and sister-in-law, William (Gladys) Strahan. She leaves to mourn her death her son, Richard (Julie) Hackman; stepchildren, Gordon (Janice) Steele, Sandra (Serge) Mann, Carol (Wayne) Bancroft; her granddaughters, Kathryn and Jennifer Hackman; step-grandchildren, David (Debbie) Gaultier, Tina De Vita, Denise (Mike) Palmer, Barbette (Jeff) Lane, Todd (Aspen) Steele, Melissa (Pete) Hembrough, Cynthia (Steve) Gibler, Mark (Brenda) Bancroft, Rebecca "Bancroft" Strahan, and Gregory Bancroft. She also had 25 great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild at the time of her death. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service at the home of Sandy and Serge Mann of Fife Lake at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9. Memorials may be directed to the Fife Lake Historical Society.
