TC beats Rockford in rugby

TRAVERSE CITY The TC Alliance rugby team improved to 2-0 with an 11-0 win over Rockford on Wednesday.
Matt Moll converted two penalty kicks (six points) and Adam Krantz a try (five points) for the Alliance, who travel to Grand Rapids Catholic Central on Saturday.

Lauren Heindl scored three goals and Kelly Wendels two as Traverse City West defeated Alpena 6-1 in a Big North Conference soccer match Tuesday.
Erica Olson added a solo goal for the Titans (2-0, 1-0). Emily Entz was in goal.
Eagles win 5-team meet
Bellaire won eight events on its way to capturing a five-team meet at Central Lake on Tuesday.
The Eagles scored 128 points, just ahead of Mancelona's 120, followed by Pellston (46), Central Lake (24) and Alanson (9).
Clark Fillmore won the 100 (12.04), 200 (24.83) and teamed with Graham Burry, Ethan Murry and Andrew Moran to win the 1600 relay (3:52).

Shaina Peters threw a one-hitter and struck out seven in the opener of East Jordan's 11-0 and 14-2 sweep of Charlevoix.
Alex Snowden had six hits in the doubleheader, and Randi McFall gave up just three hits in the 14-2 nightcap for the Red Devils (3-1, 2-0 Lake Michigan).
Lauren Mielke had two hits for the Rayders in the twinbill, including a triple.
