North Stars drop season finale, 4-2

Glaesmer nets both TC goals in loss at Marquette

MARQUETTE — Marquette scored two third period goals Saturday to beat the Traverse City North Stars 4-2 in a North American Hockey League game at Lakeview Arena.

It was the season finale for the North Stars, who finished 19-38-5.

Mike Macari scored twice for Marquette. His first goal 5:07 into the first period staked the Rangers to a 1-0 lead.

Traverse City's Mike Glaesmer, voted the game's No. 2 star, knotted the score with a power-play goal late in the period. Patrick Nagorsen and Chris Heineman drew assists.

Nic Weight's power-play tally put Marquette up 2-1 midway through the second period.

But a Glaesmer goal tied it again with just over four minutes remaining in the period. Brett Englebright and Alex Breeden picked up the assists.

The Rangers then put it away on goals by Neeco Belanger and Macari in the third period.

Chris Smith and Nick Kosinski had two assists apiece for Marquette.

Marquette outshot Traverse City 37-33. Beau Christian was in goal for the Rangers, Kyle Jendra for the North Stars.

Traverse City was whistled for 138 minutes in penalties, Marquette 84. The Rangers were 1 of 16 on the power play, Traverse City 1 of 10.
