08/02/2006Traverse City Film FestivalShorttakesMid-Fest Party is new additionNew to the Traverse City Film Festival this year is a Mid-Fest Party on the Patio at the Holiday Inn on Thursday from 6 to 10 p.m. The theme is Hollywood Beach Party, with live Cajun/blues/zydeco-style music from Betsie Baye, dancing and food including chef-carved beef tenderloin and baked ham, meatballs, Pleva's cherry kielbasa, fried ravioli and more. Tickets are $25, with a cash bar. Attendance is limited to those 21 and older. For more information, call (800) 888-8020. Designated hot spots for movie-goersTonight, 310 restaurant and Bubba's downtown are the official hot spots for Film Festival gathering. The festival is encouraging movie-goers to gather at those locations before or after seeing a movie. Leave the driving to BATA busesThe Bay Area Transportation Authority is running shuttle buses for the duration of the Traverse City Film Festival. As seen on the big screenIn keeping with the theme of one of the festival movies, "Air Guitar Nation," Loading Dock is holding "Aireoke in the USA" on Saturday night. After the 7 p.m. Saturday screening of the film at the State Theatre, Bjorn Turoque and C-Diddy, stars of "Air Guitar Nation," will be at the Loading Dock downtown at 10 p.m.
