08/03/2006Traverse City Film FestivalShorttakesIs the movie you wanted to see sold out? Check again. The Traverse City Film Festival has released more seats for previously sold-out screenings. Some tickets had been held back so that movie-goers didn't have to sit up in the very front, but organizers have found that people would rather get in and sit in the front rows than not get in at all. To check on tickets for today's films, go directly to the venues up to 45 minutes ahead; for films for upcoming days, go to the box office at the Front Row Centre. "If it's a movie you want to see today, go to the venue and get in a standby line," said the festival's Chuck Lombardo. "There's a pretty darn good chance you'll get a ticket." --- Tickets are still available for the Mid-Fest Party scheduled for tonight at the Holiday Inn West Bay. The Hollywood Beach Party runs from 6-10 p.m., with Cajun-style entertainment, dancing and food. Tickets are $25, with a cash bar. For more information, call (800) 888-8020, visit the festival box office or go online at www.traversecityfilmfestival.org.
