Pine River runs away with Benzie titles
Kingsley sweeps Frankfort in dual

BENZONIA Pine River ran up 203 points to easily win the Benzie Central Invitational.
The host Huskies were second with 77 points followed by Glen Lake (72), Lake City (69), McBain (64), Elk Rapids (60), Manistee (57), Mason County Central (29) and Kalkaska (27).
Glen Lake's Marissa Treece won the 800 (2:22.39), 1600 (5:04.88) and 3200 (11:19).
Other area winners were:

Brittany Denter won a pair of individual events to lead Kingsley to a 79-44 win over Frankfort.
Denter won the 100 hurdles (19.8) and high jump (4'8) for Kingsley.

Bucks edge out Blazers to win at Benzie Central
Pine River edged Kalkaska 111-100 for first place at the 10-team Benzie Central Invitational.
McBain was third with 93 points followed by Lake City (86), Benzie (80), Mason County Central (67), Elk Rapids (54), Manistee (44), Glen Lake (23) and Kalkaska (4).
Paul Grieve and Mike Cleggett paced Kalkaska. Grieve won the 1600 (4:32.01) and 3200 (9:55) while Cleggett took the 110 (16.33) and 300 hurdles (40.53).

Tom Sedlacek, Alex Hekes, J.J. Sanchez and Dave Zaleski won a pair of individual events as Kingsley topped Frankfort 108-29 in a Northwest Conference dual meet.
Sedlacek won the 800 (2:19.6) and 1600 (5:13.09), Hekes the long jump (19'10) and high jump (5'10), Sanchez the 110 (16.33) and 300 (42.15) hurdles and Zaleski the 100 (11.9) and 200 (24.29).

Hannah Wittbrodt scored three goals and Frankie Price earned a shutout in goal as Elk Rapids defeated the Traverse City Liberty 7-0.
Also scoring for the Elks (2-0) were Mary Toteff, Olivia Morrison, Kelsey Hawskins and Kim Sills.
The Liberty fell to 1-1.

Marissa Wood-Sternburgh had two goals and an assist as TC West doubled up on Gaylord, 4-2.
Grace Guba and Becca Sage added goals for the Titans (3-0, 2-0 Big North). Lauren Heindl and Courtney Burmeister had assists and Emily Entz was the winning keeper.
Gaylord won the JV game 4-0.

Forest Area 0
Jen Harig had two goals and two assists as Benzie Central shut out Forest Area, 6-0.
Cherise Radionoff and Abby Smeltzer had a goal and an assist for Benzie (2-2). Coutrney Worden and Molly Willette-Green also had goals in support of keeper Maria Blazejewski.
Tina Preston made 18 saves for Forest Area (0-2).
Kalkaska 3
East Jordan 0
Erica Fox scored twice and Jessica Gunderson turned away all seven shots she faced as Kalkaska blanked East Jordan 3-0.
Avery Diola also scored for the Blazers (1-1).
East Jordan's Maribeth Poindexter made 28 saves in her first appearance in goal.
