West Shore schedule set

SCOTTVILLE — The West Shore Community College Performing Arts Series schedule for 2007-2008 is ready to go.

• The season kicks off with "The Whale,” a dramatization of Herman Melville's classic novel, "Moby Dick,” on Saturday, Sept. 22, at 8 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for senior citizens, $7 for students and children, and $14 at the door.

• "Big River, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” will be presented Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 25-27, at 8 p.m., and again on Sunday, Oct. 28, at 3 p.m. Tickets are $14 for adults, $12 for seniors, $7 for students and children, and $16 at the door.

• Pianist and poet Oni Buchanan will perform on Saturday, Nov. 10, at 8 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults, $11 for seniors, $7 for students and children, and $14 at the door.

• Edgar Struble, along with several musical friends, returns for a holiday concert on Saturday, Dec. 1, at 7 and 9 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults, $11 for seniors, $7 for students and children, and $14 at the door.

• Author and illustrator Miriam Katin will present "Stories in Pictures and Words” Friday, March 7, at 8 p.m. Tickets are $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, students and children, and $8 at the door.

• The drama, "A Shayna Maidel,” will be performed Thursday through Sunday, March 13 through 16. All performances are at 8 p.m., except for the Sunday, March 16, performance at 3 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for senior citizens, $7 for students and children, and $14 at the door.

• A presentation by historian Paul Buhle will be offered at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9. This presentation is free.

• "The Belle of Amherst,” William Luce's biographical portrait of American poet Emily Dickinson, will be presented on Friday, April 25, at 8 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, $7 for students and children, and $14 at the door.

• Cinco de Mayo will be marked with a performance by El Oro del Norte, the Rangel Family Musicians, on Saturday, May 3, from 7-10 p.m. in the North and South Lounges of the Campus Center. The evening will feature food and dancing. Tickets are $25 for singles and $40 for couples.

• West Shore Community College's musical ensembles, including the Collegiates, will perform Dec. 15 and April 19 at 8 p.m.; and the Jazz and Concert Bands on Dec. 16 at 3 p.m. and April 30, at 7:30 p.m.

• The WSCC Concert Choir will perform on Dec. 9 and April 13 at 3 p.m. Tickets for these performances will be $6 for adults, $4 for seniors, students and children, and $8 at the door.

All performances except for Cinco de Mayo will held in the Center Stage Theater on the campus.
