Generation Why

Mom teaches 'the right things in life'

Providing for her family is her priority

Special to the Record-Eagle

I think the person that deserves to be My American Hero should be my mother.

She has taught me the right things in life. If my mom did not care about me, I would not have the things I have now.

My mom saves her money to spend on us. My mom has taken us all over the United States, like Las Vegas, Florida, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee. I am very lucky to have her as a mother. No one could have someone like her because she is the greatest.

My mom does not miss work unless it is an emergency. Some parents have to live on the streets because they think that drugs are more important than their kids. My mom thnks about us before she thinks about herself.

My mom has been divorced for about eight years. She has her own house and is able to have a nice 2003 Chrysler Town and Country which has automatic doors that open and close on each side and the rear hatch does the same. Also, she has a nice pop-up camper so that we can go camping. She is able to pay her own bills on time or early. She will buy Austin, Kayla or me accessories that we need or would like. There is always extra food in the house for us to eat.

My mom wants to make sure that we go to bed with a full belly and clothes on our back and a roof over our head. It makes us feel good that my mom — a single mom on her own — can do that for us.
